The space station outside Path T2-316 or PT2-316 where Lucas had gotten upset during his visit and decided to stretch his limbs later was now a wreck with most of its parts having turned into debris. And the debris didn't even get to drift through the vacuum for the most part. The pieces that fell apart broke down further amidst the war that had now arrived at the threshold of the door that had been the target of protection.
The Devourers fighters streaked through the void, weaving a deadly dance with the desperate fighters from the other side. But those were only the low level grunts on the battlefield. The heavy hitters were the evolvers themselves.
When the body took back the place of the best weapon, there was no need for superfluous additions. Level 5 evolvers who could only 'survive' in outer space, and even then only for a limited amount of time, were clashing like gods of war, or maybe rather, humanoid war machines.
