"Soren?! What's going on?! What did you do to him?!" When Catherine entered the hall carrying the unconscious Soren, the temporary ambassador's face darkened as he questioned the chief harshly upon seeing Soren unconscious.
Although Soren's misfortune was what gave the temporary ambassador a chance to climb higher in rank, there had never been any real conflict between the two. In fact, Soren had been quite decent as a superior. So, when the ambassador saw Soren in this state, his anger flared, and his gaze toward the chief and the officers was filled with suspicion.
"What happened?" The chief was also confused. As far as he remembered, Soren hadn't been mistreated by any of his officers. So why would something happen now, just as he was about to leave? Wasn't this giving others an excuse to point fingers?
"Chief, it's not our fault. There are surveillance cameras in the station. If I hadn't knocked him out, he would have died..." Though the officer didn't fully understand what had changed with Soren, he was determined to prove the station's innocence and avoid being blamed for the incident.
"What do you mean? What happened?" The chief was even more perplexed after hearing the officer's explanation. He glanced around but saw no one who could have posed a threat to Soren. There were no outsiders present. What could have made the officer feel compelled to knock him out?
"Chief, this really has nothing to do with the officer..." Catherine interjected just as the chief was about to investigate further. She didn't want him to review the surveillance footage, especially not in front of Soren's former subordinates, as it would only further damage Soren's reputation.
Though Catherine still didn't fully understand Soren's strange behavior, the most urgent task was to leave the station and figure things out later. At this point, she was unaware that a deal had already been struck between the USA and Britain. All she wanted was to return home quickly and see if Soren could calm down. Figuring out the truth could come later.
"Is that so?" The chief gave the officer a skeptical look, but after receiving a nod, he turned to the temporary ambassador. "Since the misunderstanding has been cleared up, I won't hold you any longer. I hope you can give us an explanation soon."
"Of course, of course," the ambassador replied quickly. His colleagues stepped forward to carry Soren, and the group headed out of the police station.
"What's going on?" After they had left, the chief turned to the officer for an explanation.
"To be honest, I don't know exactly what happened either. I thought this case was already settled, but then something strange happened. When I first saw Soren come out, I thought he was faking it, but later... never mind, Chief, you should watch the surveillance footage yourself. There are too many strange things, and I still need to question Bellock..." the officer sighed.
"Huh? Bellock? What happened to her? And why didn't she leave with them?" The chief was taken aback. He had only been with the embassy personnel for a short while, but it felt like a lot of things had happened that he wasn't aware of.
"Bellock's behavior was strange. At the very least, she's not as innocent as we initially thought." The officer shook his head and walked off, leaving the chief to review the footage.
As the chief watched the surveillance footage, his face grew darker, especially when he saw how Soren almost shot himself. His brows furrowed tightly.
"Something's wrong. Something's very wrong!" The chief's expression became more serious, and he began to think deeply. Then, as if he had a sudden realization, he pulled up footage from the interrogation room where Soren had been.
When he saw Soren suddenly scream in terror, the chief's pupils dilated. He then pulled up footage of Bellock and Damien in another room. Oddly, the video seemed almost like a still image—no sound, and very little movement.
Of course, the footage of Bellock and Damien entering and leaving the room was normal, but this didn't entirely clear Bellock of suspicion. A normal person, even if not scared, wouldn't sit motionless in a police station, especially not while holding someone like Damien, whom Bellock supposedly loved. She should have at least said something.
"Could this be a supernatural incident? Should we involve a special investigative team?" The chief hesitated as he considered his options.
"Chief, we didn't find anything suspicious..." The officer who had gone to investigate Bellock returned and spoke to the chief. "It's just that Soren wanted to shoot Damien, so Bellock now hates him and wants him dead..."
"Is that so?" The chief noticed something strange in the officer's demeanor, but quickly calmed down. He asked in a casual tone, "Where is she now?"
"She's already left the station," the officer replied softly.
"Alright then. This matter is no longer our concern. We'll wait for further updates from their side." The chief nodded, dismissing the officer, who quickly left the office.
The station returned to its usual calm, as if the disruption caused by Soren and his group had never happened. Meanwhile, Bellock strolled out of the station, a glint of disdain in her eyes.
"This isn't right. She shouldn't be able to influence so many people with her abilities..." Robert and Clark hadn't followed Soren's group as they left. With Bellock now exposed, it was more prudent to keep an eye on her. They had witnessed Bellock's influence on the entire station.
Fortunately, Bellock hadn't intended to harm anyone. Robert and Clark had decided to observe her next move, rather than intervene. If Bellock had caused any real damage, it would have been easy to break her influence, and the chief would have undoubtedly reported it to the supernatural authorities, creating even more trouble for Bellock. But being watched by Robert and Clark was a much bigger problem.
"What will she do next? Soren's group is preparing to take the earliest flight back to the USA. Will Bellock stop them?" Clark asked as he glanced between Bellock and the departing group. "Can her abilities reach far enough to curse Soren all the way from here?"
"What are you thinking?" Robert rolled his eyes. "With her strength? No way. The police station's boundaries are already her limit."
"From Soren's reaction earlier, it seems Damien might be more problematic than we thought. When do you think Soren will face trouble again?" Clark looked at the still-unconscious Soren and asked hesitantly, "Should we stick closer to them?"
After the recent events, Clark was beginning to doubt Damien's innocence. Although Damien seemed like an ordinary three-year-old, his reaction during Soren's outburst was far too calm. Even a child should have shown more emotion in that situation.
"How about we split up? You follow Soren, and I'll keep an eye on Bellock?" Robert suggested after a moment of thought.
"If Damien really is a problem and goes after Soren, I might not be able to stop him, especially if he's using some sort of strange powers..." Clark sighed, clearly conflicted.
"Alright, then. I'll go with Diana to follow Soren, and you can keep tabs on Bellock," Robert said with a shrug, looking over at Clark.
Yes, Diana had arrived. She had sensed Robert's power and, even though he wasn't near her home, Britain wasn't that far. After quickly gathering herself, she had rushed over. Robert, in turn, had sensed her arrival and immediately agreed to split up with Clark.
"..." Clark hadn't even had time to respond before he saw Robert vanish, meeting Diana in the air. Shaking his head in resignation, Clark quietly followed Bellock.
