Everyone knew that Lady Zhou managed the household very strictly. This included the items brought by their branch of the family and the reciprocal gifts exchanged with others—anything brought by others would also end up in Lady Zhou's hands. How she chose to distribute them was entirely up to her, whether they were food or other items.
However, in front of the gift-givers, Lady Zhou always maintained a very reserved demeanor; she wouldn't even touch the gifts. Especially when it was their branch delivering something, Lady Zhou often seemed dismissive. Although Lian Manman knew that once they left, Lady Zhou would eagerly sample the foodstuffs they had brought.
