Chapter 128 - chapter 28

Yes! Get up. It won't be long now. You are so diverse... yes! Finally, an abomination obeyed me. The necessary invasion is complicated, but it rises impossibly strong and full of much power. Its life force is strange, as is its magic. Yet I will absorb it—I am, after all, the King of the Undead.

I review with disdain the fields where Arach sacrificed her troops. All I need is to send insects to cover the bodies that the winners will bite. The chaos creatures devour while my essence is not in their prey. It is true that I agreed it with Morgana, but even though she took it only as a measure "to avoid friendly fire," I use it to claim the bodies of the fallen. The spiders are easy—dominated bodies with no intelligence of their own. Now they have one... Mine. But the most important thing comes at this very moment.

My insects covered the bodies of several minor attackers, which disappeared into the snouts of chaos's progeny. At this very moment, they are still searching for them, while my beetles and cockroaches quickly gnaw their skin to begin the slow work of marking the runes, starting on the arms, so that later their nails help me with the engraving. Those are small—elongated, reptilian bodies. Others look like dogs with disproportionate snouts and claws that distill venom. None very large, but I already have hundreds in my possession. If I add them to all the spiders that originally belonged to Arach, in two days I have achieved an incredible number of subjects in three days. Meanwhile, underground, my troops grow with what is truly worthwhile.

Warlocks, evil mages, a couple of mad alchemists—I managed to "set them aside," and now they rise, under my order, while they forget their creator. They only need to give me power, obey, and not die until they quench my thirst for knowledge. They live, grow, fight until they return to Chaos—without fear, without mind, belonging to a new species that, no matter how much it changes forms and apparent races, is the same. Incredible.

By day five, I already had my forces as before that human mage's trick. Thousands on the plains, thousands underground. Finally, I can have my vengeance complete. But for now, I cannot move them—Morgana's armies do not move, do not attack, nothing happens. But they do not step aside. What to do?

Two days have passed. I have performed tests, and they do not attack me even though I have attacked some of the weakest in their ranks—a few warriors, all using things from the cave, throwing arrows they left broken, axes abandoned by fallen enemies. I know I have a non-aggression pact with the Queen of Chaos, but the temptation is great. There, in both the surface and this cave, there is a showcase—impossible characters, incredible bodies, a power I cannot let pass... You don't want to let me out? Perfect! Then I will gain more strength, arming myself to the point where even you cease to be a threat.

I have been diminishing their ranks for ten days, but they do not stop growing. My troops pile on top of each other—there is no more space in the cave or on the plain. A circle of chaotic bodies prevents the slightest movement. I have pushed them, massacred their masses of claws, teeth, and muscles, but nothing. Barely do I eliminate some when others devour their bodies, taking their place. If I hide them from them, they leave them, but even so, they keep their space. I cannot get out of here. Below, the situation is the same. As far as my sight reaches, these chaos creatures still outnumber my forces—but that is impossible! I have tens of thousands—I am a legion! No one should oppose death! Why won't you let me win?

"Because death is not you, pathetic elf."

Damn it! She has discovered me. Quickly, I must draw out all the magical potential, all the life they have. Have my warriors, mages, crushers attack—do not hesitate. They must die, they must make a path. There are beasts that explode, some that release acid, others like the spiders I procured—I try to make them escape above, but the chaos beasts surround them, create an increasingly heavy dome. I feel the pressure—my forces must be hundreds of thousands, but they are millions, billions, overwhelming me, charging through every available space. Not even my insects are escaping... there are too many.

"That is the reality, little dead flame. You will have skills. You can hide as long as you want to think, but I do not sleep, I do not need to eat. I am my own food. The blood of my troops is their drink. They only need space—that is what I asked for, that is what I will get."

I have to hide. Come on, runes, trace quickly! My troops begin to burst from the pressure. They are wine that those beasts consume. My little poisonous ones are consumed—they kill, but they also eat those victims and keep doing so until the poison's effect dissipates among hundreds of chaos members. Meanwhile, I feel her forces searching for me, several of my protections falling. I only have enough to warn the king, on the isle. We cannot allow her to strengthen further. She must die; she is a terrible threat. I send the message protected. It will take a few weeks to locate the sphere where she awaits me. I have not communicated in years—not since I became the Lich. But this is not a matter of egos; the entire elf species is threatened at this rate. The only salvation is for him to come.

"I found you! "

Demons! My cave is filled with enemies in seconds. Where did they come from? How did they find me so quickly? I could use the magic I have accumulated—I have enough to eliminate life in thousands of bodies... but there are still millions outside. How frustrating. A figure that vaguely reminds me of the princess but is made from the bodies of many of these animals speaks to me.

"You did what I thought you would do. Did you not feel superior? Did you not say that no one could stand against your power? Look at yourself—a little insect pile. All your power will not be necessary. I did not come for the remains of your life. I am here so you could speak to your old friends. This way, I will be able to grow... I don't remember having more than one corrupt elf, but you violated the non-aggression pact, so you will pay with your people Hahahahahahahahaha! "

All the Chaos monsters withdraw. Not a single animal remains under my control. Everything was destroyed. If I were alive, I would sweat. If I were not a solitary corpse, I would know I fear for someone other than myself... I condemned my race.
