Third person POV
Gen went to Shu's room, where Shu was frozen on what he was watching on YouTube. The YouTube video he was watching was an action Korean movie, where the female protagonist seek vengeance against her enemies for killing her brother. "No…no…" Shu whispered in Spanish, "…don't do that to them…"
Unfortunately for him, the female hitman finished her enemies in a rural restaurant in South Korea and then headed to a beach on a fast motorcycle, where she stepped on the water's edge and then took her own life by shooting herself on the head with his Glock pistol.
Bang!
The movie cuts and then rolled to the credits.
"NO!" Shu cried out in massive shock and horror as his PTSD of what he had once done to Gen in the past came crashing down like a tsunami. "Then everything she had done through the film will be all for nothing! Fuck this movie!"
Shivering, Shu leaned forward to give the movie a massive, criticizing comment:
Spain11: "This movie sucks! Waste of character development just for some stupid shock value! -1o out of 1o!"
Seconds after sending it, a commenter replied, "Yeah, this movie is garbage. If you say that to the filmmakers, they would say things like, "Stop dampening the audience with happy endings. No shock value means no value. Stick to your old classics and never touch our films again, stupid emotional Luddites who don't care about trends and innovations that might change the world. No innovation means we're stagnating."
Reading the whole thing, Shu's emotions snapped and then let a short hysterical laugh. "Yeah, that guy's right. The female protagonist was essentially me when I marched into this place and accepted Gen's request to end him with his blade."
His emotions then switched back to crying. "I hated this film…I hated it…"
He buried his face with his hands and slouched his back on his wooden oak chair. "I still hated myself…"
Shu then popped open his bottle of antidepressants and swallowed 2 pills for the night.
"Shu…" Gen said to him, catching Shu's attention very fast.
Shu then got startled and turned around at him while putting his hand down, revealing a tear-filled face. "Oh…w-what is it, Gen-san?"
Focusing on the paused YouTube video on Shu's laptop, Gen replied, "Did you have a nightmare on that film?"
"Y-Yeah, yes, sí…"
"Did you overdose on your medication again?"
"Y-Yes…s-sorry…"
"It's fine, that's enough for today."
Gen then walked over to take Shu's medication, which Shu agreed without resistance.
"How are you?" Gen asked while putting the medicine bottle on Shu's desk.
"Not feeling well, a bit," Shu replied as his positive persona cracked, revealing someone who was desperate for something, "just watching that stupid K-drama movie I now despised. The female protagonist was like me, but…"
"I see then," replied Gen gently, "you managed to avoid to be in the same tragic ending as her, right?"
"Yes, I did…"
"I see then. I know the treatments prescribed for you had failed you, sort off…" Gen replied while glancing away for a bit, "…but I think I can help with that."
Shu was surprised at his response. "Really?"
Gen then nodded. "Yes, this would be painful for you but, in my theory, it could alleviate your emotional turmoil at least for a bit."
Shu thinks for a while and out of desperation and to internally make fun of the protagonist of the detested movie, he says, "Yes, sure, I think I want physical pain to myself so I could punish myself for what I did to you…"
To that Gen remained his expression as concerned and thought, "Yeah, I knew he'll say that…well, time to put your theory into action."
"Whatever physical pain you'll inflict on me, I'll endure it," Shu replied while exiting the watching and playing window of his YouTube.
He then deleted that video from his watch history as if to scrub the memory of it from his mind.
"Alight then," replied Gen, "come with me."
And so, both of them went to an underground laboratory (east of the one where the caged zombies were kept) with a hospital bed in one corner. Hayate was present with half of his red and grey camouflage attire of the organization. "Greetings, kid," he greeted nicely.
"So here?" Shu said to Gen.
"Yes, you can lay down there," responded Gen while putting on his black, leather gloves, "and I can strap you there if you ask for that."
Shu liked the sound of the gloves, and he said, "Oh, um…well…why could I ask to be strapped there?"
Gen prepared his syringe containing his modified zombie virus and looked at him. "Because I'll inject you with this, my zombie virus."
Hayate then gave a pat on Shu's shoulder. "We're here so we could silence the ghosts in your mind."
Upon seeing the syringe, Shu was taken aback, but deserving pain to punish himself, he agreed without fearing it and liking the sight of it. "Sure, let's do the first session now?"
"Yes," Gen replied while putting the syringe on his lab coat pocket and opening a cabinet full of weapons, "but you can first ask to be tortured with any of these."
Seeing that arsenal, Shu was surprised but like with the syringe full of zombie virus, he agreed to it out of emotional desperation. "Sure…can I pick two?"
"Yup, you can sit on this corner there."
Gen pointed at the wall with the tiled floor on the bottom of it. "You can sit against the wall."
Shu did so while anticipating his first torture treatment.
With that, Gen closed the door and locked it.
"Two weapons would be a pistol and a dagger, please," Shu made his first request. "Also, the bullets should be filled with the zombie virus the bullets had before you guys became good. Make the shots 5. Also, Hayate-san, wear the vials on your vest and put on your respirator gas mask, and oh, shoot me with 3 regular bullets with your sniper rifle, too."
Gen did so, loading his pistol and preparing his dagger.
Hayate did his part.
Shu likes the sound of the gun being loaded and the sight of a hunting dagger and the vials on Hayate's vest.
"But first…" Gen said, before pulling another syringe and injecting it on Shu's left arm.
Shu was surprised that it went first before the two weapons. "W-What was that?"
"That would be your On the Brink of Death." Hayate responded. "You're really a genius, kid."
"Wait, my serum? Did you know its formula?" Shu whispered.
"Yes, but I'll keep it between us." Gen replied. "That was quite smart of you."
"Oh, okay…thanks…"
With these out of the way, Hayate aimed his sniper rifle and fired 3 shots at Shu's chest.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
"Got you," he muttered through his red and dark grey camouflage balaclava mask with an off-the-cuff, scripted line as he cycled the bolt between shots.
Shu was pushed against the wall by the bullets that went through his body and embedded themselves on the wall.
Gen pointed his pistol at Shu's chest and shot him 5 times.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Shu felt pain while enduring it, even though blood was now oozing from his wounds and mouth. The zombie virus broke from the lead and into his bloodstream. The serum is killing the virus while the virus simulated pain and no turning for Shu. And then, Gen stabbed him with his dagger in his heart, thinking this will maximize the amount of pain he would inflict on him. Shu endured the intense pain as much as he could like internally and emotionally savoring this moment that would give him the peace he was desperate to have and the fantasy of being inflicted to become true in reality.
