Alex let out a heavy sigh, then moved.

The blow missed her spine and smashed into her shoulder instead, sending her crashing away with a grunt.

Another soldier rolled and came up fast, spear in hand, eyes wide with panic.
"Enemy!" he shouted, pointing his weapon at Alex.
Alex did not answer. He was already moving.
Velna thrust her spear forward. Alex twisted aside.
The spear scraped along his armor with a harsh screech of metal.
He swung back with a heavy horizontal Cleave, but the Lancer ducked low and swept for his legs.
Alex jumped back, barely avoiding the strike, then rushed in again.
