Chapter 258 - Chapter 248:: Giselle’s Heart A Maid’s Silent Confession

Everything began with that single thunderbolt.

Giselle stood alone on the deck of the ship heading toward the Mandarin Island, the sea breeze gently tugging at her long brown hair. The sun was setting, painting the sky in soft oranges and pinks, but her mind was far away lost in memories she couldn't escape no matter how hard she tried.

Flashback – Pokémon Academy Plaza

The roar of the crowd at the academy still echoed in her ears.

She had been the undisputed chief student. The pride of the junior class. The girl everyone looked up to. Her Graveler and Cubone were supposed to be unstoppable against a mere rookie traveler.

Then that boy in the red-and-white cap stepped forward with his Pikachu.

One Thunderbolt.

That was all it took.

The electric strike hit like divine punishment. Graveler and Cubone collapsed, bodies charred and twitching. The entire plaza fell silent. Giselle remembered the way her legs trembled as she dragged herself to the crater left by the attack. Her lips twitched. Tears actual tears had rolled down her cheeks before she could stop them.

How…? How could a rookie with a Pikachu humiliate me like this?

She recalled her own cold words to that blue-haired idiot who tried to comfort her:

"Why didn't you say that when he was mopping the floor with you?"

The contempt in her voice. The way she had walked away with her head held high, even as her pride shattered.

That same night, she made her decision.

"I'm graduating early."

The teacher's shocked face still made her smile bitterly.

She had told herself it was for growth. For experience. But deep down, she knew the truth.

"I will defeat that hat-wearing Pikachu trainer at the Indigo Plateau Conference. I'll humiliate him. Make him regret insulting me. Force him to kneel and beg for forgiveness… then make him my servant. He'll pinch my legs, beat my back, wash my feet with that humiliated look on his face…"

She had spent nights fantasizing about it like a drama queen. The proud genius reduced to her personal maid-boy.

How naive she had been.

Flashback – The Indigo League Finals

The roar of eighty thousand people still rang in her ears.

She had stepped onto that stage full of confidence, certain that her aunt Lorelei's Pokémon would crush him.

Cloyster. Vaporeon. Electabuzz. Dewgong.

All of them elite-level.

And then Ash had answered with legends.

Articuno first. The stadium had frozen. The temperature dropped so fast she could see her breath. Then Zapdos. Then Moltres.

Three legendary birds.

Her team hadn't stood a chance.

She remembered falling to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably as the referee declared Ash the Champion. Makeup ruined. Pride destroyed. The smug "chief student" was gone.

Ash had walked over, trophy in hand, and looked down at her with those calm eyes.

"You lost the bet."

Six months as his maid.

She had whispered "Yes… Master…" with tears still falling.

That was the moment everything changed.

Giselle leaned against the railing, cheeks warming as she remembered the first few days after the bet.

She had expected a cruel, arrogant master. Someone who would enjoy breaking her.

Instead…

She had stepped into the Ketchum household in Pallet Town and been completely stunned.

Delia Ash's mother had welcomed her with open arms and the warmest smile, immediately offering homemade cookies and treating her like family. Cynthia, already two months pregnant with Ash's twins, had been kind and graceful, gently teasing Ash while resting a hand on her belly. Amber, his adopted sister, had bounced around excitedly, calling Giselle "new big sister" without hesitation.

And then there were the other girls.

Misty, Sabrina, and Daisy all living openly with Ash, clearly in love with him. No jealousy. No fighting. Just warm, genuine affection.

Giselle had been speechless.

This… this is the boy I wanted to humiliate? This is the life he lives?

She had expected a cold mansion and strict orders.

Instead, she got a chaotic, loving home where Ash laughed freely, helped with chores, and treated everyone with gentle strength.

The first time Ash had ordered her to "relax and stop acting like a maid for today," she had frozen.

He hadn't used the bet to humiliate her. He had used it to… free her?

Orange Islands – The Slow Fall

The memories from their journey flooded her mind one by one.

The first time on Lapras's back when Ash had playfully declared himself "Captain" and made her play along. She had sighed dramatically in her maid outfit, but secretly… her heart had fluttered when he grinned at her.

The beach day on that small island. Ash had ordered her to take the day off from maid duties. She had changed into a beach dress, feeling strangely exposed. When she caught him glancing at her with quiet appreciation, her face had burned. She had quickly looked away, telling herself it was just embarrassment.

Then there were the quiet nights.

When the group cuddled together, Ash always made sure there was space for her too even if she sat a little apart at first. The way he gently pulled her closer one evening when she looked cold. The warmth of his arm around her shoulders. The steady beat of his heart.

She had told herself it was nothing.

"I'm only here because of the bet. I don't like him. I refuse to like him."

But the tsundere walls were cracking.

Every time Ash protected the group with that calm confidence whether against poachers, helping Matio regain his spark, or shielding them from danger she felt her chest tighten.

The way he reassured Tracey about the old Scyther on Murcott Island. The kindness in his voice when he spoke to the injured Pokémon.

And the most dangerous moments…

When he looked at her really looked with those warm brown eyes and said simple things like "You don't have to wear the maid outfit all the time, Giselle. You look beautiful without it too."

Her heart would race so fast she had to turn away and pretend to be annoyed.

"Stupid Ash… making my heart do this…"

She had started noticing everything.

The way his muscles moved when he trained with his Pokémon. The gentle smile he gave Cynthia when talking to her on the phone. How he always made sure everyone ate well. How he never once treated her like a servant despite winning the bet.

Slowly, steadily, the hatred and pride she once held had melted away.

Replaced by something warmer. Scarier. Sweeter.

Tonight, as she stood on the deck watching the stars reflect on the dark sea, Giselle finally stopped running from it.

She pressed a hand to her chest, feeling her heart beat faster just thinking about him.

The way he laughed with Misty. The soft way he spoke to Sabrina. The protective arm he put around Daisy.

And the small, secret glances he sometimes gave her as if he was waiting for her to be ready.

"I… I think I'm falling for him," she whispered to the night wind, voice barely audible.

A soft, embarrassed laugh escaped her lips.

"Me… the proud chief student… falling for the boy I swore to humiliate. How ridiculous."

But there was no denial left.

She remembered the beach day again sitting in her beach dress, sunbathing beside him. The way her skin had tingled when his arm brushed hers. The warmth that spread through her when he told her to "just enjoy yourself."

She was no longer just fulfilling a bet.

She wanted to be close to him.

Wanted to see that gentle smile directed at her.

Wanted to feel his arms around her like he did with the others.

Giselle closed her eyes, a small, shy smile forming on her lips despite the blush burning her cheeks.

"Master Ash…" she murmured softly, testing the word with new meaning.

It didn't feel like humiliation anymore.

It felt… right.

Somewhere deep inside, the tsundere walls finally crumbled completely.

She was in love with Ash Ketchum.

And for the first time, she didn't want to fight it.

As the ship sailed onward through the Orange Islands night, Giselle turned her gaze toward the direction where Ash and the other girls were resting.

Her heart raced with a mix of nervousness and warm anticipation.

"I still have months left on this bet… but maybe… just maybe… I don't want it to end."

With that soft realization blooming in her chest, Giselle allowed herself one quiet, romantic thought before heading back inside.

"One day… I hope you'll look at me the same way you look at them… Master."
