The baby lay there motionless and didn't cry, which scared Valentine Teller out of her wits until the doctor came and told her that the baby was fine, just sleeping. Newborns need to sleep for at least twenty hours a day, so not to disturb her rest.
Only then did Valentine feel relieved, wiping away her tears, she leaned over the incubator, staring unblinkingly at her baby.
The newborn, being premature, had a severely wrinkled face, looking like a little old man.
The little girl was less than four pounds, such a small thing lying there.
Valentine wanted to hold her daughter in her arms. Her milk had already come in, and she could feed the child. Maybe after nursing on her milk, the child would grow faster, soon becoming a chubby baby.
However, the doctor didn't allow her to breastfeed the baby directly, instructing her to pump the milk and have it fed to the baby by a nurse using a special bottle for premature infants.
