Back when Old Master Lian had a stroke and was bedridden for a while, he asked Lian Shouli to make him a cane. It was a whole branch as thick as a newborn's arm, stripped of its bark, smoothed and polished, and then coated with a layer of varnish. It looked very simple, but it was extremely sturdy.
This cane, after Old Master Lian fully recovered, was placed in the corner of the outer room. When Lian Shouyi and his family members came in, they didn't notice that the cane had been brought back inside; it was placed in the corner near the kang, well within Old Master Lian's reach.
Old Master Lian first swung the cane in the air a few times, and seeing that although Lian Shouyi and his companions' expressions had changed, they still showed no intention of leaving, Old Master Lian hardened his heart and struck Lian Shouyi's back with the cane.
