Chapter 480 - Chapter 480: Demigod vs. Titan

[Third Person Pov]

"Hah… hah… hah…"

Atlas staggered to a halt, chest heaving. His massive fingers trembled uncontrollably as residual arcs of the Master Bolt still crawled through his nerves like living fire. Smoke rose from his shoulders. Every muscle twitched with the aftershock of pure divine voltage, yet the Titan remained standing—battered, scorched, but unbroken.

"Hahahaha!"

Lucian's distorted laugh rang out across the ruined battlefield. With his free hand he reached sideways into empty air. A trident of gleaming bronze and seafoam-green light materialized in his grip, its three prongs crackling with oceanic power. In one hand he now held the Master Bolt of Zeus. In the other, the Trident of Poseidon.

Artemis's thoughts were driven into a frenzy of confusion, 'How is that even possible?! Just what kind of magic is this?!'

She stared, frozen, as the demigod casually wielded two of the three most sacred weapons of the Olympians as though they were ordinary tools.

Lucian drove the trident's butt into the air like it was the ground. Instantly a massive storm cloud coalesced above him, black and swollen. Without hesitation he hurled the Master Bolt straight into its heart. The cloud convulsed, then exploded outward into a roiling maelstrom of pure elemental fury. Thunder became continuous. Lightning forked in every direction. The wind rose to a shrieking howl so powerful it swallowed every other sound on the battlefield.

Artemis opened her mouth to shout Lucian's name. Her voice vanished into the gale. The hurricane-force gusts shoved her backward several steps, silver hair whipping across her face.

Yet through the chaos Atlas stood as steady as a mountain, eyes locked on Lucian with pure, malicious hatred. He did not understand what blasphemous magic allowed a mere demigod to command such artifacts, but he knew one thing with absolute certainty: it had to end. Now.

With a single explosive bound the Titan launched himself into the air. He crashed into Lucian like a meteor, tackling him out of the sky. Their bodies slammed into the earth with a concussive boom that briefly overpowered even the thunder. Lightning continued to rain down in wild, uncontrolled discharges. A full hurricane washed over the two combatants, rain falling in solid sheets, wind howling like a living thing.

Lucian defended himself with ferocious creativity. One after another he summoned natural disasters: the ground bucked and split in violent earthquakes; a sudden blizzard of razor-sharp ice crystals howled across the field; a typhoon of crushing pressure and horizontal rain slammed into Atlas from every side. The very air became a weapon.

But Atlas was the Titan of Strength and Endurance. He refused to fall to a demigod. To do so would be the greatest stain imaginable upon his legendary stature. Even as he burned with the desire to crush Lucian into paste, a reluctant respect continued to grow in the back of his mind. The boy's power was monstrous.

Hidden within the torrential rain, more of Lucian's cursed weaponry streaked downward like artillery shells. They struck Atlas's body with bone-jarring force. The Titan merely flexed. His muscles, dense as diamond-wrapped steel, absorbed every impact without so much as a flinch. The blades bounced away or shattered against his invincible frame.

Frustration finally flickered across Lucian's face. He reached into the storm once more and summoned the final piece of the Trinity.

The Helm of Hades.

The moment the dark crown settled over Lucian's head, his crimson eyes flared with unnatural light. A wave of pure, palpable fear rolled outward across the entire crafted dimension. Even Atlas's ironclad will faltered. In the space of a heartbeat the Titan found himself trapped once more beneath the unbearable weight of the heavens, forced to watch the world turn beneath him for all eternity without rest or mercy. Tears of pure rage and remembered agony burned in his eyes. Lucian had once again touched the deepest wound in Atlas's soul—and for him to do it once again filled the Titan with murderous fury.

Then Lucian vanished.

The Helm of Hades rendered him completely invisible, undetectable even by divine senses. In the middle of the howling chaos he struck at point-blank range. Wielding the weapons of the Big Three with devastating precision, Lucian opened fresh wounds across Atlas's body before the Titan even realized he had been hit. Dark ichor spilled onto the storm-lashed ground.

Atlas roared and lashed out wildly, swinging his fists and remaining strength in every direction in a desperate attempt to catch the invisible demigod. But it was useless. Lucian had become a ghost in the storm—elusive, untouchable, and utterly relentless.

'To think that I, the strongest of all Titans, would be pushed this far by a brat who has barely left his mother's breast…'

The thought burned through Atlas's mind like acid. Humiliation deeper than any physical wound twisted inside him. Golden ichor mixed with the torrential rain, streaming down the deep cuts carved across his mortal form in glittering rivers.

When Lucian drove Poseidon's trident forward once more, Atlas moved with sudden, desperate precision. His massive hands closed around the shaft mid-thrust. The Titan's face fell into shadow, eyes dark with shame and something far more dangerous.

"How far have the mighty fallen…" he rasped.

Fine cracks spider-webbed across his battered skin. Golden light and living fire began to leak from the fractures. Energy discharged from him in wild, lightning-like arcs, a storm brewing just beneath the surface of his flesh.

"To think that I, a Titan, would be forced to abandon my mortal vessel… just to fight a prepubescent child."

The cracks widened. Power threatened to erupt completely.

"Repent for the sins of your arrogance," Atlas thundered, voice already deepening into something no longer human, "for believing you had what it took to rival a Titan!!"

Artemis did not shout. She simply spoke, channeling the full authority of a goddess into every syllable. Her voice cut through the hurricane with ethereal clarity.

"Lucian—close your eyes."

Lucian obeyed without conscious thought. His eyelids slammed shut an instant before the world changed.

Atlas shed his mortal shell entirely.

He rose into his true Titan form—a colossal giant of pure energy and corded muscle, towering high enough to blot out the storm clouds themselves. Rugged features carved from living stone and flame. A beard of roaring golden fire cascaded down his chest. He wore a simple brown toga and heavy golden bracers gleamed on each massive forearm. The very air around him warped under the pressure of his presence.

Lucian collapsed flat against the soaked earth. There was no longer any point in remaining invisible. He withdrew the Helm of Hades with a trembling hand. Blood poured freely from his nose, painting the entire front of his face crimson before pooling on the ground beneath him.

"Hahaha…" The laugh that escaped him was hoarse, strained, almost broken. He didn't just feel the pressure on his body but on his soul, his very existence.

"This… this is insane… what is that power…"

He trembled violently. For the first time, true fear crept into his heart and refused to leave. He stood in the presence of power incarnate, and the pressure was beginning to unravel him. Madness clawed at the edges of his rationality, peeling away layers of confidence, of worldview, of the carefully constructed arrogance he had worn like armor.

He had stood before three Olympian gods before and nearly died from the experience. This was different. Being near a fully manifested Titan felt like he was being erased—atom by atom, thought by thought.

"Hahaha… and to think I actually believed the power I wielded mattered…" Lucian chuckled weakly, spiraling further with every word. "It was all an illusion. I've been lying to myself this entire time…"

Atlas, now fully transformed, clenched one enormous fist. kneeling on one knee, he stared down at the demigod like a man regarding an ant beneath his boot. Then he raised that fist high and brought it crashing downward with enough force to shatter mountains.

The blow never landed.

A long bow formed of antlers intercepted the descending fist, locking it in place with a resonant crack of colliding divine power. Atlas's burning eyes lifted.

Artemis stood over Lucian in her own true divine form.

She was a being of pure elegance and grace—her body composed of interlocking streams of blue and silver light, four arms moving with perfect coordination. Her eyes held the cold fire of distant starlight. A delicate circlet crowned with a glowing crescent moon rested upon her brow. Where Atlas radiated raw strength and overwhelming power, Artemis embodied the quiet, lethal beauty of the night sky itself.

Her two free arms reached up and locked around Atlas's wrist. Using his own momentum, she fell backward, planted both feet against the Titan's midsection, and launched him away with a precise, powerful kick. The ground trembled as Atlas crashed down some distance behind her. Artemis flipped back to her feet in one fluid motion, never once losing her composure.

She knelt, scooped Lucian carefully into her luminous hands, and whispered, "I am proud of you, Lucian Blackheart, to forcing a Titan to such a state, be proud for you have come far. As you have protected me from him—"

She kissed him, her warm lips enveloping his small figure like a blanket, "—It is my turn to protect you now…"

With infinite gentleness she settled the battered demigod into the cradle of the crescent moon upon her circlet, where he rested against the soft glow of her power. He felt her power and the power of the kiss protecting him, healing the wound in his psyche and soul.

Atlas rose once more, towering over the goddess. Divine Titan and Olympian goddess faced one another across the ruined battlefield while a lone demigod—once so loud, so arrogant, so certain of his own strength—lay reduced to something almost inconsequential between them.
