The next day, Shringar woke up early and saw two messages on her phone. One was from Officer Prakash, informing her that the mysterious man had been murmuring a single incomprehensible word, "VeilTus", in front of both the police and the psychiatrist. However, the psychiatrist was able to identify his name as Raghuvendra Sinha. The other message was from Dorothy, stating that she would arrive at 2:30 p.m. with the others.
When Shringar stepped out of her room, she saw Nitish analysing a file. When she asked about it, he told her that it was was related to one of his patients whom he would be operating on the next day. Shringar noticed that Nitish had another laptop beside the one he was using, it looked distinctive: it was silver in colour, had unique designs, and bore a strange mark at the top that was not visible from her position. Nitish had two laptops: the one he was currently using was a plain black laptop, and the other beside it was the silver one, she thought. She decided not to disturb him, but she still informed him about the company she would have in the afternoon. As expected, he agreed.
Nitish is the kind of person who never really shows hesitation or irritation, even when he is uncomfortable. So I should stay on guard during the discussion so that it does not disturb him, Shringar thought.
Meanwhile, Nitish recieved a message from Officer Rani saying that she wanted to meet him that day. Nitish accepted with hesitation because from the next day onward, Shringar would start going to school, which meant he would need to stay alert. He wanted to complete all his works on time starting that day, so he asked Shringar to take care of the house until he returned.
On the other hand, the mysterious man was sleeping in his cell while the police kept an eye on him. They confirmed his name as Raghuvendra Sinha and began searching for his background. After a few minutes, Psychiatrist Vanessa arrived at the asylum. She was an old lady with completely white, boy-cut hair. She wore a fashionable white dress with black heels and bright makeup. The previous day, she had brilliantly extracted his name from him.
They woke Sinha up and asked him to sit in the interrogation room.
Meanwhile, Shringar was studying in her room when the doorbell rang. She looked through the peephole before opening the door. It was Dorothy, Elina, Sanskar, Gaurav, and Lalit. Shringar warned them that Nitish might return sooner or later and would be busy immediately, so they should not make much noise.
They all sat at the dining table with glasses of orange juice and began their discussion. Elina asked Dorothy to speak first. With a sigh, Dorothy tried to ease her anxiety and started, "I bought a recorder because I want to record our entire discussion today. I chose a recorder instead of using a mobile phone because phones can be hacked. This way, our conversation stays safe. This recording might help us find a clue about how everything is connected. If anyone has any objection, we will not do it."
Elina added, "We plan to send this recording to the police as well, because it will help them investigate the case better. All the tragedies carried out by people wearing ultraviolet- coloured clothes."
Gaurav agreed and said, "This is definitely an organization working behind the scenes. The person who killed Isha, Lalit's younger sister, and the person who killed the lady who received the parcel from Dorothy were different people."
Sanskar and Lalit both agreed to the recording. Shringar said, "It seems nobody has any objection, Dorothy. Please go ahead and record."
Dorothy started the recording, and with that, the incident of the Night of the Nightmare begun.
[[ It was a full moon night. It was my last delivery for the night, and after that I would be done with my work. The house was located in 36, Mandir Town. I rang the calling bell, and the door opened. The lady was in her mid-twenties, her name was Rashmika Sen.
I told her that I was from the Knight's Delivery Service and that I had a parcel for her. She seemed confused, because the parcel was unexpected, and she did not recognise the sender, Ragini Tendon. She asked whether I had confused her with another Rashmika. I clarified her full name and address, after which she asked me to enter the house before signing anything. She called one of her friends, Pinky, to ask about the parcel, but Pinky was also clueless.]]
"And the police found about Pinky," Dorothy said. "Her real name is Prerna Prasad, and she currently lives in London. She has nothing to do with the situation."
Dorothy continued:
[["How old are you?" Miss Sen asked.
"I am eighteen," I replied, "and I work part-time at Knight's Delivery Service."
"I am really impressed to see you working at such a young age," she said. "I am an archaeologist. My family lives in London, but I refused to go with them, which is why I live alone. It takes real courage to live by yourself."
"Why did you refuse to go?" I asked.
"Because of my work, and because of a promise I made to my professor," she replied.
"Promise?" I asked curiously.
She smiled. "Yes. My history professor was an amazing teacher. Strict, but unique. His name was Laksh Adhikari."]]
Sanskar almost screamed, "THAT'S MY FATHER! His…. Name was Laksh Adhikari, and he was a history professor at Minakshi University!"
Everyone was shocked, but Sanskar asked Dorothy to continue.
[[Miss Sen continued speaking as if she had been waiting to share her feelings. "He was a great teacher, but he died eight years ago," she said.
I was shocked and asked how.
"He was murdered by a man wearing ultraviolet-colored clothes. His eight-year-old son witnessed it and even gave testimony. The murderer noticed him, but he jumped out of the window and escaped, it was the ground floor. Professor Adhikari's wife, Swara Adhikari, died in an accident years earlier, but he was obsessed with the idea that she was murdered because of 'Swara', the Enigma.
He usually behaved normally, but sometimes his madness showed. He loved his family deeply. He asked me to look after 'Swara,' and I promised him I would. It is currently kept in a museum, so it is safe. Still, I have been researching Swara, its origin and everything I can find...
Honestly, I should not have told a stranger about this, but you reminded me of my childhood. I used to work part-time too, just for fun."
After a while, I left. But I realized I had forgotten my phone and returned. That was when the lights went out. When I reached the house, I saw her being killed, and her body fell down the stairs. I saw the man's face in the moonlight but could not identify him clearly because I was in shock. I ran away in fear and fainted. Lalit found me and called the police.]]
"Because of my mental condition I could not tell the police everything. "But now that I am feeling better, I want them to know the full truth."
Sanskar said, "So Miss Rashmika Sen knew my father very well. She knew many things about him. She had heard my entire testimony and later recounted it to Dorothy. The killer wanted something called 'Enigma,' which I believe refers to Swara."
Elina said, "I think we are getting somewhere."
Lalit then spoke, "Let's see. I think I know where this is going, and you all will catch up once you hear my case. My younger sister, who was twelve, was killed by one of those shitty guys. Gaurav witnessed it. Our neighbor Mr. Rahul Ravindran was a political analyst who researched and implemented policies with the help of government and organizations. His wife is Police Chief, Varnika Ravindran. He used to help us study social science. He had history honors, but social science was more of an excuse, he did not have his own child and used to see me and my sister as his own, which is why he accompanied us. Before secondary school, he also helped with E.V.S. But he was a good teacher towards my sister, so nobody really hesitated.
After the discovery of Swara, he kept his eyes on it since it is India's treasure. Due to Swara's existence in the land of India, we have witnessed significant development in our country. For that reason, other countries want their hands on this powerful energy. Keeping in mind the current geopolitics, Rahul uncle had a meeting with the Prime Minister to increase Swara's security, and after that, he died. He was murdered by those bastards. It was witnessed by my sister and she even saw one of their faces. She was asked to give the culprit's description to the sketch master, and she was going to the police station... those bastards... My sister..." Lalit started to cry, and Shringar immediately brought a glass of water for him.
Gaurav stated, "Due to Lalit's tuition, he gave me the responsibility to take Isha to the police station with her father safely. But they shot her when her father was busy on an important phone call, and I could not save her..."
Elina's eyes went numb listening to their tragedies. After a few minutes of silence when everyone settled down a bit, Lalit said, "On that night, when I found Dorothy, I was chasing down the guy who killed Miss Sen, but because the lights went out, I could not do much."
Sanskar patted Lalit and said, "Now that we are together, we will definitely do something."
They all nodded with utmost determination in their eyes.
Now Shringar got up and explained her situation, including her conversation with Officer Prakash in Tingle Coffee Shop and the incident with the lunatic guy in the Pandal. After that, she started connecting all the dots.
"So we got to know that these murderers are actually from a secret organization. The lunatic guy's name is Raghuvendra Sinha which was sent by Officer Prakash to me. The most crucial information we got right now is that these tragedies are all involved with Swara, which is also known as Enigma, a code name used by my father and Sanskar's father. Also, all the victims are somehow connected to history or subjects related to history.
So due to this discussion, we also got to know that this organization is trying to get their hands on Swara, or else why would they kill everyone like this? Sanskar's father was killed because he did not agree to pass the Enigma to them. Their killings started again right after Chief Varnika's husband Mr. Rahul's, plea to increase Swara's security. They are also desperately trying to get their hands on the documents containing details of Swara from Rashmika. Perhaps they are also trying to get their hands on more things we are not aware of at this point, but at least we know that everything is connected to Swara."
Sanskar said, "But see, we also do not know their motives completely. Is it only power they are after? Even if that is the case, then why are they so desperate for that kind of power? How huge and dense is this organization? Why did Mr. Raghuvendra Sinha became a lunatic? What is VeilTus? And many more questions, because we have no idea about that organization except that they wear Ultra violet colored clothes like cults."
Shringar said, "At any rate, these are very important connections we got here today, and it will be better if we quickly send the recording to the police. Because the rest is their job. I am sure that Chief Varnika will definitely be happy to get our contribution in this case. Depending on the situation, I am sure she has already figured these out, but our recording will help as concrete evidence."
Suddenly, the calling bell rang. Shringar went to open the door. When the door opened, Dorothy's eyes widened. Her anxiety started to emerge again. The person who had just come in was none other than Dr. Nitish. But for some reason, Dorothy could not shake off her anxiety.
