Cherreads

Chapter 152 - Chapter 152

(One day later)

Yes! Yes! Yes! Another one down! I feel great! I closed the train deal with Luminous, and I negotiated full ownership of the railroad! It was the same strategy. I made them drink a bunch of alcohol, and then Luminous got too excited and impatient and wanted to leave quickly with Hinata.

Now, I may have full ownership, but I had to concede a lot of the profit split, and that's alright. Owning the railroads is a lot more important. Time to continue my J.P. Morgan route, and I'm doing better than him, since he himself didn't own a single mile of railroad, because it was all through his firm. In my case, the empire is the one that owns the railroads, but who controls the empire? That's right, me. Well, in the future, it would be anyone else who is the emperor or empress if I ever retire and pass down the title to one of my children.

Anyway, next up is the Eastern Empire, the Sorcerous Dynasty, Milim's domain, Frey, and Carrion. The Sorcerous Dynasty is most likely the one to give the most problems, but I'll get to it when I do.

Anyway, now it was time to relax and let that civil war reach its conclusion. I have to start putting together some kind of council or group to handle the supplies that will be sent. I can have Souei make contact with the leader of North Ingrassia to convey our message. Luminous would also do the same. Yeah, this should end quickly. Support from the two main powers in the region? Yeah, the South won't stand a chance. Even if the Western States were to try to support the South, we can just apply immense diplomatic pressure on them through our place on the Western Council, oh, and also financial pressure.

Life is great. Now, if only a few months could pass, so I could see the birth of my kids, but I have to be patient; it's a virtue or whatever. At least Shuna is getting the best care right now. Rain and Misery are doing their job, and Carrera was disappointed that she couldn't shoot them, but it was more in a mocking way, probably. I had to tell her that our "stand your ground" laws don't work like that. Neither do our dueling laws.

Anyway, there was relative peace, perfect for bringing in kids. I can't wait to meet those little bundles of joy.

"Lady Pendragon, Lady Pendragon!" I was interrupted when a hobgoblin screamed for me. It was one of the agricultural workers.

"What is it?"

"It's about your horse and the pegasus! She gave birth! And to twins!"

I grabbed the hobgoblin's shoulders and shook him. "What!? Is the pegasus okay? Are the foals okay? What are the health complications? Tell me everything!"

This was insane. A horse giving birth to twins was very rare, and when it does happen, one of the twins usually has to die to ensure one lives, and even if they are born, there's a risk of them dying along with the mother. And even if they do survive, they could be weak and need special care into adulthood. I remember when it happened on the ranch I lived on in my last life. And unfortunately, one of the foals died, and the mother needed medical care for a while.

"Lady Pendragon, everything's fine! The pegasus is completly fine and healthy, the foals are also perfectly fine. There are no health complications!"

"Really? Take me. I need to see this."

(At the stables.)

Woah. There they were. They were on the field outside the stables. Dun Stallion was nearby, and the pegasus was as well. They were both white, which is also rare. And they weren't "white" horses that were actually gray, but turned white as they grew up. No, these were fully white horses. They had a white mane and tail. Wow, they were beautiful. And they were standing and walking already. They looked a bit like a Camarillo White Horse. They took more after Dun Stallion than the pegasus, mostly because they didn't have any wings. Well, I don't know if a pegasus has wings at birth or if they grow them. I'll find out later, though.

I approached Dun Stallion and petted his neck. "Dun Stallion, you did a good job."

He put his head down and shook it. 'Thank you, master. What will you name them?'

Right, yeah. The names. Let me see real quick…okay, those are colts. Well, considering this is a very lucky moment…

I approached one of the colts and kneeled to gently pet it. They really were twins. There was hardly any difference to them.

"Your name will be…Oh! Tengo Suerte."

I went to the other colt and kneeled at its level as well as I pet it.

"Your name will be…Neon Moon."

I'd say there were good names. Let's see if they live up to their father. Well, considering that I'm going to introduce equestrian events, mostly horse racing…hmm, just a thought. Those names do have that "racehorse" feel to them. We'll see. I won't consider it until they're more grown and sure they don't have any health problems.

I got up and stepped back just to take in the moment. This was amazing. I'll have to let Gazel know he can have his pegasus back. I'll send the message through Vesta. Damn it, this only makes me more impatient to see Shuna give birth and see my kids.

I stayed there for a little while longer before I finally went back to my house.

(At the house)

I opened the door and entered. I wasn't expecting a greeting from Shuna, or anything, because, well, seven kids and all that. Oh man, I should've controlled myself during that time. Magic can be too good at times. I should've made another kind of magic to control fertility as well. Oh well, what happened happened, and seven new lives into this world is something to celebrate.

"Lady Pendragon." Rain came up to me and greeted me. I'm going to be honest, though they've been working for a month now, I still won't lose my suspicion of them.

"Rain." I looked at her and then around the house. It was clean and organized. And Misery was in the kitchen making food. "You're doing well. How is Shuna?"

"She is progressing nicely. We've made sure to make her as comfortable as possible and reduce any amount of stress for her."

"Is she in the room?"

"Yes, she's currently sleeping."

"Good."

I noticed Rain, and she was fidgeting slightly. "What is it, Rain? And just say it, don't beat around the bush."

"Misery and I were wondering if you could rename us.

"Really? Why?"

"You defeated Guy, and we served him; now, we serve you."

"Is this some kind of right of conquest type of thing?"

Rain nodded at my question.

"Alright, if y'all really want it. I'll just name y'all the same thing. You're Rain…" I approached Misery, who was in the kitchen. "...and you're Misery."

"Thank you." They both said it at the same time and did a small bow. It's a bit weird to get used to that, but it's whatever. I did feel more loyalty from them, though, so I don't need to worry as much anymore.

Things are coming along nicely.
