He pushed the examination report aside, saying indifferently, "I knew it long ago."
She was furious: "Since you knew it already, why are you saying these sarcastic things? Are you playing with me?"
He quickly pulled her, and she fell into his arms, unable to stop herself.
She instinctively reached out to put distance between them, breathing rapidly, on high alert: "What do you want?"
He stared at her.
The distance between them was so close.
Her long eyelashes almost touched his face.
Her face flushed with anger, lips red like peach blossoms because of the wine, the faint fragrance of familiarity from being apart for too long... Even though they had been together constantly since their reunion, they were hardly separated... but, after all, not intimate.
The spontaneous joy and intimacy she felt when she pushed open the door and saw him on New Year's Eve in Boston were long gone... Maybe, because the distance was too far, she had long forgotten how to express intimacy.
