Chapter 291 - Chapter 290 - How the World Reacts.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Great Britain.

...

...

While Severus flew toward the first city, the entire wizarding world was already receiving newspapers and news about his arrival, even though it was ten o'clock at night.

Quickly, everyone became attentive to listen to the radio broadcast, with an announcer repeating Severus's words through the magical radios. Every wizarding family had stopped everything they were doing to see what was about to happen, and now, after the fear that had afflicted them in recent days as they witnessed Japan's destruction, a new hope was born in their hearts.

The one who saved Hogwarts and the wizarding world of Great Britain from Voldemort was now in Japan, at that very moment.

"I am going to Japan", Severus Snape announces to the world — said the headline of the Daily Prophet newspaper.

Lily grabbed it quickly as soon as the owl dropped it at her house, running while still in her pajamas. Her parents were in the living room; no one had gone to sleep yet after listening to the entire broadcast. Even Petunia, who had seen the horror that had happened in Japan, was very worried and joined her parents and sister, since even her Muggle friends talked about nothing else these past days, as the news was open to the Muggle world as well and everyone was equally in panic.

Lily picked up the newspaper and read the headline, unable to stop her mind from filling with thoughts about Severus. When she finished, she heard her mother calling her from the living room.

"Lily, anything about Severus?" her mother asked, and the redhead walked over with the newspaper while finishing the first page.

"There's not much besides what we heard, Mum. But there's a picture of Sev.", she said, placing the newspaper on the table. Her father picked it up as well, reading.

"He's really going into that chaos…" Mrs. Evans murmured, looking a bit worried.

"He said he would solve it. If there is anyone who can change that whole tragedy, it would be Severus," Mr. Evans murmured.

Petunia remained silent, just watching her father's eyes on the newspaper he was reading.

"But did you see what those giants did? Do you really think he can handle that?" Mrs. Evans murmured, worried.

"We have no choice but to wait and see what will happen. But Severus saved Hogwarts, as you know. He fought like no one else. They couldn't even imagine someone facing an army of giant ants. All the students were there, and he protected them and won...", Lily said.

"She's right… It's just still hard to imagine that boy, a few years ago, always walking down the street with his head down or cautiously coming to look for Lily... Look at him now, he's going to save the world...", Mr. Evans murmured with evident surprise at the thought.

"Well, Severus was always destined for great things. I always imagined it, even when he no longer spoke to Lily," Mrs. Evans said, opening a small smile.

"Can you stop?" Petunia's voice echoed through the room, and everyone looked at her. "Why are you all treating that horrible being like a hero now? That disgusting creature who kept running after your daughter and my sister, he even called her an unforgivable name for you wizards! Lily herself told me that!", Petunia said, rigid.

"Petunia..." the redhead tried to speak, stunned, but Petunia's gaze was far too fierce.

"Don't look at me like that! You were talking to him again, weren't you? And now you look like some lovestruck girl!", Petunia said. "He is Severus Snape, a boy who is the son of Tobias, just as horrible as his father! Can't you see that?!"

"He's not like his father!" Mr. Evans tried to say something, but Lily stood up, roaring at her sister. The strength in her voice made Petunia step back a little before the redhead's raised posture, almost as if Lily would lunge at her.

"Stop treating people horribly! Stop treating Sev like that, full of bitterness! I know you never liked Sev, but that doesn't mean you have to be unpleasant all the time! Damn it, there is a country on the other side of the world full of victims and danger, and Severus is going there, going to fight alone! And you still think that's bad? What is your problem, Petunia? You may not like magic, but at least Sev is going to save people!", Lily growled.

"Then look at yourself! You even call him 'Sev' again! You went back to talking to him, didn't you?! Did you forget he offended you? Because now everyone likes him, right? Sure, isn't that it?" She opened a mocking smile.

"Ah, now I remember… I heard Dad and Mom saying that Snape is someone else now. That must be why he changed so much. But I can still see how horrible he is! Only I can see that in him! You're all blind!"

"You're right, he's still him… but he's not the jerk you say he is, Petunia! Severus is a hero famous throughout the wizarding world now, an important person. He saved our parents and me! Did you forget?!"

"He put us in that situation!" Petunia shot back.

"He saved us! Bad people attacked us, not Sev! If many people in the wizarding world heard you talking badly about him, they would all curse you!", Lily growled.

"Enough, you two! Especially you, Petunia! What has gotten into you? Severus is going to Japan and we're celebrating that he might save that country from those monsters!"

"Monsters from Lily's world that are now terrorizing normal people like us!!" Petunia retorted. She immediately regretted it when she saw her father's expression as he stood up.

"This has nothing to do with the magical world, Petunia. They come from another world! And think carefully before you answer me. I am still the authority in this house. Now go to your room and don't come back down. Your very presence is already unpleasant here," Mr. Evans said, while Mrs. Evans looked at their daughter, disappointed.

Petunia growled, stood up with clenched teeth, and headed for the stairs. She stopped before going up and cast them one last look.

"You may not see it, but I still do. Severus Snape is that same jerk. He can't have changed that much. He's just pretending… and he's going to destroy all of us, you'll see! Just don't regret it later!", she said, then began climbing to her room with heavy steps.

"What's gotten into her…?" Mrs. Evans murmured, still shaken by how their daughter had behaved; she was tired of Petunia's shouting.

"She's jealous. She can't accept that Severus changed. That he became something greater than he was," Lily replied, while her parents still looked toward the stairs. "She doesn't want us to see that. She wants Sev to remain that jerk she keeps as an image of him. She can't accept that Severus changed, that Severus became a hero, that he's now more communicative, confident…" Lily sighed. "Even handsome."

Mr. Evans raised an eyebrow as they looked at each other while she sat back on the sofa, arms crossed, staring at the Daily Prophet on the table where he had set it down. On the cover, the image of Severus in front of the Ministry, speaking firmly that he would go to Japan.

Elsewhere in England:

"Dad, look! Severus is going to Japan!" Pandora shouted excitedly, while her Muggle family looked at the newspaper in her hand, her father scratching his head, a bit worried that his daughter's fiancé was simply heading to that devastated place after disappearing for several days...

"Will he be alright, dear?" he asked as she opened a small smile.

"Of course he will. I believe he will. Sev is going to defeat all those evil giants," she said, a blue gleam in her eyes.

In another place in England, Clarisse was sitting with her family while they all remained silent, reading the newspaper, searching for information now that Severus had returned.

"He finally came back...", Clarisse murmured, resting her head in her hands.

"Will he be alright?" Clarisse's mother asked.

"He will. That boy is powerful and strong. He's making a name for himself for the whole world," Clarisse's father said with a sparkle in his eyes; it was the kind of son-in-law he could have never imagined having, looking through the newspaper for details.

Today, Severus Prince would be the most talked-about name in the entire world, depending on his performance — and everyone saw that clearly, the hope resting on his shoulders from everyone, especially the Japanese.

Clarisse looked at Severus in the newspaper with a gaze full of passion, admiration, and worry.

At the Black manor...

"Can I go?!" Bellatrix shouted from the other side of the table, holding the newspaper.

"Absolutely not!", her grandmother growled.

"I want to help too!", she insisted again.

"No, Bellatrix. I know you're stronger, I know Severus has been giving you some potions, but that is not a justification for you to invade that country full of chaos. You are staying here!", Astraea replied, leaving no room for discussion.

Bellatrix growled but fell silent. Her sister, Andromeda, simply observed while reading the newspaper. She had returned to the family and could even choose a path outside the Blacks' blood purity. Even so, the family supported her.

Regulus, meanwhile, watched with his own thoughts. Severus was now going to fight monsters no one else had been able to face.

"You don't need to be so worried, Bellatrix. I'm sure Severus will be just fine. He's already proven that, hasn't he?", Andromeda murmured.

"Who's worried? Tsk…", Bellatrix turned her face away, but Andromeda smiled as she saw her sister so concerned.

Meanwhile, the whole world continued receiving newspapers with Severus Snape's name now connected to Japan. Those who had known him throughout his journey, others who simply hated him, and a third group who didn't know him and had been indifferent until then… now all had their eyes fixed on the next updates.

Would Severus Snape really be able to handle the monsters?

Some dark wizards looked at Severus with greed, that dark power… they wanted to obtain it; such a powerful necromancer could dominate the world.

At Hogwarts, the teachers were gathering. In fact, classes should have already started — and they even had — but after what was happening in Japan, they were canceled again. With the tragedy, Dumbledore asked that the students remain in their homes with their families; they didn't know what would happen next, and while he was helping Japan, Dumbledore could not take care of the school alone.

In various parts of the world, people looked at the newspaper.

"So this is Severus Snape… do you think he can really help Japan?"

"He's so handsome… they say he's the most powerful wizard in the world. But he's so young… I wonder if he's single?"

"Oh, sister, you've dated half the boys at Ilvermorny and now you're eyeing this one? I doubt you can get him. I heard he's engaged. A friend of mine studied at Durmstrang and said he had girlfriends during the Tournament."

"What a shame… then," the girl murmured as her sister lifted her eyes.

Elsewhere in the United States:

"Look, do you really believe this guy can change the whole situation in Japan?", asked an American auror, entering the office while pointing at his partner beside him, who just huffed.

"I've heard about him. He was at that trial a few days ago."

"Of course he was! The trial was in every newspaper! Did you see the necromancy power they mentioned? Even a Dark Lord who terrorized Great Britain — now he's his servant! Madness, isn't it?"

"A man like that shouldn't be roaming free. But if he can really help Japan… then so be it," his partner replied, while the other shrugged and went back to eating some office cookies as they handled paperwork and their patrol duties, waiting for new updates from Japan.
