Killing Tigranov could be considered a bumper harvest for Haru. Furthermore, he had gained a huge amount of Reputation Points, raising his reputation to the famous rank throughout the Endless Continent. It was not just about the Dark Forest, Endless Prairies, or just a few regions. It was throughout the whole Endless Continent!
(T/N - In case anyone forgot, the reputation ranks are as follows:
Emerging
Little Known
Well Known
Famous
World Famous)
Now, every local force in the Endless Continent became aware about the existence of the Aetherium Kingdom, an extremely powerful Castle Lord faction, near the wilderness beside the Light Empire that had the terrifying strength to kill the High God Tigranov.
Some of the weaker races like the Goblin, Gnomes, Two-Headed Demons, etc. who have originally the Aetherium Kingdom, after learning about Tigranov's death, they immediately removed their blacklists and crazily increased their friendship value towards the Aetherium Kingdom because they were worried about retaliation.
As for the powerful factions on the Endless Continent, such as the Royal Beast Court, the Elf Empire, the Light Empire and the Dragon Empire, they continued to pay close attention to the Aetherium Kingdom as well.
Before the 'restriction' was lifted, they could not send their empire's army to destroy any Castle Lord faction. The only thing they could do was observe them. There were even some local empires that secretly tried to hire some Gods of Faith to destroy the Aetherium Kingdom before it grew even further and posed a threat to them.
However, no God of Faith had dared to accept this mission yet. After all, a High God's death was a pretty serious deterrent. Before figuring out how powerful the Aetherium Kingdom was, who would dare to charge into it?
…
In Angel City, Haru was still checking his gains. He wasn't the only one who had advanced in strength after Tigranov's death. Lysandra, Mary, Sylvana, etc. have all advanced to the Intermediate God Tier while Seraphina, Eveline, Aureole, Auriel and the other Angels have all reached the peak of the Lower True God Tier. They were only a hair's breadth away from reaching the Intermediate God Tier.
Meanwhile, on a mountain in the northern plateau of the Endless Prairies, in the Black Temple, Kaelix and Zarek, the two powerful High Gods sat on their thrones with gloomy expressions.
The Gods of Faith that have just returned to the Endless Continent didn't belong to the local forces so they didn't receive any special reminder from the GM but they just received news that their companion, Tigranov, had died in the Aetherium Kingdom from their sources.
"Dammit!" Kaelix, said in a gloomy voice, "We underestimated the Aetherium Kingdom. We never thought that they would be able to kill Tigranov in such a short time."
Zarek nodded. Thinking about a High God's death, he, who was also a High God, felt a little scared. He was not certain of his ability to escape unscathed if it was him because if the answer was no, then both him and Kaelix would be in big trouble.
After all, the two of them had bewitched the local dynasties of the Endless Prairies to ally and go to war with the Aetherium Kingdom. They could be said to be the masterminds behind the 'dynasty alliance' and what the Aetherium Kingdom's king knew about it?
"Zarek, are you afraid?" Kaelix's voice was clearly filled with ridicule as he looked over at Zarek.
Zarek was extremely displeased and said coldly, "As a late-stage High God, why would I be afraid of a mere Castle Lord? I'm just thinking about who could this hidden God or Goddess be that was actually able to trap and kill an early-stage High God!"
"What else could it be?" Kaelix sneered, "If I'm not wrong, it must be related to that white city floating in the clouds! Those brats said that it was the Angel Race's War Fortress called Astral City and it has the power to slay Gods. That king probably used it to catch Tigranov off guard and kill him."
"Since when could a cannon kill High Gods?" Zarek frowned, "My instincts tell me that Tigranov's death was not that simple."
Kaelix said, "When we were in the outer worlds, haven't we seen such a cannon in a Rank 1 Empire? That terrifying 'black hole cannon' can undoubtedly kill a High God."
Rank 1 Empires from a technologically advanced civilization that ruled over many habitable planets had a massive interstellar fleet and terrifying technological weapons. Kaelix and Zarek had come into contact with this technology civilization when they were adventuring in the outside world. Their weapon could not only destroy planets, stars and other celestial bodies in the universe, but they could also slay Gods.
Zarek glanced at him and said, "That Rank 1 Empire is undoubtedly very strong but that's in a distant alien galaxy. This is the Endless Continent, a magic civilization! That Astral City is not a war fortress of a technological civilization! From what we know, it's covered with Divine Runes and it also has a magic shield. It is obviously a product of our magical civilization, how could it be equipped with that black hole series cannon?"
"I have also observed that city in the sky from a long distance." Zarek added, "On top of it, there were a large number of magic cannons. The most powerful Divine magic cannons were indeed capable of killing true Gods! However, it's limited to at most killing Intermediate Gods. How could it have killed Tigranov?"
"No, no, no." Kaelix shook his head and said, "I suspect that this Astral City has a hidden trump card similar to the main cannon of the interstellar spaceship from that Rank 1 Empire."
Hearing this analysis, Zarek also felt that it was very possible. After all, how could a war fortress not have a trump card? So in their minds, Haru has used Astral City to kill Tigranov and they healed a sigh of relief.
In their eyes, [Astral City] was just an immobile flying fortress and they had plenty of ways to deal with it. As long as they were careful, their lives would definitely not be threatened. Unfortunately, they only guessed half right.
Astral City did indeed have a powerful attack that could heavily injure or even kill a High God and even a peak High Goddess like 'Medusa' Christine felt threatened from it. However Tigranov didn't die because of Astral City. From start to finish, Haru had never used Astral City at all.
…
At this moment, numerous figures appeared in the temple and the dozens of thrones in the hall were filled to the brim. The only empty throne belonged to Tigranov. All of them were the Beast Gods who were present in the previous meeting, the ones who were dissatisfied with Christine. Now that Tigranov was dead, they came running to find the God of Destruction and the God of Slaughter.
"Lord Zarek!" A bearded Beast God asked, "Now that Lord Tigranov has fallen, what should we do?"
"Yes sir! Even Lord Tigranov has fallen. Once we join in, wouldn't we all die?"
"I already want to retreat!"
"Who would have thought that the hidden power of a mere castle lord faction would be so terrifying? Even Lord Tigranov's soul couldn't survive."
"I suspect that the Aetherium Kingdom is fishing for us Gods to kill us and take our Godheads!"
The Beast Gods were panicking. One of them even said, "Those Castle Lords, unlike the native intelligent races, don't have the slightest fear when facing us Gods of Faith! I've secretly searched the soul of one of the Castle Lords and checked his memories. Other than some of the otherworldly memories that were sealed by the World's Will, other soul memories showed… some strange things."
Another Beast God asked, "What did you see?"
"Those Castle Lords treat us like a boss!"
"Boss? What do you mean?"
"It's a term from something called video games where the 'boss' is the most powerful wild monster. After killing them, the 'players' could gain a lot of experience points, equipment, blueprints and other items!"
The Beast Gods were all left stunned. Those weaklings actually dared to see them, High Gods, in a similar light as wild monsters? This was simply blasphemy! However, that was not the main point. As the ten or so Beast Gods all looked at Kaelix and Zarek, they both did not hesitate to reveal the 'truth' that they had just analyzed together.
Finally, Kaelix said, "Don't worry! It's just a flying fortress. We have plenty of ways to contain it! Once the Divine Battle begins, Zarek and I will join you. We can definitely destroy the Aetherium Kingdom!"
After listening to the analysis, the Beast Gods in the hall felt that it made sense and they all nod in agreement. At the same time, their hearts relaxed, and their worries disappeared.
