Chapter 14 - What you Want? Smartphone?

Alex understood that what Emily said made sense. In his view, it was only a short-term problem.

The hunters who joined this new guild would quickly grow stronger.

How could they not?

They would be cultivators with basic superpowers.

He even planned to prioritize people with mental abilities like his. The public underestimated them.

Many powers that seemed useless before would become amazing once their users became cultivators.

Physical strength and basic stats could be raised through cultivation.

On top of that, they could learn secret techniques and special cultivation methods to control elements.

Maybe something unexpected could happen.

In Alex's understanding, cultivation used qi and a breathing method to convert that qi into an element.

Now, with bodies that could generate their own element, he wondered if they could use that element to enhance the cultivation process itself.

That might make cultivation speed increase by several times.

He could not wait to get a complete set of cultivation methods from Mingyue and start testing them.

'Hmm, I should also get the contract and slave method from Mingyue.'

Alex hated slavery. However, he would need a lot of help from Professor Faerith.

He felt he needed some insurance to make sure she never revealed the truth.

If the real source of the methods and knowledge came out, Alex was sure his family would become a target for people they could not afford to offend yet.

His family's safety came first, no matter what.

"Hello? Are you still there?

Why did you go silent all of a sudden?"

Emily's voice pulled Alex out of his thoughts.

"Nothing, Sis," Alex said. "I just remembered I need to take some precautions.

By the way, since you want us to move up to a higher hunter class, do you know someone you can trust?

Someone who won't ask too many questions?"

Emily felt confused.

"What do you mean by 'no questions'? Alex, don't tell me you plan to collaborate with those Dark Hunters?"

Emily despised Dark Hunters.

As a hunter, she had taken many missions that put her in direct conflict with them.

"Don't you dare get involved with them! Do you know what they do?

They are inhumane, worse than monsters!"

"Dark Hunters? Sis, I'm not that stupid," Alex said.

"I just don't want them snooping around and trying to understand everything about how the guild works.

There are a lot of things I prefer to keep hidden."

Emily grew even more confused.

"What exactly are you trying to hide? I'm your sister.

Don't you trust me?"

Alex realized he could not brush it off with a vague excuse.

Unlike his mom and Luca, Emily would be working with him closely.

"I trust you," he said. "But Sis, you can't tell anyone about this.

I found a way for any Awakener to get stronger. Even normal people can become as strong as hunters.

You should understand what that means."

Emily was shocked.

"You mean you found a new power system?"

"Power system? Yeah, you could call it that."

"Then why are you even talking about this over the phone?" Emily raised her voice. "Come to my home later.

I should be there by night."

She hung up right after that, not giving Alex a chance to reply.

'A power system... does this mean other methods have been found before?' Alex wondered.

He knew he would get more answers when he met Emily later.

For now, the important thing was to get a cultivation method.

'Vesa, can you ask Mingyue about the cultivation technique?'

[You are asking at the right time, King. We just got a bunch of new techniques, but you should ask the Queen yourself.]

"Mingyue, how is it going?" Alex asked. "Have you made any decisions yet?

What do you want from my world?"

At that moment, Mingyue had just finished dealing with Linghua.

She was checking the list of treasures inside the secret realm that Vesa had created.

"I've thought about it," Mingyue said. "What I need now is the thing you call a smartphone.

Being able to record and take pictures is what I need the most right now."

"Smartphone?" Alex repeated.

He thought about their situation.

Her world had no electricity, but a phone with mobile data turned off should last at least a few weeks on battery.

He could just send her a new one when it ran out.

"Alright, I can get that for you," Alex said. "Send me the cultivation methods, then.

Vesa told me you just got a bunch of them, right?

Vesa can transmit the information to me, so it should not be a problem to give me all of them."

"All of them?" Mingyue asked. "Don't waste time practicing useless cultivation methods, Alex.

There are many, but from what I have seen, most are low-level or incomplete."

"Don't worry, Mingyue. I just want to analyze the cultivation methods.

Who knows, I might be able to derive a new one. By the way, how is your situation now?

Who is coming after you?"

Mingyue raised her eyebrows. She was surprised he wanted to create a new method.

Then she remembered Alex's abilities. It was possible for him to learn and dissect the methods.

"I'm alright," she said. "Just be careful when experimenting with them.

A bad cultivation technique can lead to a fate worse than death."

[Queen, why haven't you told the King? It is not alright when you are basically surrounded by enemies now.

Both of your fates are linked.

You are afraid something might happen to the King because that would mean losing a way to the other world.

It is the same if something happens to you.]

Vesa's message appeared in front of Mingyue's eyes.

Mingyue thought about it and knew Vesa was right.

She asked in her mind, 'Vesa, what happens if one of us dies?'

[You mean what happens to the other one? Both your fates are literally linked, Queen.

Both of your souls have already started melding with the progenitor, which is why I could create this system.

If one of you dies, the other will too.

As you transform closer to becoming a true progenitor, you will feel each other's presence even more, as a progenitor is part of one soul.]
