MingYue let out a quiet sound.
Then she paused for a moment before she continued, "I just don't get it. Why would they do all this?"
Alex had already tried to see it from the Patriarch's point of view.
The man did not have much time left and could not wait until MingYue was strong enough to protect the family.
From all the stories Alex had heard so far, the Patriarch was a selfish man.
He did not want to sacrifice his life for future generations.
But Alex knew that was not what MingYue wanted from him, even if she worded it that way.
"Well, that is not important," Alex said.
"In the end, they betrayed you for their own selfish desire."
"Yeah, they are so stupid.
If they knew what I am capable of now, I am sure they would regret it!"
I knew it. She just wants approval so she can ease her guilt.
She probably feels guilty about burning down her old home, Alex thought.
