Chapter 298 - Chapter 298 Tokyo Skytree

Logan had always felt that Sumika was more suited for the modern world, Moreover, there was a promise between them, one that carried great significance.

"The more Chakra is infused into it, the stronger the Space-Time fluctuations become. Once it reaches a certain threshold, the effect is proportional to the Chakra provided. So, if you have enough Chakra… theoretically, your idea might work."

Logan had been ready to act immediately, but the Elder finally poured cold water on him.

The Elder shook his head and said: "But this is impossible, the amount of Chakra required is beyond imagination. Even your shadow clone, which has half of your Chakra Reserve, is only barely enough to activate it, so bringing another person is definitely out of the question."

Of course, Logan had refused to accept that. He had pressed the Elder repeatedly, but the answer remained the same: it couldn't be done. There was nothing he could do about it.

So he had returned through the Summoning Technique with gloomy feeling. Now, as he sat on his bed, surrounded by the dark night instead of the golden light of the Divine Birds, he felt the tiny amount of Chakra in his body. At this time, he couldn't help but slumped in disappointment.

'There was no saving up for it. There was no way I could accumulate that much.'

'If Sumika could come here, this world would take care of everything. Capital's troubles would be left behind, and even the threats related to Akatsuki would vanish. If she ever got bored, the modern world's endless entertainment could destroy all tedium. Poetry, music theory, literature… everything she loved existed in an even more developed and abundant form here.'

"Sigh." Logan sighed again. Since the chances of making it happen were slim, he might as well focus on the present.

"Hey, man, can a guy get some sleep here?"

David, who was lying quietly, suddenly flipped over, springing up like a tightly wound coil snapping loose. His chubby face emerged from under the blanket, full of righteous indignation: "You've been muttering to yourself this whole time! And also sighing non-stop! Tell me, are you doing this on purpose?"

Logan froze at the sudden outburst, then waved his hand and said: "How could I possibly be keeping you awake? I'm just contemplating life."

"You..." David pointed a finger at him, 'Contemplating life? What a noble excuse!'

"I promise I won't make a sound." Logan raised his hand in surrender.

David made an exaggeratedly menacing expression to show he meant business before flopping back down with a thud.

The alarm clock on the nightstand showed that it was well past midnight. Logan glanced out the window, Tokyo, for once, seemed to be taking a brief rest. Apart from the warm yellow glow of the streetlights stretching into the distance, the streets below the hotel were eerily quiet, with barely any pedestrians or cars in sight.

"Hey, Fatty, I want to ask you something."

Under the quilt, David's stalwart body shuddered slightly. Logan glanced at him blankly.

"What is it?" The other party said dully.

"If cultivators still existed in this world, and the Spiritual Energy was so depleted, what would they do if they wanted to recover quickly?"

"..."

There was only silence on the other side of the bed next to him. Logan didn't actually expect an answer. He was just throwing the question out there to distract himself. Friends should be willing to sacrifice a little sleep for each other's troubles, right?

After a few seconds, there was still no response. Logan tried again: "Fatty?"

David finally poked his head out from under the covers, turning to face Logan in slow motion. His expression was a mix of pain and disbelief, "Is this what you were thinking about when you were contemplating life just now?"

Logan was momentarily speechless, "Uh… yeah, pretty much. Why?"

"Nothing. I just feel like complaining."

David flopped onto his back, looking thoroughly wounded. His next words carried the tone of a seasoned elder trying to talk some sense into a lost youth, "Logan, you're not a kid anymore. Stop fantasizing, and just go to sleep."

"You haven't answered me yet." Logan waved a hand in front of his face.

"Answer my ass!" David swatted his hand away, "You wanna restore Spiritual Energy? Just… just get struck by divine lightning or something!"

Mid-sentence, he realized how ominous that sounded and hastily corrected himself, "I mean… just zap all the cultivators out of existence! Problem solved!"

"Man, you're ruthless." Logan said with a chuckle, knowing that David was mentally exhausted from his out-of-context nonsense, so he was about to let him off the hook when…

'Wait a minute…'

'Divine lightning?'

Logan was stunned. His Chakra Attribute was Lightning, blinding blue-white energy, crackling electricity.

'Lightning… could that actually work?' A bold idea suddenly leapt out from the depths of his mind. It was practically screaming at him.

"Fatty, what's the tallest place in Tokyo? No… wait, the tallest place in all of Japan?" Logan asked in a somewhat urgent tone.

However, David had already reached enlightenment, he had transcended earthly concerns. He lay there peacefully, completely unmoved by Logan's sudden excitement.

Logan was helpless, but he wasn't completely clueless about Japan, so he murmured, "Let me think… Something tall, but not too far… A suitable place... Oh! I got!"

With his eyes closed, David secretly clenched his fists, 'Yes, just say the answer yourself and let me go back to sleep!'

"Tokyo Tower! That's it, right, Fatty?"

"..."

As Logan continued to nod in confirmation, he muttered, "Yeah, that sounds about right. The tallest structure… Tokyo Tower is super famous, that's why it sounded so familiar..."

"Bullshit!" David exploded, practically launching himself out of bed. He couldn't bear it anymore.

He had tolerated many things… his sleep being interrupted, Logan's nonsense, his ridiculous thought process!

But this?

This was the final straw!

"I! @#¥%…&*! Listen up, you ignorant fool! The tallest building in Japan is Tokyo Skytree!"
