It was not that she did not care about him.
Her mind was already busy thinking about what kind of monster they needed to find to increase their chances of going to that place.
She could not contain the excitement in her chest. She knew the chance that everyone was still alive was small.
But alive or dead, she wanted to bring all of them home.
They talked a little more, then went their separate ways, leaving only Alex and Olivia in the forest.
Olivia's expression turned serious.
"Follow me," she said.
Alex was confused by the sudden request, but he still followed her.
They walked through the trees like a maze until they reached a small clearing.
In the middle stood a tree that was slightly larger than the others.
Fireflies floated all around, filling the area with soft light.
