The rain stopped.
For several moments, nobody noticed.
The battle had gone on for so long beneath the relentless downpour that the sudden absence of rain barely registered amidst the chaos. The three dark mages had dragged the fight in the forest that was close to the town.
Water still dripped from leaves and broken tree branches while muddy forest floor remained marshy from hours of storm and bloodshed.
Neither Eric nor Miri paid attention.
They were far too occupied trying to survive.
A burst of fire erupted as Eric's sword collided against the dark mage's scythe once more. Flames exploded outward upon impact only to be swallowed by the dead mana pouring from the black weapon. The collision forced Eric backward yet again and before he could properly regain his footing, the scythe was already sweeping toward him from another angle.
Farther away, Miri narrowly avoided another arrow aimed at her blind spot.
