Chapter 41 - Chapter 38 : Dreamland Amusement Park

Seeing Goofy's leisurely expression, Jessie was both angry and anxious.

"My life is at stake, and you're thinking about going out to play!" Jessie exclaimed.

Goofy, realizing the seriousness of the situation, decided to play along. He pretended to be mysterious, locked the door, and pulled the curtains. Sitting next to Jessie, he spoke in a low voice, "Shhh... What I'm about to tell you is a top-secret NYPD mission. You must not reveal it to anyone."

Jessie nodded eagerly, leaning in closer to Goofy.

Goofy continued, "Actually, the NYPD intentionally let the Global Daily publish this report to attract attention and lure the remaining black gang members into taking action. The NYPD has set up an ambush around my apartment, waiting for the criminals to come to us. Once someone dares to retaliate, the NYPD will catch them all in one sweep."

Reluctantly, Jessie believed the story, explaining Goofy's calm demeanor.

"If it's an NYPD's plan, you shouldn't be in danger, right?" Jessie asked in a hushed voice, finally relieved.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine," Goofy reassured her with a smile.

To steer the conversation away from the sensitive topic, Goofy quickly changed the subject, "By the way, Jessie, I heard there's a new amusement park in Queens that's fantastic. Since you have no class this afternoon, let's go have some fun."

Rolling her eyes at him, Jessie retorted, "Who said I didn't have classes in the afternoon? I have several classes! It's all this fucking news report; I was so scared that I missed class to come to you."

Feeling moved, Goofy apologized, "I'm sorry for making you worry. Should I take you back to class now?"

Surprisingly, Jessie shook her head, saying, "Forget it; I'm not in the mood for class now. Since you suggested going to the playground, let's go to the playground!"

Goofy smiled and nodded, "Okay, let's go to the playground."

Putting down the newspaper, Goofy led Jessie out of the apartment.

On the second page of the Global Daily, a headline read: "The newly opened amusement park 'Dreamland' in Queens has been exposed to seven safety hazards, especially the roller coaster, pirate ship, and other projects."

---

The second-hand Chevrolet swiftly carried Goofy and Jessie to the "Dreamland" amusement park in Queens. As it had just opened, tickets were available at a 20% discount.

After purchasing tickets, Goofy took Jessie around the park. He planned to guide Jessie to a non-dangerous ride and then challenge the roller coaster, pirate ship, and other projects with safety hazards.

Ever since seeing the news report, Goofy had considered coming to the amusement park to try his luck. While the probability of malfunction was low, if something were to go wrong, he could avoid the subsequent troubles with a bit of luck.

However, before taking risks for himself, he needed to make suitable arrangements for his companion.

The two walked together to the merry-go-round, and Goofy enthusiastically pointed to the brightly lit carousel, "Look, Jessie, the merry-go-round! Do you like it?"

"I love it!" Jessie nodded. "Let's go and have a ride!"

"You go ahead; I'll join later," Goofy hesitated. "I'm going to try the roller coaster first."

"I like roller coasters too. Let's ride the roller coaster first!" Jessie suggested eagerly.

Goofy quickly shook his head, "Roller coasters are too dangerous, especially for you. Scientifically, riding a roller coaster can cause various injuries, like retinal detachment, cerebral hemorrhage, spine deformation due to excessive compression, and more. In short, it's too risky; I wouldn't recommend it."

Confused, Jessie asked, "Then why did you bring me to a playground filled with roller coasters?"

Goofy pointed to the carousel, "You can enjoy the carousel!"

Jessie protested, "You brought me to the playground, and now you want me to ride the carousel?"

Goofy then pointed to the water slide, "This ride is less dangerous. You can try the water slide."

With a puzzled look, Jessie said, "Goofy, what's wrong with you? You've always been so brave. Why are you suddenly so cautious today? You won't even let me ride a roller coaster."

"It's not that I'm scared; it's just that I'm worried about your safety," Goofy whispered. "This playground... well, its reputation isn't great. It was just exposed that there are seven safety hazards."

Jessie, growing more bewildered, remarked, "So, with seven safety hazards, why did you bring me here? You're acting really strange, Goofy."

Goofy coughed awkwardly, "Well, I only found out about it after we got here."

Deciding not to play anymore, Jessie suggested, "Since there are safety hazards, let's go somewhere else. It's still early; we can find another playground!"

Goofy looked helpless; he realized he should have come alone.

Unexpectedly, a scream echoed from nearby, grabbing their attention.

"God! That person's seat belt is undone!"

Goofy and Jessie turned towards the sound, seeing a passenger on a roller coaster shouting to the staff, "My seat belt is open! My seat belt is open!"

The seat belt was indeed loose, swaying as the roller coaster sped along the track. The passenger only had the safety bar on her shoulders holding her in place. However, the roller coaster was about to experience a steep fall and inversion, and the loose seat belt posed a severe safety risk.

Everyone in the audience held their breath.

Jessie couldn't help but grab Goofy's hand.

The situation had become critical!
