Two afternoons later, Gong Ting drove over to pick up Wei Anning to try on engagement dresses at an exclusive private club. Their measurements had already been sent to the club when they discussed the engagement.
Gong Ting walked into the castle, and the Duke got up to greet him. He then instructed Aunt Wu to go upstairs and call Wei Anning down, while the two men chatted warmly. Daisy, hearing that Gong Ting had arrived, lifted her skirt and came down from upstairs.
Looking at the ethereal figure of her beloved standing in the living room, she felt too inferior to approach and timidly stood at the staircase, no longer approaching as she used to.
Wei Anning came downstairs and saw Daisy standing there, wistfully gazing at the man she could only yearn for. In fact, Anning felt sorry for her; if Daisy hadn't brought this upon herself, would she have ended up in such a state?
She descended from the other side of the stairs, slowly walking into the living room.
