If the Hundred Tribulations Gate hadn't caught disciples with potential they valued, they obviously wouldn't care so much about rescuing them. And if Carson and the others hadn't caught Callie Matthews, just an ordinary dragon with no special identity, the Dragon Clan probably wouldn't have cared that much either.
