Kate, who had a hole punched in her head, looked incredulously at the agent. She let out another sharp scream, shouting, "Damn it! How dare you!!!"
"Revealed again, huh? Get lost." The agent fired two more shots and said, "If you don't have any new tricks, don't bother coming to me. It's a complete waste of both our time."
"You..."
"You must be wondering what went wrong. So, I'll let you die knowing. Your statements are full of errors. I won't go into details, but the main problem is: your narrative is entirely from a male perspective, something Kate wouldn't say. Furthermore, it's entirely from a Mormon believer's worldview, incredibly narrow."
"You refer to fertility issues as a 'curse.' I don't deny that not wanting children and being unable to have them are two different things, and infertility is indeed a sympathetic condition. However, your words place too much importance on fertility: having children is success, and not having them is failure. Your fox tail showed too early."
"And your description of relationships between sexes isn't hidden at all. The question of whether polygamy is reasonable, I won't discuss with you, you wouldn't listen anyway. But your portrayal of Aunt Cain's relationship with the elder is too biased. You say Aunt Cain is withered and can't seduce the elder with her looks anymore, implying she actively seduced him into a relationship, or are you saying Aunt Cain tied the elder to the bed?"
"Moreover, you gloss over Linda's ordeal. What does 'letting Linda give birth to the elder's child' mean? It's called rape, understand?"
"Lastly, you claim Binger has prophetic abilities to predict disasters and animal movements. Is it possible he uses electronic devices and checks weather forecasts, possibly taught by his 'unorthodox' father?"
"As for acts like black magic rituals, it's pure nonsense. You randomly kill someone and blame it on a three-to-four-year-old child who can't possibly defend himself."
"Throughout, you completely hide the evil done by Mormonism, desperately trying to divert my attention to the boy Binger. If I didn't interrupt you, would you claim he's the evil spirit harming the town, expecting me to eliminate him?"
"I'll say it again, you're doing a terrible job as a ghost. Your sole purpose was to provide a storyline, but the misleading fictional story you concocted is entirely unreasonable, rendering your value completely void. Enough, get lost."
The agent waved his hand and headed for the door, while the evil spirit couldn't hold back any longer. It let out a screech, and all the agent saw was a mass of black mist rushing out from Kate's body, heading straight for his face.
"Damn it!" The agent cursed. He turned to dodge, but the space was too cramped, and the entity was too fast; he couldn't escape. Just as he was about to be hit by the mist, Kate's body suddenly moved again.
"Caught you." Kate's voice turned icy cold. The agent instinctively looked up at her, and in the instant their eyes met, Kate's gaze suddenly sharpened.
In the next second, the mist hit the agent. He lost consciousness. In reality, Kate suddenly sprang up from the ground, choking the agent from behind and plunged a sharp spike into his chest.
The agent's body didn't react, but suddenly he began to convulse with intense black mist. The mist seemed to struggle, trying to do something, but failed.
Standing behind him, Kate looked at him, suddenly showing a cold smile, and said, "I've seen you."
Then, Kate's figure slumped down, but the black mist controlling the agent's body crazily struggled, unable to escape the body no matter how hard it tried.
The spike was completely embedded in him, and though he tried to reach for it, he couldn't touch it. He could only stagger outside, disappearing into the night.
Meanwhile, in Aunt Cain's house, Hunting sat up on the bed, slowly turning to look in a direction.
When the agent awoke again, he found himself still in the church, but it was nighttime. He looked up and saw Bruce.
"You finally came," Bruce said, "The other you just left not long ago, if you came earlier, you might have met him."
The agent shook his head and said, "I've already seen him. Tell me what's going on."
Bruce briefly told him the information they had gathered and about the Psychic_Battlefield. The agent sighed lightly and said, "This evil spirit made a huge mistake."
"What do you mean?" Bruce asked him, "The other Shiller previously mentioned the evil spirit's huge mistake, but didn't clarify what it was. From the looks of it, this evil spirit is quite powerful, not only can it summon zombies, but it has such a large psychic battlefield."
"What it shouldn't have done was let Hunting enter the psychic battlefield, while leaving me in the real world, letting us each enter our most adept realms."
The agent has fully understood what the hunting is actually doing.
Starting from the beginning, it's probably like this: this evil spirit has an ability to pull very weak people into the Psychic_Battlefield, but the person must be related to Big Creek Town—either in the town or touching something related to the town.
And when the agent and the hunting were robbing a bank, they picked up a prop used in the Circus tour, and something popped out of the prop and injured both. Although it seems like the system's punishment, the punishment is also expressed through the storyline. This is evidently a trap the evil spirit had placed beforehand.
It's clear that the evil spirit does not intend to stay idle, just lacks the opportunity to leave the town. The doll box placed in the bank might be one of his escape cards. Once someone touches the box and triggers the mechanism, it satisfies both "becoming weak" and "contact with Big Creek Town," allowing the evil spirit to pull them into the Psychic_Battlefield.
The evil spirit has another ability: he can control the body of those whose souls he has pulled into the Psychic_Battlefield, like Aunt Cain, whose soul has been pulled in, and though she is dead, her corpse is still controlled by the evil spirit.
So when someone who touches the doll is pulled in, the evil spirit can use their body to escape. This person isn't in the town but in the city, potentially a big city. This way, he successfully uses the body to go to a big city.
The evil spirit certainly has such a desire; otherwise, he wouldn't prioritize Peter because Peter is a police officer in Siv City. By obtaining his body, he can establish himself in Siv City and possibly gain some power for further development.
Under these circumstances, placing such a frightening box was his biggest mistake. Because the one who touched these boxes was Shiller—more accurately, the one who perfectly stepped into the trap was the hunting.
The hunting met the evil spirit's conditions: he entered the Psychic_Battlefield. However, the hunting's abilities are more inclined towards mental ability, specifically Spirit Tracking. When he entered, he could find ways to hide, and the evil spirit couldn't find him immediately.
The evil spirit must first locate the person's soul and make contact to enter his body. Since he couldn't find the hunting, he couldn't enter his body, thus he was left hanging.
But don't forget, the hunting's Spirit Tracking ability tends towards offense, and his hiding is only a temporary strategy. His true goal is to find the evil spirit.
As the hunting said, everyone in the town could possibly be the evil spirit because the evil spirit has evolved into a collective consciousness of certain people in the town—or over time, practically the collective consciousness of all the town's people. He is more like an "obsession."
So if he doesn't show himself, everyone is him, making the hunting's tracking ability ineffective.
Another reason is that he cannot be exterminated in the Psychic_Battlefield, because this world itself is his creation. Hunting cannot exterminate him in his created world, so the only way is to bring him into the real world and trap him in a body to prevent him from returning to the Psychic_Battlefield, thereby exterminating him.
And the method to bring him into the real world is simple: letting him control someone's body and then face the agent.
The hunting knows very well that the agent lacks the patience to listen to any storyline dialogue. These dialogues are heard with one ear and out the other; brainwashing him is simply impossible.
Yet, this evil spirit apparently doesn't favor using force; he prefers deceit coupled with hypnosis, often using his ability to control bodies to pose as mature people, slowly luring and hypnotizing through speech to persuade the other into the Psychic_Battlefield willingly.
The agent is completely immune to this. The evil spirit tries to inquire about his background and chat with him, but he listens to none of it. Finally, having exhausted the agent's patience, the body controlled by the evil spirit was shot.
The agent is completely immune to the evil spirit's deceit. Once he exposes it, he won't be fooled again; anyone who approaches him for a chat will be shot, entirely cutting off the evil spirit's attempt to disrupt the real world.
And the error mentioned by the agent and the hunting is precisely this. If he had pulled the agent into the Psychic_Battlefield and left the hunting in reality, there might have been room for maneuver. But he placed them separately in the fields they excelled in, which was a major mistake.
Furthermore, the agent's approach is quite infuriating. From the evil spirit's mode of operations, it's clear he's a ghost with a bit of artistic pursuit; otherwise, he wouldn't avoid using force and prefer deceit. He is someone who believes his intelligence surpasses others, manipulating hearts at will, causing people to fall apart.
It's not hard to imagine he must have done this before. Those external tourists pulled into the Psychic_Battlefield likely experienced many rounds of survival games in this dead town. Any companion beside them could be the evil spirit in disguise, leading them to their doom in fear and suspicion. This is the kind of fun the evil spirit seeks through possessing others.
And this time he did the same, but met someone who speed-runs dialogue, skipping all narrative tracks. The lengthy prelude that can't be skipped is already quite frustrating, so the agent's methods will surely be crude. The evil spirit will find himself in a "the wise man cannot reason with the unreasoning soldier" situation, which will certainly anger him. It's akin to "I meticulously prepared a grand feast, but you are a boar who doesn't appreciate fine food."
But such individuals don't easily give up; they are somewhat obsessive and simply won't believe they can't beat you in this field. So he will certainly try repeatedly. If Peter doesn't work, he'll choose someone else—like Kate, who seems to have become a victim. Under the circumstances where Kate is already kidnapped by the evil spirit, the truth she speaks would be very persuasive.
But unfortunately, the agent still feeds him bullets, causing the evil spirit to completely lose his temper. He abandons pulling people into the Psychic_Battlefield and prepares for direct physical assault. And with that opportunity, the hunting seals him in the agent's body and uses his Spirit Tracking ability to lock him down.
