I woke up to a familiar void—vast, endless, and eerily silent. But I was alone. Daki was gone.
With a sigh, I ran a hand through my hair and sat up, quickly realizing something else.
I was still naked, since my physical body is back in the Demon Slayer world; its correct to say that my soul is naked.
"Death, did you kill me again?" I muttered as I got to my feet, stretching out the stiffness in my muscles.
A soft, velvety laugh echoed through the void. "Oh, Alex, you wound me," a voice purred, smooth as silk and laced with amusement. "You make it sound like I enjoy bringing you here."
I turned to see her lounging on a floating throne, draped in black and silver robes that shimmered with an ethereal glow. Her long, flowing hair flickered between shades of midnight and moonlight, as if the universe itself couldn't decide which hue suited her best.
And those eyes—deep violet, luminous, and knowing—watched me with unhidden amusement.
My wife. Death herself.
"Don't give me that look," I muttered, rolling my shoulders. "You do enjoy this."
She smirked, resting her chin in her palm. "I do enjoy seeing you, darling. The way you keep dying, though? That's all on you."
I sighed. "So? What is it this time? Did you just want to see me naked again?"
Death tilted her head, pretending to consider it. "It is a rather nice view."
I groaned. "Can we not do this right now?"
She waved a hand, and a dark robe materialized over me, covering me up before I could complain further.
"Better?" she teased.
"Much," I grumbled, adjusting it. "Now, why am I here?"
Death leaned back. "You have enough karma points and levels to go to the next world. Check it out."

"This quickly, I was hoping to stay a bit more, and I have yet to master breathing technique. huh, Well anyways, I was hoping to go to the New World (Overlord) next." I said.
Death hummed, twirling a lock of her ever-shifting hair between her fingers as she watched me with her usual amusement. "So, the New World, is it? Finally interested in seeing what your supposed 'canon' destiny was meant to be?"
I smirked, rolling my shoulders. "Figured I should at least take a look. That might be fun."
She chuckled. "You certainly have a habit of making things fun, my love."
But then, her amusement shifted slightly, and she leaned forward. "Are you going immediately? Or do you plan on telling your subordinates first?"
I scoffed. "Of course, I'm telling them. If I just disappear without a word, Albedo might actually lose her mind."
Death laughed at that, shaking her head. "True. That woman's devotion borders on obsession."
"It is obsession," I corrected. "I'd rather not deal with the aftermath of her thinking I abandoned them."
She nodded, but something about her expression told me she wasn't done questioning me. "So, you're off to inform your Guardians, and then you'll head to the New World?"
I hesitated for just a moment before shaking my head. "No. Not just yet."
Her violet eyes gleamed with curiosity. "Oh?"
"I need to head back to the DXD world first."
Death arched an eyebrow. "Oh? And why is that?"
I sighed. "Well, for starters, they're probably missing me. I did promise to meet them."
Death smirked. "And by 'they,' you mean Rias and the rest."
I gave her a flat look. "Yes, them too."
She grinned, but I ignored her amusement and continued. "Also, I need to talk to Mitsuri. I left things kind of… unresolved."
"Ah, the lovely Hashira," Death mused. "She is quite fond of you."
"Yeah, well, I owe her some closure at the very least." I exhaled. "Besides, there are still a few loose ends to tie up before I move on. I don't like leaving things unfinished."
Death studied me for a moment, then smiled. "Very well, my love. You always were meticulous about handling your affairs. Just don't take too long."
I smirked. "Why? Getting lonely without me?"
She let out a soft laugh. "Always."
I stepped closer, placing a hand under her chin, tilting her face up slightly. "Don't worry," I murmured. "I'll be back. You are my wife, after all."
She sighed dramatically. "Such sweet words. You almost make me wish you would die again soon, just so I can keep you here a little longer."
I chuckled. "Not happening. I've got things to do."
"Oh, one more thing, dear, Daki and Muzanette are going to one of your very best supports, outside Nazarick, so try to make them stronger." Death, said with a smile.
"Oh, this is the first time I hear that."

Daki
Daki stirred awake, her body still tangled in the warmth of the man beside her. The faint glow of lantern light flickered against the walls, casting soft shadows over their naked forms. She blinked, her body sore yet oddly content, a strange warmth lingering in her chest.
Turning her head, she gazed at Alex, his face serene in sleep. His breathing was steady, his expression calm, and for the first time, she realized just how strikingly handsome he was. Not just handsome—he was perfect.
Daki swallowed.
She had expected him to be awake, to look at her with those piercing eyes and say something infuriatingly cocky. But he wasn't. He was completely still.
"Alex," she whispered, nudging him slightly.
No response.
"Oi, wake up," she tried again, her voice a little firmer.
Still nothing.
She frowned. "Tch, I didn't know he was a heavy sleeper..."
Her fingers curled slightly against the sheets as a new thought crept into her mind. He was completely defenseless right now. Vulnerable. No matter how powerful he was, in this moment, he was just another man sleeping beside her.
She could kill him.
Her body tensed at the realization. If she struck now, before he woke, she might stand a chance.
Daki summoned her obi, the pink fabric twisting in the air like a serpent. A portion of it sharpened into a lethal blade, its edge gleaming in the dim light.
This was her moment.
With one swift motion, she could end him.
Her hand trembled.
She clenched her teeth, tightening her grip, but… she couldn't do it.
Why?
Why was her body refusing to move?
She had already accepted her fate. She knew the moment their bodies intertwined that there was no future for her. Alex had made no promises of sparing her life. He had given her something she never thought she could experience—something raw, something real—and in return, he would take her life.
That was the deal.
Then why?
Why did she hesitate?
Her obi wavered, the sharp edge dulling as her resolve crumbled.
"I never knew I could feel this way," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Daki let the weaponized obi drop, dissolving back into silk. She exhaled, her body relaxing as she reached for Alex instead. Slowly, she curled against him, pressing her face against his bare chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart.
She smiled, just a little.
"Before he takes my life… let me enjoy this feeling a little longer," she whispered, wrapping her arms around him.
And for the first time in centuries, Daki allowed herself to simply exist, without fear, without duty—just a girl clinging to something she had never known.
