Chapter 120 - Unseen Enemy

VACAITON! Do you guys smell that? It smells like FREEDOM! Those bastards at work knew I was going on vacation and gave me the toughest work. Now two of us are on vacation and one is sick. I hope they have overtime for the bullshit they did. *insert Ikkaku(bleach) happy dance*

Marcus and Fenrir Pack are in a pinch. They call Harry, but it would take time for him to arrive. Naturally it would be idiotic for Harry to just rush in. The element of surprise is important in situations like these. You have one chance to deal as much damage as possible because once you do your position is revealed and you are a target.

So their job was to stay strong and take out as many of them to weaken their formation making it easier for Harry. But its not like he didn't leave them without any defenses. They were defending a potion store and its time to show them what that means.

The wolves stood in front of several cannons that were hidden and aimed at their enemies.

"Fire!" Marcus yelled out, but was only heard by his people inside the barrier. The wolves channeled their magic and the cannons silently fired, since they were shot with air.

Shhu, Shhu, Shhu. Shhu, Shhu, Shhu...

The magicians raised their heads and saw projectiles incoming. But they didn't panic, the front row raised their staffs and created magical barriers, while the back row shot out spells to meet the projectiles.

Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom...

Those projectiles were potions, various types of potions. The first were the unstable explosive potions Harry developed. If they just defended against them they were in for a nasty surprise. But their real goal was to set out a chain of detonations breaking the other potions as well unleashing multi colored clouds across the battlefield. Only 30% of the potions exploded while the rest were filled with these strange clouds.

"What the hell!" "A smokescreen?"

"So stupid" a low class newbie just rushed through the smoke screen to go pummel the barrier some more. He needed to show some incentive to rise through the ranks. And if he managed to be the one to break the barrier even by luck, that would be a big thing for him.

He took out a big hammer and mana coursed through his limbs and onto the hammer.

THUMMM.

He slammed the big hammer onto the barrier causing that part to pulse with energy as it absorbed the impact. He smirked when he saw the barrier shake. But then he felt something wet around his eyes and cheeks.

"Huh?" he touched his cheek and looked at his hand. It was covered in blood. Same thing was happening to the grunts who passed through the cloud, they looked at each other and saw blood coming from all the orifices.

"poison..."

Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud.

Legendary Viper's poison. Silent, deadly and extremely efficient. No pain, no signs, the most demanded poison on the black-market.

The poison they threw at the magicians was a prototype before the perfected version. Harry never throws anything away. He ither sells an incomplete product for some cash or keeps it just in case. And in this case he turned it into a wide range smoke cloud. Because why not.

Michael grinned once he saw them die "Say what you want the kid is a genius and brutal. I was confused at first when he just said throw potions in case of emergency. But to think he did this."

Marcus grabbed a few more potions "You haven't seen nothing yet" he threw a few more bottles specifically aimed at the long range fighters.

"Fall back!" "Its Poison!"

The five Mid-Class magicians had grim looks on their faces. They didn't expect this much resistance, let alone the losses they are taking. But one thing confused them. Their family has obvious connections to the black market, yet this is the first time they have seen.

The grunts noticed ones looked different. So they didn't let their guard down. They used their strongest barriers to block a wide range of spells that have negative intentions towards the user. The closest thing low level magicians have to a Protego which is an universal shield for wizards against many kinds of curses and spells.

One of the Mid-Class magicians also stepped up, and set up the same barrier only bigger and shieled the ones who focus on Enchantment Magic. Only for the bottles to slip right through the barrier.

""""What!""""

The bottles broke on impact and splashed them.

"Medic!" many of them started to panic, but then they noticed nothing bad was happening.

"Wait I feel stronger?"

"Now that you mention it me too."

"Did they throw the wrong potions?"

"But why make us physically stronger"

Marcus grinned once he saw their confusion, those weren't ordinary Strengthening Potions. They were deliberately tampered by Harry. It does give an overall physical strength boost but after a few minutes the drawback starts. Extreme stamina exhaustion. So much so that you can't even stand on your feet. A failed and flawed potion something you would receive the worst grade in school is now used as a weapon.

Not all magicians here were long range specialists. Some used swords and spears, strengthening their bodies with mana. On them the effects were worse, a little power boost and you are then down for the rest of the fight. Since they were using magic on their bodies their mana would also suffer exhaustion.

They waited a few more minutes until the magicians started to move slower and became more lethargic.

"Second wave!" Marcus yelled out

Shhu, Shhu, Shhu. Shhu, Shhu, Shhu...

Potions were in the air once again. Marcus used a large wide range wind spell to break the bottles. Then all of a sudden a raging wave of fire started to spread, further being blown forward by the wind.

Wyvern Fire in a bottle.

~

"Hmm. Interesting" A man in the shadows watched as the siege was underway. He was the real leader of this mission. An Elder of Gato's * cough, cough* Oliver Russle's Family.

He was Reginald Wrigth.

He was a High Class Magician. Admittedly the weakest one in the Family, he broke through a few of years ago and still wasn't even a proper low-High Class. He was just enjoying the benefits that came along with the position.

Unlike the other magician's he was still young and was enjoying the benefits of the position. Being an elder of the family means you can sit back and relax. You enjoy all the benefits and the money and only need to show up when there is a threat or an important target to acquire.

But since he was still new and younger then the others, his position wasn't as solid, not that he cared. If he worried about inter family politics he would never get some rest. Better to spend his time enjoying good food and women.

The Magical Families in Britain follow a simple hierarchy. Actually it was very similar to the way the mafia operated. The leader and his family at the top. Then come the boss's right hand who handles day to day affairs.

After that were the officers. The High Class Magician's. Each of them had their own Mid-Class subordinates who in turn lead their own teams of Low-Class Magician's or Fighters.

Now contrary to popular belief being a Magician doesn't always mean sitting in the back and throwing spells. There are many types of magic, the simplest one is Mana Enchantment along with a few attack spells. Many of the Low-Class follow this route.

As you climb the ranks the magic gets more and more complex.

Take him for example. He focuses on attack magic Fire and Lightning like most magicians above Low Class do. As force is most useful. The experts are almost always attack oriented.

They do have a few mages in the family which focus on Water and Earth magic in case they were attacked and needed extra defense that barriers and magic circle shields could provide.

And since they didn't expect such a strong resistance they brought none of the defensive mages with them. They usually are stationed in their base or important logistical locations.

But aside the point. Unleashing a powerful attack and wiping out a few city blocks makes you a High Class. But to be a good High Class Magician you need more than raw power.

A proper magic circle to start, the better the magic circle the more efficient you can fight. A good staff as an extra foci is also good. Especially in a situation where you can't keep up with the calculations. Taking out a staff and just blasting magic through it works quite well.

Defensive artifacts are also crucial. Magicians are quite weak physically making them the go to target to eliminate first. And the most important one, Knowledge on how to modify spells.

Now anybody can make a spell even on their own. Using MageCraft requires lots of calculation and knowledge about science. But there is also a part that is similar to programing. You make a spell and by some miracle it works.

But you try to tinker with it and all you get are bug's and error's and you have no idea what's wrong with the code.

So lets say you need the Fire ball to turn right. You need to do precise calculations about the distance, the force, the intensity of the flame and etcetera. But you also need to put these calculations in the right place in the code.

And since preexisting spells have a lot of errors in them, the spell just fails. That's why most stick to tried and tested family spells. These families have spent a lot of time and effort into making the spells work properly and that can be modified correctly. And have permanent members who focus on developing spells.

The higher you go up the power ladder the stronger spells you need. You can't just keep overpowering weaker spells that you have a grasp on and hope for a miracle. Better use spells that suit the level of mana that you have.

Humans don't have the innate power that devils have, they just have to imagine the fireball changing direction. While magicians have to go over these complicated processes.

Reginald watched as some of his men died. 'Poison, well not surprising. But the fact that they died so fast means its a very strong poison. After I beat the brat and capture him we will have it all. The Pots the Potions and everything else he knows.. What the bloody hell is that?'

He watched speechlessly as his men started to get stronger 'Did they throw the wrong potions? Do you have so many that you can mistake them or are you just randomly throwing them now. Damn it! Look how much their strength increased. What a fucking waste, these would be very useful for the family' Reginald silently cried in his mind of the waste of money. He had come from humble beginnings, even though he is an elder now and has an absurd amount of money, he is always known as a cheapskate and saves money when he can.

Treating himself to good food or women doesn't count. That is relaxation. But anything else, hell no. He secretly counts the money he has on him and constantly checks his ever growing back account.

He was broken from his thoughts as the next wave of potions arrived, only for them to be turbined into a wild wave of extremely hot flames. 'SHIT!' even he couldn't sit still with that, he had to block it lest he loses his Officers. Low-Class scrub can be found everywhere. But every faction in Britain is on the lookout for free Mid-Class fighters or magicians to join their family.

~

Harry watched as the leader went to the front and made a big ass barrier. He was under the Death Cloak and layered more spells on himself

'High Class huh, well this is definitely a trap for me. But who is desperate enough to send one after me.? Welp doesn't matter. Now lets get this show started.'

As Harry walked from the woods and towards his enemies his magic subtly spread out in the air, he was gathering all the oxygen and hydrogen he can get without alerting anyone. And seeing as how they were focused on dealing the Wyvern Fire at the front he unleashed his attack.

'Take this you pests. Lets see you block this, Explosion Magic Mini Nuke, Fiendfyre, Fjendfyre Diabolica' (Protego Diabolica but without any defensive qualities) He unleashed it all on the unsuspecting group in front of him, they set a trap for him yet now they were the ones boxed in.

Reginald was the first to notice the strong magical fluctuation behind him. He didn't even have to think, he immediately created a barrier behind him. His second in command did the same.

Unfortunately the others were a bit too late. They were either distracted or weakened by the potions. The fires on both sides eliminated all the remaining Low Class enemies. Along with the Mid Class. Leaving only the Leader and one Mid-Class officer.

The weakened Officer who was doused with Strengthening Potion and another Mid-Class died instantly, the third one actually survived but he was out of the fight.

Harry could have gone for the High Class but that was risky and there was a high chance that he would block it. So Harry went for the safe route, take out his back up, injure and kill as many as he could.

Then turtle up behind the barrier and annoy the living shit out of them. 'Who knows, maybe I'll be so annoying that they will leave on their own. Just for shits and giggles. For 'shigles' as the legendary Jack Black said it'

Only Harry was actually insane enough to try this. He wasn't even peak Mid-Class. His opponent was in the beginning of High Class. Just one of him can wipe out dozens and dozens of Mid Class.

Harry looked at the grim faces of the two magicians in front of him. He summoned a little flame on his palm and made it flicker a little "Now then gentlemen. What kind of business do you have with me?"
