For an instant it seems that Veronica will move forward waving the bat, or so Mariana expects. But the gray-eyed girl surprises by bringing a hand behind her back and extending to the front the nail gun. She fires three shots.
The nails go flying through the air. Mariana raises an arm and clenches her teeth as feels the metal biting and getting buried in her skin. Veronica continues firing. The Hispanic, having overcome the initial surprise, deduces the nail trajectory and makes a graceful turn to the right, none of the projectiles hits her.
The nail gun is empty. Veronica throws the object to the floor and grabs the bat with both hands. She runs, stands a step away from Mariana and swings the blunt weapon with all her might. Mariana takes a step back, bends down, moves her body slightly to the left, each action performed with a confidence sustained by the fact that the bat does not even graze her butler's suit.
