The note said:
"Your mom gave me five hundred thousand. I'll use it to stay at a hotel for now, and I'll return it to her or you once I have money."
Hotel!
Ji Nian went to the hotel.
Zhan Lan immediately called Ji Nian.
Ji Nian was currently checking into the hotel.
Seeing the call from Zhan Lan, she thought for a moment.
He probably went home by now and saw the note she left!
After answering, Ji Nian said in a somewhat deflated tone, "I'm at the hotel checking in right now. I'll refund you the unused money later."
"Which hotel are you at?"
"The one closest to your house, the three-star one." Ji Nian didn't really notice the hotel's name.
Zhan Lan immediately understood her location.
"Wait for me in the hotel lobby. Don't check in just yet."
"But I've already checked in."
"Ask the front desk for a refund." Zhan Lan's tone was firm, leaving no room for argument.
Ji Nian was frightened, so she quickly spoke to the front desk, "Miss, can I get a refund?"
