Chapter 79: Yuto's Reputation Sweeps Through the Entire School!
Because the club betting continued for two full weeks, everyone in the school, whether teachers or students, now knew of a first-year Class D student named Shimizu Yuto.
This first-year had challenged almost every club in the school.
However, that was not the most shocking part. The most shocking part was that Shimizu Yuto had no losses.
This first-year was simply not human!
The seniors who had wagered against Yuto all said that Shimizu Yuto was a demon. After his reputation became so famous, the moment students in clubs heard Yuto introduce himself, they immediately killed any thought of betting against him.
They could not win anyway, so why bet with him?
Did they think they had too many points?
Yuto's dazzling betting record had already spread into the Class D classroom. Now, whenever the students of Class D heard others mention the name Shimizu Yuto, they would show proud and honored expressions.
Although they were not that amazing themselves, that amazing student was in their class.
He was their classmate.
They shared in his glory.
With Yuto's fame and prestige supporting him, the students of Class D naturally began seeing him as the core of the class. With Hirata Yosuke and Kushida Kikyo taking the initiative to suggest it, Yuto smoothly became Class D's class representative.
With that, the first step in Yuto's domination of Class D, increasing his fame and prestige, could be considered fully complete.
These days, Yuto's school life was very fulfilling and pleasant.
Every night, he and Airi would work up a sweat in his apartment, lost in each other's arms.
In the morning, he went running with Suzune. After entering the classroom, he was surrounded by the girls led by Kei and Kikyo, chatting with them closely.
After school, he strolled through the club building to see whether he could earn more points.
Right now, Yuto was greatly enjoying this school life.
One afternoon, after school, inside the student council office, a restless Nagumo Miyabi looked toward Manabu, who was handling documents, and spoke.
"President, I wonder if you've heard about a certain malicious matter recently."
"What matter?" Manabu answered calmly.
"Recently, it seems there is a first-year student on school who keeps causing trouble for clubs. He uses various methods to threaten and pressure club members into betting points with him."
"This behavior is truly vile. The student council should step forward and stop him."
Although Nagumo did not mention the first-year's name, everyone in the student council knew who he was talking about.
A first-year Class D student: Shimizu Yuto.
After all, Yuto's personal reputation had already spread throughout the entire school with his absurd record of repeated victories. Students at this school might not have seen Shimizu Yuto in person, but they had definitely heard his name.
That was not an exaggeration at all.
Whenever Nagumo thought of Shimizu Yuto, the boy who had scammed him out of a huge number of points, becoming famous and active outside, his heart filled with dissatisfaction and anger. Even his already-healed ankle seemed to ache faintly again.
Manabu glanced at the slightly gloomy Nagumo.
"Nagumo, I have heard a little about that first-year as well. Tell me the reason the student council should stop him."
It was not merely "heard a little." Manabu had been paying close attention to Yuto's movements the whole time, so he probably knew more about him than Nagumo did.
"There are far too many reasons. Quite a few club students accepted bets with that first-year and lost their personal points, forcing them into hard lives."
"And also..."
Nagumo listed many reasons, but none of them stood firmly.
Manabu pushed up his glasses and spoke.
"Nagumo, none of those are reasons for the student council to intervene and stop that first-year. All the bets were backed by contracts, so even if someone lost all their personal points, that is within reason."
"Furthermore, after Shimizu Yuto made betting contracts with others, there were no unreasonable conditions. The student council cannot stop him."
"President, how can you be certain there were no 'unreasonable conditions' in those betting contracts?" Nagumo asked.
"Simple." Manabu glanced flatly at Nagumo. "So far, the student council has not received a single protest or complaint against Shimizu Yuto from any student."
"Does receiving no complaints prove there were none? Isn't that a little one-sided?"
"Couldn't it be that they feared Shimizu Yuto's retaliation and therefore did not dare come to the student council?" Nagumo argued.
"Perhaps."
"Nagumo, since you care so much about this matter, I'll leave it to you. Go collect evidence of any unreasonable contracts Shimizu Yuto made with other students."
"If you do, the student council will step forward and punish him."
"...Understood. I'll work hard to collect the relevant materials," Nagumo replied after a moment of silence.
In truth, Nagumo had already investigated it. However, Shimizu Yuto's betting contracts with other people were completely compliant and reasonable.
There were no "unreasonable conditions" at all. Because of that, the student council could not take the initiative to punish Yuto and could only allow him to keep earning other students' personal points through wagers.
After that, Nagumo led his two secretaries out of the student council office. Now, only Manabu and Secretary Tachibana Akane remained inside.
"President, Nagumo really doesn't hide his hostility toward Shimizu Yuto at all," Akane said softly.
"Mm." Manabu nodded.
Nagumo and Yuto had already come into conflict long ago, so it was only natural that Nagumo wanted to stop Yuto from making a name for himself. Moreover, the conflict between Nagumo and Yuto would likely intensify once Yuto joined the student council.
After Yuto became active in the school, Nagumo had even considered warning the second-year students not to accept point bets proposed by Yuto. However, doing so would only cause Yuto's reputation to skyrocket instantly.
It would be like announcing that the entire second year, along with student council vice president Nagumo Miyabi, feared the first-year Shimizu Yuto and did not dare bet against him.
So no matter how much Nagumo wanted to stop Yuto from earning points, he could not give the second-years an order telling them not to bet against him.
'I never expected Shimizu to be this well-rounded,' Manabu thought silently.
Other people only felt that Shimizu Yuto's undefeated record was terrifying. But Manabu knew that the truly terrifying thing was Yuto himself.
Shimizu Yuto had challenged clubs in the abilities they specialized in.
Chess from the chess club, swimming from the swimming club, track events from the track-and-field club...
He defeated people openly and fairly in their own areas of expertise. Shimizu Yuto could only be described as thoroughly all-around.
Other students only saw Yuto as an undefeated demon. But in Manabu's eyes, Yuto was an absurdly complete hexagon warrior.
"President, isn't it time to let Shimizu Yuto join the student council?" Akane asked Manabu.
As Manabu's supporter, Akane already knew his decision. She also wanted Yuto to join the student council and act as a counterbalance to Nagumo Miyabi.
Now that Yuto's reputation was so overwhelming, Akane felt that if Manabu used his authority as student council president to directly appoint Yuto as vice president, the other student council members would have no reason to oppose it. They could only understand and accept it.
"Now is not the time yet." Manabu shook his head.
"Normally, first-year students join the student council after their first month of school. So to let Shimizu enter the student council smoothly, we should wait until next month."
"I forgot about that," Akane said, looking embarrassed.
Because Nagumo had taken control of the second year, his influence in the student council had grown increasingly strong. Akane had been so focused on getting Yuto to join the student council and oppose Nagumo that she had forgotten first-years could only join after one month.
That rule existed to stop new students from learning information about the system, class points, and similar matters through the student council.
However, it was useless against Yuto, because he already knew all of that.
When Yuto sent Manabu the student council application form through Line, Manabu had also told him that he would only be able to join the student council after one month.
Yuto had no objections to that. In fact, he wished he could enter the student council and start working even later.
At dusk, Yuto sat on the wooden platform of the apartment. Before him was the already cleaned-up courtyard, now planted with many flowers.
Airi had personally bought all of these flowers. She had completely started managing this apartment as the home she shared with Yuto.
Chabashira Sae lay beside Yuto on the clean wooden platform, her long, alluring legs stretched out. Her lazy, casual expression made it seem as if she were in her own home.
Over the past two weeks, Chabashira Sae and Sakura Airi had thoroughly cleaned the apartment. Airi had taken over Yuto's laundry, leaving Chabashira-sensei responsible only for their three daily meals and washing the bento boxes.
Without realizing it, Chabashira had begun spending more time at Yuto's apartment than in her own teacher dormitory. Compared to her cold and quiet dorm, Chabashira seemed to prefer staying at the apartment where Yuto and Airi lived.
Talking with this troublesome brat made her feel calm and at ease.
Lying on the wooden platform, Chabashira opened her eyes. She glanced at Yuto's back, then looked toward the apartment kitchen.
After confirming that Airi would not come out, Chabashira spoke.
"Shimizu, let me tell you some bad news."
"What bad news?"
"According to my judgment, our class's one thousand class points have probably already been reduced by half."
"No way. There are only five hundred class points left?" Yuto looked surprised. "It's only been two weeks. There are still more than two weeks before the first month ends..."
"At this rate, the class points won't be deducted all the way to zero, right?"
"They will."
A melancholy expression appeared on Chabashira's pretty face. Then she patted Yuto's arm in annoyance.
"You troublesome brat, you were right."
"What?" Yuto looked at Chabashira, who had just hit him, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
"Didn't you say it before? Class D might become the first class in history to have all one thousand class points deducted within the first month."
"I was just teasing. Who could have expected everyone in Class D to really be that awful?" Yuto said helplessly.
"Sigh. The large deductions come from absences. If those few students didn't skip class so often, the class points wouldn't fall this quickly," Chabashira said with a sigh.
Chabashira was talking about Ike and the other poor students.
They had started skipping class on the third day of school. They were late, left early, slept in class, and played on their phones during lessons.
They did all of it, acting even more impulsively than brainless monkeys.
Because of Ike's group, they had already been seen by everyone in Class D as the idiot quartet. Even the little angel Kushida Kikyo, who wore a warm mask, deliberately avoided those four, afraid her own reputation would be dragged down by them.
"Chabashira-sensei, among the students you've taught before, have there been poor students like Yamauchi Haruki and Ike Kanji?" Yuto asked.
"Yes. Quite a few. Why?" Chabashira glanced at Yuto's back.
"Nothing. I'm just wondering what happened to them afterward."
"Afterward, because they did not follow discipline, they caused many class points to be deducted and were isolated by their classmates. Later, because they failed exams or were eliminated in special exams, they dropped out," Chabashira answered without hiding anything.
The reasons behind students dropping out were absolutely not something that could be told to students.
However, Chabashira and Yuto were already close collaborators. Her hope and obsession had been entrusted to Yuto, so what information could she not tell him?
"Dropped out, huh."
Yuto fell into thought.
When class points were at zero, it was probably the best time to expel poor students. Because every time a student dropped out, the class would lose three hundred class points.
But if the class points were already zero, then after a student dropped out, the points would not fall to negative three hundred.
"Chabashira-sensei, how does the school arrange things for students who drop out?"
Hearing that, Chabashira straightened slightly and looked at Yuto's handsome face with interest.
"Why are you concerned about that?"
"I'm just curious," Yuto said as if nothing were wrong.
"Is that so?"
Chabashira raised an eyebrow. She did not believe this troublesome brat was asking about what happened to expelled students out of mere curiosity.
"Can't you say?"
"What is there between us that I can't say?"
Chabashira suddenly realized that her words sounded a little ambiguous. So she added, "After all, we're partners."
"Then tell me what happens to the students after they drop out."
