Yuki was quite confused at the moment, as it was highly unusual for her to see someone she wants dead to still be alive. Usually, it ends pretty soon after she made the decision to kill someone, and it also stayed that way each time. Until now that is. It forced her to confront a problem she never thought she would have to deal with… Not getting everything she wanted. It was completely unfair, obviously. She had the simple and humble, almost selfless wish of doing whatever she wanted to do to whoever she wanted to. Which unless directed towards Yamato, usually involved harmful actions, but whatever, she thought. Having once again come to the realization that the whole universe must be against her, she was suddenly overcome with determination. However her thought process may result in actions that others could perceive as "random" or "dramatic", when really it was product of her surge of determination.
"Silence, you worm! Your hat… Is stupid!"
She accusingly said as she pointed her finger at Priest Mateo. His confidence momentarily irritated by her seemingly random statement. Yamato felt like he was surrounded by children playing theater or something. Mateo only responded in slight confusion, before getting it back together.
"It's just… A biretta? It's actually common religious attire. But I understand if it's not for everyone."
"I said silence! Your beliefs are repulsive and wrong, and will be handled accordingly!"
"Well, I'm looking forward to that. However you will find that you have far bigger problems to deal with soon enough. See you around, False Prophet."
As he just… Walked away, Yuki was overcome with a deep frustration. She felt as though she lost that conversation, which can be explained by her competitive nature, in which conversations have winners and losers. Maybe part of it was that she did not have a degrading nickname for him to say back to him as well, since he called her False Prophet, which she took quite personal on many levels. But she also did not want to make a scene in public, even though the streets were quite empty anyway.
"Master! We need an emergency meeting!"
"Do we? What for?"
"Uh, to discuss how to deal with that arrogant pseudo religion priest! And why he is alive in the first place!"
"I don't think it will be a problem… But you're right, it is weird. Are you sure you killed him?"
"Yes, I'm sure! 46 times I stabbed him riiiight… There! And there! Ooh, and over here twice! The there again..."
It was interesting how she would stop herself from making a scene, but the next second poke Yamato with her finger in the chest over thirty times each time at a slightly different spot and that with such enthusiasm, just to demonstrate her grotesque stabbing of someone. She would have kept going if Yamato did not put and end to it by walked away, at which she followed.
"Sounds pretty lethal… Maybe it was his evil twin."
"Then they would both be evil! So it'd be just a twin. That kind of twin would be more like a clone… Because they are the exact same!Anyway, ahem…"
She paused the conversation as they went through the bar up the stairs to their room. After the closing the door she watched Yamoto just go to bed, which felt more like something she would do.
"…Emergency meeting?"
"I don't see an emergency."
"Uh, hello? Walking corpse that knows I am an angel?"
"So what? It's not like he can tell anyone. What's he gonna say? That firl over there is actually an angel that killed me and a bunch of other people in my secret undergr cult?"
"Well, no… But he could make up some other more believable lie. He has a pretty high position, y'know… And this whole keeping my identity as an angel a secret thing was your idea!"
"For now, sure. But I doubt he will be able to do anything immediately, since the Count is already busy with the situation going on with the Baron. Who met us personally, and seems quite convinced of our innocence."
"You're way too calm about this!"
"To be honest, it was unexpected for me too. But it simply won't change anything for me."
"Alright, if you say so…"
"I see you remain skeptical. Let me ask you this… What do you think is the greatest power in a medieval time like ours?"
"Probably magic?"
"Think more politically."
"Lineage?"
"Great answer. However it is actually—"
Yamato was interrupted by the whole building suddenly shaking violently, and loud noise could be heard outside as well.
"An earthquake?! Quick, Master, use me as table!"
Yuki yelled as she threw herself flat on top of him, as if catching a bullet for him with her body. Though visually quite a unique move, suddenly landing on Yamato's stomach certainly was painful for both, more for him than her.
"Uhg… What does that even mean…?"
"Don't you know earthquake rule number one?! You have to crawl under a table, in case the ceiling crumbles or whatever!"
"I don't think that was an earthquake anyway… But how would your body protect me from a collapsing ceiling?"
"I provide warmth and comfort~ And it makes it easier to cast a barrier or just fly you out."
"…Alright, thank you very much. Now get off so we can check out what that was."
"Ehhh~, but it's so comfy and—… Huh…"
"What?"
"Well, three things. First, I just remembered I completely forgot something… Second, I love you. Third, I just got a really uncomfortable feeling."
"Maybe the consequence of landing on me?"
"Don't be ridiculous, I loved that. It was super comfortable and I'd do it again without thinking twice about it. Also, I feel like it came from the center of the town."
"Please don't… And center of the town you say? So from the church?"
It was definitely suspicious, especially after that earthquake just mere moments ago. Combined with the reappearance of Priest Mateo, also known as the cult leader, this must be…
"Hm… Must be a complete coincidence! Since I'm already on top of you, let's stay like this a little more~"
However Yamato had different plans, pushing her off despite her best attempts of staying on top.
"Y'know, this might be a problem after all."
"You just said not to worry about it!"
Looking out the window, he saw a large cloud of smoke rising, and people running out of town in panic.
"Well… Now I say worry about it."
He flew out of the window at which Yuki followed. As they reached where the once beautiful church once stood, only ruins and flames remained.
"Well… That escalated quickly. It was such a nice building…"
"Don't you have a friend that lives here?"
"Oh, that's right! I haven't talked to Carina since I left her at the competition!"
"You should go look for her. Maybe she is hurt."
"Oh, that'd be horrible and—"
Yuki suddenly pulled Yamato away, as a morning star on a chain just barely missed him because of that. Yuki instinctively shot back with a golden sword, and while she was at it, ten more. Though she could not tell if she hit or not because of the smoke.
"Master, we are still in public… Isn't this bad?"
"Town protection is priority. Don't hold back if if you have to go all out. What is down there?"
"I sense three entities, one rather weak and the other two I can't tell."
"Great… No, this might still be fine… Just in case, memorize this and say it once I give you a signal."
He handed her a letter which she read and memorized.
"Oh, really~? Now I get it… Don't worry. I was born for that role."
"I know… Let's get down there."
Landing amidst the debris, the three entities were finally visible. Priest Mateo, as expected. But beside him, a woman, by the looks twenty-five, with hair as orange as the flames surrounding her, holding in her hand a metal stick to which the chain which attacked them earlier was attached. Her clothes were in contrast to her weapon, a dress as one would wear to a ball, red and black, unlike her golden yellow eyes, which Yamato found to be quite odd. Next to her was a man, by the looks around Yamato's age, wearing a suit and tie, with his hands behind his back. His short black hair was slicked back, and his yellow eyes looked straight at Yamato's. Priest Mateo spoke, extending his arms to present the scene around them.
"Ah, finally, the False Prophet arrives to seek her demise! Watch in awe, the creation of MY NEW WORLD!"
Yuki looked at Mateo for a long moment, before looking over at Yamato who seemed just as surprised, before stepping forward, addressing all three of them.
"…Ahem, this church and all its members are hereby claimed by me in the name of my religion. You all trespass on private property, unless you want to sign in for a membership for life, so I have to ask you to remove yourself immediately. Otherwise you will you be forcefully… Disposed of."
The last to words she said in a chilling whisper, as her voice lowered and eyes sharpened. It appeared, as so often, she took that first attack on Yamato personally.
"Ahahahahaha! Don't you understand?! It is already over! I've won! I've transcended the mortal enemy known as death! How else, do you rewch godhood if not through resurrection?"
"Resurrection? Yours is a sad little existence… It's also on my property, so hush, get lost."
"Your words do not reach me, False Prophet! And neither will your attempts to act on your threats. This won't go as it did last time!"
"Oh, don't worry, I will make sure it won't…"
As she said that, she threw another sword at him, however it was caught by the woman, who moved elegantly across the ground in one swift motion, looking at the sword.
"So it was you that threw these earlier, girl… What an interesting thing, I must say. Earlier I was not able to look at it properly since it disappeared once hitting the ground, after I deflected them… They truly are remarkable."
"Girl…? Get lost, old hag. I'll get to you in a second once I'm done with mister dumbass cult."
"I'm afraid I can't do that. I'm bound to this soul, as much as you seem to be bound to that ones."
"What are you talking about?"
"Oh, I'm sorry. I just assumed, since you are clearly not a human. After all, what reason would you have to walk around with such an unremarkable, little human next to you… Though he is quite cute, I would keep him as a pet…"
