Chapter 1005 - The Path Was Never For Me

Every year, a hundred men and women were granted the honor to grace the capital city of Hamleth. There, on an empty throne, sat their god–present only in spirit and not body, and yet the faithful made the climb atop the impossible plateau to have a chance to set their eyes on his visage. Many slaves they would bring with them, and they were promptly put to work throughout the city of gold and silver. 

Only the castle of the god's throne and the walls surrounding it were the capital's residence; however, with the slaves left behind even after the pilgrims left, they had but two choices. To stay and keep the city clean with a chance to be freed once the next pilgrims arrive, or to try their hands at the descent–a sheer fall that none granted Hamleth's grace could survive.
