Chapter 283 - Chapter 283: Orange League Finals Ash vs Drake Part 1

The next morning dawned bright and clear over Pummelo Island. Golden sunlight bathed the grand Pummelo Stadium, making its towering arches and banners glow with an almost ceremonial radiance. The air buzzed with excitement as spectators filled the stands, though many seats remained reserved for league officials and special guests. This was no ordinary match this was the Orange League Championship Final: Ash Ketchum versus Drake, the undefeated leader of the Orange Crew.

Ash walked confidently toward the center of the massive battlefield, his harem and Tracey walking beside him. He wore his signature outfit, but there was a new aura of maturity and focus around him.

Misty walked on his right, her hand brushing against his. "This is it, Ash. The big one. You've worked so hard for this."

Sabrina stayed close on his left, her calm presence radiating quiet confidence. "Your bond with your Pokémon is stronger than ever. Drake will feel that today."

Daisy smiled warmly, squeezing his arm. "No matter what, we're all so proud of how far you've come."

Giselle, walking just behind with graceful steps, nodded with determination. "Master Ash… show him the strength of our journey together."

Tracey was practically vibrating with excitement, sketchbook already open. "The atmosphere here is electric! I'm going to capture every second of this historic battle!"

Ash gave them all a reassuring smile. "Thanks, everyone. This one's for all of us."

They reached the center of the field where Drake was already waiting. The veteran trainer stood tall and imposing, his pirate-like coat fluttering slightly in the breeze, a confident smirk on his face. The two trainers shook hands firmly, their grips strong and respectful.

"Been looking forward to this, kid," Drake said with a deep, rumbling voice. "You've beaten all four of my crew. Let's see if you have what it takes to beat me."

Ash met his gaze steadily. "I'm ready. Let's give everyone a battle they'll never forget."

The referee stepped forward, microphone in hand. "This will be a full 6 vs 6 battle. The field will change its state after one trainer has three Pokémon unable to battle. Trainers, are you ready?"

Both Ash and Drake nodded.

At that moment, the flat battlefield beneath them began to shift dramatically. The ground rumbled as panels moved and transformed. The smooth surface disappeared, replaced by a rugged, rocky terrain with sharp boulders and uneven ground. In the center, a large pool of water formed, its surface rippling under the sunlight. The new environment was dynamic and challenging perfect for a high-level championship match.

Drake grinned. "Let's start this off! Ditto, go!"

A small, purple blob-like Pokémon appeared on the rocky field, its form jiggling slightly as it looked at Ash with curious eyes.

Ash didn't hesitate. "Eevee, you're up!"

His loyal mutated Eevee leaped onto the field with graceful agility, its fur shining under the sun. Eevee's eyes were sharp and confident, ready for whatever came next.

Battle Start!

Drake chuckled. "A classic choice. Ditto, Transform!"

Ditto's body glowed brightly as it began to change shape. Within seconds, it perfectly replicated Eevee's appearance same brown fur, same fluffy tail, same adorable yet determined expression. The two Eevee now stood facing each other on the rocky battlefield, creating a mirror match that drew gasps and cheers from the crowd.

Misty's eyes widened. "A Ditto transforming into Eevee right at the start? This is going to be tricky!"

Sabrina observed calmly. "Ditto can copy abilities and moves, but Ash's Eevee has unique mutations. This will test their bond."

Daisy leaned forward excitedly. "Eevee, show them what you can do!"

Giselle clenched her fists. "You've got this!"

Tracey was already sketching furiously. "A mirror match on a changing field? This is championship level already!"

Ash smiled confidently. "Alright, Eevee. Let's see what you're made of. Start with Quick Attack!"

Eevee dashed forward in a blur of speed, closing the distance rapidly. The transformed Ditto mirrored the move perfectly, charging forward with its own Quick Attack. The two collided in the center of the rocky field with a sharp impact, sparks flying as they pushed against each other before leaping back.

The battle had officially begun, and the entire stadium held its breath in anticipation.

After the initial colllison both pokemon gained some distance but drake's transformed ditto was no match for ash's real eevee and gained more diatance due to eevee's power.

The tension in Pummelo Stadium was electric. The newly transformed rocky field with its central pool created a dramatic battlefield that tested both strategy and adaptability. The crowd leaned forward in their seats as the mirror match between Eevee and Ditto began in earnest.

Drake wasted no time pressing the advantage. "Ditto! Quick Attack!, Once again"

The transformed Ditto blurred forward at high speed, mimicking Eevee's own Quick Attack perfectly. It was a direct challenge testing whether Ash's Eevee could outmaneuver its own copy.

Ash's voice was calm and confident. "Dodge it, Eevee!"

Ash's mutated Eevee moved with graceful precision. At the last possible moment, it sidestepped with effortless agility, the attack passing by harmlessly. The crowd murmured in appreciation at the clean dodge.

Before Ditto could recover, Ash followed up instantly. "Now, Shadow Ball!"

Eevee gathered dark energy between its paws, forming a crackling sphere of shadowy power. With a sharp cry, it launched the Shadow Ball directly at the incoming Ditto. The attack struck true, exploding in a burst of dark smoke that engulfed the transformed Pokémon.

The stadium erupted in cheers.

Misty pumped her fist. "Yes! Perfect timing!"

Sabrina's eyes sparkled with approval. "Ash read the movement flawlessly."

As the smoke cleared, Ditto was revealed, slightly singed but still in Eevee form. Drake quickly commanded, "Ditto, Dig! Minimize the damage!"

Ditto dove into the rocky ground with surprising speed, disappearing underground and leaving a small tunnel behind. The Shadow Ball's residual energy dissipated harmlessly above the hole.

Drake grinned. "Double Team, now!"

Multiple illusory copies of Eevee burst out from different holes around the field, surrounding Ash's real Eevee in a confusing circle.

Ash remained unfazed, a small smile forming. "Eevee, shift form Flareon!"

In a brilliant flash of light, Eevee's body transformed. Its fur ignited with fiery orange and yellow tones as it became the powerful Fire-type Flareon. The crowd gasped loudly this was the second time many had witnessed Ash's unique mutated Eevee in action since the Indigo League.

Drake's eyes widened slightly in recognition. "So that's the famous mutated Eevee…"

Ash pointed forward. "Full power Flamethrower into the holes!"

Flareon opened its mouth and unleashed a roaring torrent of flames, sweeping the intense fire directly into the tunnels Ditto had created. The heat was overwhelming, forcing Ditto to burst out from one of the holes in panic, its body scorched and smoking.

The entire stadium erupted in awe.

Misty jumped up. "That was incredible! The switch was perfect!"

Daisy clapped excitedly. "Flareon's power is on another level!"

Giselle watched with shining eyes. "Master Ash's command timing is flawless…"

Drake chuckled, clearly impressed. "Not bad, kid. That's a rare Eevee you've got there. Catching something so unique is impressive… but rarity alone won't win you this match. Ditto, Transform again become Flareon!"

Ditto glowed and transformed into a perfect copy of Flareon, matching the fiery form.

Ash countered immediately. "Eevee, change again Vaporeon!"

In another dazzling flash, Flareon shifted into the sleek, aquatic form of Vaporeon. Its body became streamlined and blue, perfectly adapted for the central pool on the field.

"Whirlpool!" Ash commanded.

Vaporeon summoned a massive swirling vortex of water, the powerful Whirlpool surging forward and engulfing the Ditto-Flareon. The Fire-type copy tried desperately to counter with a Fire Blast, but the water attack overwhelmed it completely. The flames were extinguished mid-air as the Whirlpool slammed Ditto hard, spinning it violently before smashing it into the rocky ground.

When the water finally receded, Ditto had reverted to its original purple blob form, lying motionless on the field, unable to continue.

The entire stadium exploded in thunderous applause and cheers.

Drake recalled Ditto with a respectful nod. "You did well. Take a rest." He then reached for his next Poké Ball. "Onix, let's go!"

The massive Rock Snake Pokémon emerged with a ground-shaking roar, its enormous body coiling across the rocky terrain, towering over the battlefield.

Ash recalled his Vaporeon (now back in Eevee form) with warm praise. "Excellent work, Eevee. You adapted perfectly."

He then took out another Poké Ball, tossing it high into the air with confidence.

The crowd fell into a stunned silence as the Pokémon appeared.

A collective gasp of awe and wonder swept through the entire stadium.
