"Hey, if you can fuse with Clark, can you fuse with us?" Kara suddenly had a lightbulb moment and asked Robert when he looked puzzled about why she and Diana hadn't been able to fuse.
"Huh?" Robert froze at her question. To be honest, he had never considered this possibility because there had never been a precedent for it.
In the Dragon Ball world, ever since the Metamoran Fusion first appeared, it had always been male warriors fusing. So, when Kara and Diana couldn't fuse, Robert had started to wonder if the fusion simply didn't work between women.
As for the idea of cross-gender fusion, Robert had never entertained it. Just thinking about it felt strange. Even though the fusion would result in a new personality, it would still lean toward one memory or another. Besides, if he fused with Kara or Diana, what would their gender be?
"Uh, let's not, that feels a bit... weird," Robert hesitated after considering it and then looked at Kara.
"Where's your spirit of exploration? Your thirst for knowledge? What happened to the drive you had when you were studying spells and hungering for extraordinary powers?" Kara challenged him, staring into his eyes.
Kara was genuinely curious about the Metamoran Fusion now. She desperately wanted to know if there was a chance of successfully fusing with Robert. After all, if Clark were ever tied up fighting another powerful enemy and couldn't fuse with Robert, wouldn't she be a suitable backup? Having an extra card to play was always better than being left powerless.
"Fine... let's give it a try!" Robert, defeated by Kara's insistence, nodded reluctantly. Under Diana's teasing gaze and Kara's eager eyes, Robert and Kara performed the fusion dance, and their fingers touched.
With a "buzz," a bright light appeared between Robert and Kara, surprising Diana. She hadn't expected it to actually work.
To Diana, if only Robert could perform the fusion, then it wasn't a skill that could be taught—it would be a unique ability belonging solely to him.
With a "whoosh," energy similar to the one released by "Lorak" emerged, but it was noticeably weaker. Diana then saw what Robert and Kara's fusion form looked like.
How to describe it? It looked like Kara with Robert's hairstyle. Her feminine features were gone, and her height had become Kara's, much shorter than Lorak.
Yes, Robert's only contributions to the fusion were stubbornly maintaining a male appearance and his hairstyle. The new fusion's personality was also predominantly Robert's.
"Wanna test your strength?" Diana asked with a slight smirk, her eyes flashing with battle spirit as she gazed at the fusion.
"Why not? Call me 'Kabet!'" Kabet's eyes glimmered with the same battle spirit, and their ambiguous voice momentarily unsettled Diana. Before she could adjust to her emotions, Kabet was already charging at her.
With a loud "bang," after just a few moves, Diana realized she wasn't a match for Kabet. Kabet's strength far surpassed hers. Even when Diana unleashed her divine power and used her various magical weapons, it was still no use—she was overpowered and couldn't even get Kabet to fight at full strength.
Diana thought bitterly, "Sorry I couldn't make you go all out, huh?"
Thankfully, the small training base remained intact under Kabet's telekinetic shield. Otherwise, the base, which had cost Diana a considerable amount, would have been destroyed.
After thirty minutes of fusion, Diana managed to hold her own, but the fusion eventually ended, reverting Kabet back into Robert and Kara.
"Now it's my turn, right?" Diana cast a deep look at Kara, guessing that the excitement Kabet had shown was not just influenced by Robert's battle spirit but also because Kara had subconsciously wanted to give Diana a good beating.
"No, thanks!" Robert's face turned sour at the thought of going through it again. He felt something was off, especially when he saw Diana and Kara locking eyes. He suspected something was about to go very wrong.
"Come on, what if after you fuse with me, I'll be able to fuse with Kara?" Diana smirked, offering Robert an irresistible reason.
"Alright, Kara, watch out," Robert reluctantly agreed, nodding at Kara before performing the Metamoran fusion dance with Diana.
With a flash of light, "Dibet" appeared in front of Kara. Dibet looked similar to Kabet, with Diana's appearance combined with Robert's hairstyle, wearing the fusion's signature vest.
However, unlike Kabet, Dibet still retained Diana's magical gear—whether it was the Sword of Hephaestus, the Aegis Shield, or the Star Tiara, they were all present. The sight of Dibet gave Kara an overwhelming sense of pressure.
Still, Kara gritted her teeth and refused to back down. If Diana could last so long against her fusion with Robert, why couldn't she hold her own against their fusion?
Unfortunately, Kara's endurance didn't match Diana's. Dibet was stronger than Kabet, and this was even without using any of Diana's magical artifacts.
This realization was hard for Kara to accept. She now had a renewed determination to grow stronger. If Diana remained stronger, then even if a crisis arose and Robert couldn't fuse with Clark, his first choice would undoubtedly be Diana, not her. Kara resolved to claim the top spot for fusion.
After the fusion wore off, Robert quickly healed both Kara and Diana's injuries. While their injuries wouldn't prevent future fusions, it was better not to leave them wounded. Robert was especially concerned that if they saw each other's injuries, they might rekindle their anger and start another fight, leaving him completely powerless.
"Ahem, now you two can give it another try…" Robert coughed lightly, interrupting their intense stares after they had healed, and reminded them to test the fusion once more.
Without saying a word, Kara and Diana stood together in perfect sync and began the Metamoran fusion dance again.
As their fingers touched, a light briefly flashed between them. But just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished, and Diana and Kara were still standing apart, not fused.
"Hmm…" Kara and Diana were left confused, and Robert fell into deep thought. If there had been no reaction at all, it would have confirmed that the Metamoran fusion only worked when Robert was involved.
But the brief reaction between Diana and Kara suggested that there was a glimmer of hope for their fusion.
"I felt a bit of energy fluctuation just now, and I noticed some movement in my body, similar to when I fused with you," Diana revealed her discovery.
"Should I try infusing you both with some of my energy?" Robert pondered for a moment and then gathered two pure energy spheres, signaling to Diana and Kara.
Without hesitation, Diana and Kara accepted the energy and infused it into their bodies. They exchanged a glance and performed the dance again.
However, this time it was even worse than before. Despite having Robert's energy within them, Diana and Kara failed to fuse. Not only that, but there wasn't even a flicker of light this time.
After this failed attempt, the three of them gave up on the idea of Diana and Kara fusing. Fortunately, Robert could fuse with anyone, so if they ever faced a serious threat, he had plenty of fusion options.
The fact that the Metamoran fusion wasn't affected by one's current condition was an added bonus. Even if Robert had just fought a fierce battle and was seriously injured, as long as he could successfully fuse, he would be able to unleash tremendous power.
For Robert, this was like having an additional trump card, akin to having a portable battery charger.
In the thirty minutes of fusion, Robert's recovery rate would allow him to heal and regain his combat strength quickly. By the time the fusion ended, he'd be back at full power!
It wasn't just an extra life—it was like having three lives! This was a massive power boost!
Since the fusion attempt didn't succeed, Robert and Kara left Diana's place. After all, the new year was approaching. Although the Dark Dimension's invasion had disrupted the Kent family's planned vacation, their space adventure had been an alternative form of travel.
Plus, since the Damian incident had ended, Robert had been staying with Diana, so it was time to go home and spend some time with his parents and Kara. Diana didn't mind Robert leaving, especially since she had noticed the battle spirit in Kara's eyes. Diana understood that Kara wanted to grow stronger, and she couldn't afford to fall behind in strength either.
Meanwhile, just outside the Savage Island, a Kryptonian spaceship, invisible to Earth's technology, descended. Clark and Lana brought their families back and opened the passage to the Savage Island, allowing the now soaked Kong and the T-Rex in his arms to return.
To be honest, Kong and the T-Rex were not used to being away from the Savage Island. Even though Kong enjoyed fighting, he much preferred the island's air to combat.
The regular Earth atmosphere didn't suit Kong and the T-Rex at all. The difference was even more significant than the change from seawater to freshwater. Fortunately, Kong and the T-Rex's lifeforms were at such a high level that they weren't too affected. If they had been ordinary dinosaurs, they wouldn't have survived long outside the island.
In this sense, the Savage Island wasn't a prison for the dinosaurs; it was their only home where they could continue to thrive. If the island were ever opened to the outside world, the dinosaurs would likely face extinction, just like those in Earth's history.
Inside the Savage Island, the Kryptonian spaceship landed, and the Kent family, along with the Danvers family
, stepped out. It was only when they set foot on solid ground that they finally felt grounded again.
The Kryptonian ship's technology was advanced enough to simulate Earth's environment and gravity, but even so, the Kent family still felt uncomfortable. Their bodies instinctively knew they were in space.
Many people on Earth dream of space travel, but not everyone can handle the feeling of being in space, even with spacesuits.
And they had only been in space for a short time. Long-term interstellar travel would be even more challenging, and it was clear the Kent family wasn't the exception.
"Feels good to have my feet on solid ground again!" Jonathan sighed with relief.
"Forget the solid ground. Clark, is the danger over? Why haven't Kara and Robert come back yet?" Martha, feeling the same sense of relief, quickly shifted her concern to her children. She looked at Clark with a worried expression.
The Dark Dimension had descended too suddenly, and Clark hadn't had time to explain everything to the Kent family. But when they saw Lana joining the battle with Clark, and even Kong leaving the island, the Kent family knew this was no small event.
So, when they returned and didn't see Kara and Robert, Martha became instantly anxious. The Danvers family and Alex were equally concerned.
"They're fine. They weren't hurt in this incident. They're just handling some things afterward," Clark said, shaking his head and reassuring his family.
"We're back!" Before long, Robert and Kara returned to the Savage Island, finally easing the Kent family's worries. With the burden lifted, both families began to recapture the festive spirit as the new year approached.
