Clearing all distractions from his mind, he threw himself completely into his work. His brow gradually relaxed as the night grew deeper and deeper.
Mark Reed closed his laptop, twisted his stiff neck, and kneaded his shoulders. An overwhelming fatigue surged through him as he threw himself onto the bed. Before he could close his eyes, he suddenly remembered there was still something very important he hadn't done.
He jumped up from the bed, grabbed the room card from the table, and headed out.
Standing at the door of the next room, all his earlier fatigue vanished as he became fully alert.
He opened the door with the room card, gently pushed it open a crack—no light came through, and there was no sound.
