"Did I hear you right? They're going to present Tobin with a letter? What the hell?" she stared at him, her mouth hanging open in dismay.
"Yes. A written protest signed by all the men, advising the king to reconsider his taxation policy." Lucas explained.
"They shouldn't bother wasting their time. That protest won't be worth the parchment it's written on! What they need to do is collectively refuse to open their coffers until Tobin agrees to sit down and properly negotiate with them."
"Celia, they'll never do anything that bold as a first step."
