And that's why both Charmeleon and Scyther had to rest in their Poké Balls.
I knew that my coordination with Scyther was still low. But it would just take more time, more battles, and some nights of special training.
But one thing was certain. We would improve, and soon we'd be moving as one too.
Thinking that, I stepped through the automatic doors of the Pewter City Pokémon Center, Eevee trotting at my side.
Nurse Joy stood behind the counter, her bright pink hair and crisp white uniform instantly familiar, just like the one I had seen back in Viridian City when I registered for the league. Warm. Calm. Welcoming. She even looked exactly the same, just like in the anime.
"Good afternoon! How can I help you?" she asked.
"Chansey," came a soft voice beside her.
A Chansey stepped forward immediately, ready to assist.
"Can you check these three Pokémon, please?" I said as I stepped closer, handing over Scyther's Poké Ball first, then Charmeleon's. Then I recalled Eevee as well and placed her Luxury Ball on the counter.
After everything we'd been through, I wasn't taking any chances. If there was even a minor injury, Nurse Joy would handle it quickly with her experience and advanced medical technology.
And it was all free too, just like in the anime.
"Of course. We'll have them back to full health shortly," she replied with a gentle nod.
Chansey carefully took the tray with the Poké Balls and carried it toward the back.
I sank into one of the lobby chairs and let out a long breath I felt like I had been holding since Viridian Forest. My entire team was exhausted, but we had made it.
Now it was time to rest, recover, and prepare for what came next: the Pewter City Gym.
Just as I was waiting, I noticed a kid rushing inside the Pokémon Center. He was wearing a red cap and clutching a Pikachu in his arms. The Pokémon looked badly hurt and barely conscious.
"Pikachu... please..." the boy said as he ran to the counter.
I stood up immediately, concern rising in my chest.
Nurse Joy looked up the moment they arrived. Her calm expression sharpened with focus.
"Chansey!" she called.
A Chansey appeared at once.
The boy reached the counter, breathing hard. "Please... will Pikachu be okay?"
Nurse Joy gave a quick nod. "We'll take care of it."
Chansey carefully took Pikachu and hurried toward the back room.
The boy still stood there, staring after them. "It... it will be okay, right?"
I walked closer to him and asked quietly, "What happened?"
The boy looked at me, still breathing hard.
"I... I lost," he said, voice shaking. "In a battle. His Steelix was too strong.."
He tightened his fists.
"My Pikachu got hurt because I didn't step back in time... I should've surrendered fast and protected it better."
I frowned slightly. "Who was it?" I asked.
"It was Brock.." the boy muttered, staring down at the floor as if the tiles themselves had defeated his Pikachu. "The Pewter City Gym Leader."
I let out a slow breath while thinking...Gym Leaders in this world really don't mess around.
Back in the anime, Brock had always felt like a fairly straightforward first obstacle. Strong, sure, but still someone most protagonists eventually overcame without too much trouble.
Reality was different.
Much different.
If Brock was already using a Pokémon like Steelix against trainers going for their very first badge, that alone said a lot.
Gym Leaders here weren't simply handing out badges to anyone who showed up.
They were experienced trainers whose job was to determine whether challengers were actually ready to continue their journeys.
And from the sound of it, Brock took that responsibility very seriously.
Looks like earning that first badge won't be nearly as easy as I thought.
The boy remained quiet for a moment before speaking again. As we talked, I learned his name was Kaito.
Over the next half hour, he told me about how his challenge against Brock had gone.
Most of it came back to the same problem. Brock's Steelix had completely overwhelmed his Pikachu and Pidgey. It had shrugged off their attacks, controlled the pace of the battle, and capitalized on every mistake.
But I learned more than that.
For starters, Pewter Gym used a 2-on-2 format for trainers with zero badges.
Brock clearly didn't hold back just because someone was new, and from everything Kaito described, the Gym Leader seemed more interested in testing challengers than simply handing out badges.
I offered a few thoughts of my own and shared some advice. Before long, the conversation drifted away from the loss itself and toward training, traveling, difficult battles, and the lessons that came from mistakes along the way.
By the time we finished, Kaito looked a lot less defeated than when we'd first met.
Then a familiar cheerful voice echoed through the Pokémon Center lobby.
"Gil! Your Pokémon are completely healed and ready to go!"
I stood immediately.
"Looks like this is where we part ways."
After wishing Kaito good luck, I headed to the counter, collected my Poké Balls, and made my way toward one of the training fields behind the Pokémon Center.
Three flashes of light appeared one after another.
Eevee landed first and immediately trotted over to my side, her fluffy tail swaying with a playful bounce.
While, her big, bright eyes sparkled as she looked up at me.
"Vee-" The soft sound was warm and sweet, like she was happy to be close again...
Next came Charmeleon. She stepped out with a lazy stretch, raising her arms high above her head.
Her smooth orange body arched nicely, showing off the strong curves and toned build she had gained after evolving. A low, satisfied "Charrr-" rolled from her throat.
She looked more than ready for battle.
Finally, Scyther appeared beside her, blades gleaming beneath the lights. All her injuries were gone now, though I could still see a few faint signs of the battle she'd fought earlier.
I crouched down so I was eye-level with all three of them.
"Alright, listen up."
Three pairs of eyes immediately locked onto me.
"Pewter Gym will be a 2-on-2 battle. That means only two of you will be entering the match."
Eevee's ears perked up instantly, and her fluffy tail began swishing excitedly behind her. The little fox looked completely convinced she was about to be chosen.
"I'm taking Charmeleon and Scyther."
"Vee"
The wagging stopped at once.
Her tail slowly drooped, followed by her ears.
I couldn't help smiling as I reached down and gently scratched behind them.
"Don't be sad. You're amazing, and you know it."
Her tail gave a small hopeful wag.
"But Brock uses Rock and Steel-types. Charmeleon's Fire-type attacks and Scyther's speed give us our best chance. Right now, that's the strongest team I can put on the field."
Eevee pouted for a second before eventually leaning into my hand.
"Vee~♡"
I chuckled.
"You'll get your turn soon..."
Then my attention shifted to Scyther.
Her posture immediately grew more focused.
I took a few minutes to go over her last battle against Lara's Meganium, pointing out several moments where she had relied too heavily on instinct instead of working with me. Trainers' battles are different from fighting in the wild. Timing, coordination, and trust between trainer and Pokémon mattered just as much as strength.
To her credit, Scyther listened seriously.
There was no irritation or resistance this time.
Only concentration.
By the end of it, she gave a firm nod, making it clear she understood exactly what I was trying to say.
A grin spread across my face.
That was all I needed.
I stood back up and looked toward the direction of Pewter Gym.
"Let's go win our first badge."
"Vee!"
"Charrr!"
"Scy!"
-x-X-x-
The Pewter City Gym was nothing like the small building from the anime. It was a huge Rock-type Gym.
The Gym space was open but fully enclosed, lit by soft artificial lights and a faint natural glow from the stone walls.
And the battlefield was made of solid ground mixed with scattered rocks and uneven stone formations, designed specifically for Rock-type battles.
It wasn't chaotic or unstable, just naturally rough terrain that favored strong, grounded Pokémon.
While high above the battlefield, spectator areas were carved into the rock where people could safely watch the matches.
Overall, the Gym felt strong, simple, and grounded, built for raw power battles rather than flashy arenas.
And at the far end of the field stood Brock...
He was an adult: tall, with a solid, well-built frame. Broad shoulders, defined arms, and a strong chest from years of training, but not overly bulky.
Just the right amount of muscle that showed he was no pushover. His eyes were closed in that calm, signature expression, a small confident smile on his face.
Around his neck hung a simple chain holding a glowing Key Stone, probably for his Steelix's Mega Evolution, though I wasn't completely sure.
And as for me, I stood on the challenger's side with Eevee right beside me. She looked up at the battlefield with big, excited eyes, her tail swishing back and forth.
A referee stepped forward and took position between us, standing at the side with his flag raised.
"Challenger Gil Crest is challenging Gym Leader Brock for the Boulder Badge," he announced clearly. "Since Gil has zero badges, this will be a 2-on-2 battle. The challenger can switch Pokémon freely. The Gym Leader cannot switch Pokémon. Mega Evolution and other special powers are not permitted for the Gym Leader, but the challenger may use them. Understood?"
I nodded. "Understood."
Brock's calm smile didn't change. "Ready when you are, Gil."
I took a breath, feeling the weight of the moment. Eevee gave a soft "Vee-" of encouragement beside me, her warm little body pressing briefly against my ankle.
I looked at Brock and gave a small nod.
The instant my head dipped, Brock's voice rang out, steady and full of confidence.
"Golem, let's go!"
He threw the Poké Ball in one smooth, practiced arc. It spun through the air before bursting open in a brilliant flash of white light.
The ground trembled as Golem materialized with a deep, rumbling "Goooolem!"
Its massive boulder-like body landed heavily, shaking the dirt beneath our feet.
Thick, rugged rocky armor covered its powerful frame, and its thick arms and legs stood planted like ancient pillars. The Pokémon looked like a living mountain: slow, unstoppable, and impossibly solid.
I took a steadying breath, heart pounding with a quiet thrill as I stared at the towering Golem. Without hesitation, I pulled out my own Poké Ball and threw it forward.
"Scyther, I choose you!"
'The ball spun through the air and burst open in a brilliant flash of light.
Scyther emerged in a graceful, ready stance, her sleek green exoskeleton gleaming under the light.
Her body was lean and built for speed, every movement looking light but sharp.
Her scythe-like arms caught the glow with a dangerous edge, while her wings stayed neatly folded behind her back, ready to burst open at any moment.
She looked fast, fierce, and beautiful in a dangerous way, like a living blade made for battle. Every small movement in her stance showed control, speed, and confidence.
"Scyther!" she cried, her voice sharp and eager, already buzzing with anticipation.
From the sideline, Eevee cheered excitedly, "Vee! Vee!"
Brock didn't waste a second.
"Golem, Defense Curl!" he commanded, his voice calm but firm.
Golem pulled its thick limbs in close. A faint light spread across its rocky body, then slowly faded as its defense tightened, like stone compressing into an even harder shell.
The massive Pokémon seemed even more unbreakable now, like a fortress braced for impact.
I clenched my fists, refusing to fall behind. "Scyther, Quick Attack!"
Scyther shot forward in a vibrant green blur, slicing through the air like a living blade, sharp and unstoppable. Her speed left a faint rush of wind in her path, a high-pitched "Scy!" trailing behind her.
"Rock Slide!" Brock countered.
Golem slammed its heavy fists into the ground with a thunderous "Goooolem!" The arena trembled as sharp stones burst from the ceiling and walls, raining down like a rocky avalanche toward Scyther.
"Double Team!" I shouted quickly.
Scyther split into several shimmering copies with a chorus of overlapping "Scy! Scy! Scy...", darting between the falling boulders with incredible speed. She weaved through the chaos, each copy taking a hit and vanishing in a puff of dust, while the real one closed in on Golem. Rocks smashed into her illusions, exploding into clouds of dust and debris.
Eevee's voice cut through the din. "Ee-vwee!" a cheer, urging her on.
As Scyther closed the distance, I saw my opening.
"Now!" I shouted. "Brick Break!"
Scyther's eyes sharpened instantly.
Her right scythe began to glow with a pale white light as energy gathered along the blade, like it was being sharpened by raw force.
Then...
She burst out of the swirling dust cloud in a green streak, letting out a sharp "Scyyy!"
CLANG.
The moment her scythe hit, a sharp shockwave rippled outward. The rocky surface of Golem's body dented at the point of impact, dust and tiny stone fragments flying off like sparks.
Golem's massive frame jolted with a deep rumble, but it still didn't move even an inch.
Its eyes narrowed.
"Mega Punch!" Brock called, his voice calm and steady.
The moment the command left his lips, Golem surged forward.
It was no longer slow or heavy like before, its entire body shifted with sudden burst-like speed. One massive arm pulled back, the fist tightening as a pale white energy formed around it, wrapping the rock like a compressed shock of force.
Then it came forward.
Fast.
Straight.
Like a hammer made of moving stone.
I reacted instantly.
"Scyther, dodge it!"
But it was already too late.
Scyther had just started to pull back, wings buzzing hard as she tried to slip away with a desperate "Scy...", but Golem closed the gap in an instant.
The glowing stone fist connected.
CRACK...!
It hit like a solid wall of iron crashing into her side.
"Scy...!"
She cried out sharply as the impact tore through her mid-air movement.
Her body jerked violently, as she was thrown backward, spinning through the air before crashing into one of the jagged rock formations rising from the battlefield.
Stone shattered on impact with a sickening crunch, and she dropped down toward the ground below as dust burst into the air.
For a moment, everything went still.
"Scyther!" I yelled, my voice cracking.
Eevee let out a horrified "Vee?!", her tiny form tense as she watched.
Then Scyther's wings twitched once... then again. A weak, shuddering "Scy...
ther..." emerged from the dust.
Slowly, she forced herself upright, her legs shaking as she struggled to find her balance.
Dust still clung to her sleek green body, and her breathing came in sharp, strained bursts, each one a faint, broken "Scy... Scy.."
My chest tightened painfully as I watched her push through the pain. I reached for her Poké Ball, ready to call her back.
"Scyther, return.."
But before I could, she shook her head fiercely. Her sharp eyes locked onto mine with pure determination, cutting me off with a strained but firm "Scy...ther!"
She wasn't done. Not yet.
I stopped, my heart caught between pride and worry.
"You sure?" I asked softly.
Scyther gave a firm nod. Despite the visible bruises and damage on her body, her scythe arms lifted again, steady and ready.
Across the field, Brock smiled...
"Impressive spirit," he said.
I nodded back at Scyther, trusting her completely. "Alright... Scyther, let's do this. Start with Quick Attack again.."
Before I could finish, Scyther shot forward in a green blur, a sharp "Scy!" cutting through the air.
"Rock Slide!" Brock ordered.
Golem responded instantly. It rumbled and slammed its fists into the ground.
Sharp stones once again rained down from above.
"Scyther, dodge them and keep moving!" I shouted, my voice tight.
Scyther weaved through the falling rocks, each movement marked by a sharp "Scy! Scy!" Her wings buzzed as she slipped between the attacks, her body a green blur across the battlefield. She avoided all the stones and kept closing in.
"Now, Brick Break!" I yelled.
Scyther brought her scythe down hard with a sharp "Scyther!"
CLANG.
The strike slammed into Golem's rocky armor, sending another grinding shock through its body. This time, the giant Pokémon staggered back a step, a deep "Goooh..." of pain escaping it as it struggled to hold its ground.
Brock stayed composed and said, "Golem, finish it: Mega Punch!"
Golem's heavy fist rocketed forward again, glowing with concentrated power.
But this time, Scyther was ready.
"Dodge left, spin behind it!" I commanded.
She reacted instantly.
Her wings snapped mid-air as she twisted sharply to the side, slipping just past the incoming punch. With a quick spin in the air, she repositioned behind Golem in a smooth, controlled arc.
A confident "Scy!" escaped her as she moved.
"Brick Break again!"
No hesitation.
Scyther drove her scythe down into Golem's exposed side.
CRACK!
The impact landed cleanly, and Golem's massive body jolted forward from the hit, a heavy groan escaping it as it struggled to hold its ground.
"Goooolem!" it roared in frustration, its frame trembling from the repeated blows.
Eevee bounced at the sidelines, voice ringing out with pure excitement. "Eevee! Eevee!"
"Don't let up, keep attacking!" I ordered.
Scyther became a green blur again. "Scy! Scy! Scy!" she called out as she repositioned after each pass, striking again and again with Brick Break on the follow-through.
Each hit forced Golem back a little more, its movements growing slower and heavier. Its breathing turned rough, a strained "Gole... gole..." as it tried to keep up.
Brock's eyes remained calm, but his tone shifted slightly.
"Hold your ground, Golem... don't lose balance," he said steadily. "Mega Punch, now!"
"Double Team!"
Scyther split into several copies in an instant. "Scy! Scy! Scyther!" their voices echoed together, circling and confusing the exhausted Golem.
It swung wildly, but its heavy fists cut through empty air.
The real Scyther slipped through the gap.
"Now, finish it! Brick Break!"
The true Scyther struck with everything she had left, her voice a final, fierce
"SCYTHERRR!"
Her scythe slammed into Golem's chest with a thunderous CLANG.
"Gooo...lem..." it groaned, its massive body shuddering.
Then it toppled backward with a heavy, earth-shaking THUD, finally collapsing onto the battlefield.
Silence filled the Gym...
The referee watched for a few seconds, making sure Golem wasn't getting back up. Then his flag shot into the air. "Golem is unable to battle! The winner is Scyther!"
A cheer escaped Eevee immediately. "Veeee!"
While, panting heavily, Scyther stood despite her injuries, wings buzzing faintly in victory. A soft, exhausted "Scy..." escaped her as she looked toward me, eyes shining with pain and pride.
I ran onto the field, Eevee right behind me with a joyful "Vee-vee!"
I caught Scyther as she swayed, carefully supporting her trembling frame. "You were incredible," I whispered. "Absolutely incredible."
She leaned into me, her breathing slowly easing, a quiet "Scy..." vibrating against my chest.
I gently recalled her in a warm red glow. "Rest now. You earned it."
Across the field, Brock finally spoke, his voice calm but approving.
"Good control," he said. "You kept your balance even under pressure."
"Thanks," I replied.
While carefully clipping Scyther's Poké Ball back onto my belt and making my way toward my side of the battlefield. My heart was still racing from the last fight, but a steady spark of excitement kept me moving.
Across the field, Brock picked up Golem's Poké Ball.
"Get some rest, Golem," he said, recalling the fallen Rock-type in a beam of red light.
He clipped the ball back onto his belt and looked across the battlefield at me, his calm smile never wavering.
"Ready for round two, Gil?"
I nodded, already reaching for the next Poké Ball on my belt.
"Ready."
My fingers closed around Charmeleon's ball as I took my position. The weight of it felt familiar and reassuring.
Brock reached for another Poké Ball. A hint of excitement slipped into his usually steady voice.
"Aerodactyl, let's go!"
He threw the ball high into the air. It burst open in a flash of white light.
"Aeroooo!"
A sharp, piercing cry echoed throughout the Gym.
Aerodactyl emerged with its leathery wings spread wide. It quickly climbed into the air and began circling above the battlefield, its powerful wings beating in a steady rhythm. Its shadow swept across the rocky terrain below.
My hand instantly froze around Charmeleon's Poké Ball.
Aerodactyl.
Rock and Flying.
And it was fast.
A lot faster than Charmeleon.
My original plan had been to save Charmeleon for Brock's second Pokémon. If he sent out Steelix, she would have the advantage.
But now Aerodactyl had appeared, and that plan was falling apart right in front of me.
A knot formed in my stomach.
Charmeleon would spend most of the battle trying to reach it while Aerodactyl attacked freely from above. And against a Rock-type, her Fire attacks wouldn't be nearly as effective as usual.
It was a bad matchup.
A really bad one.
My fingers tightened around the Poké Ball as my mind raced through every option I had.
Then my eyes drifted down to Eevee at my feet.
She was staring up at the circling Aerodactyl, ears raised high and tail flicking behind her. She clearly expected me to send out Charmeleon, just like I had planned at first.
But Eevee was different.
She had options.
A lot of them.
During our training over the past few years, she had slowly built a wide set of moves for almost every situation. Iron Tail could go head-on against Rock-types. Thunder Fang and Ice Fang could exploit Aerodactyl's Flying typing. Water Pulse and Energy Ball gave her reliable ranged options.
Though, they weren't as naturally powerful as a Pokémon that fully matched those types, and some required more effort and control to use properly...
But still, Eevee had flexibility.
Which Charmeleon simply didn't have...
And most importantly, she could adapt.
Brock glanced at the Poké Ball still in my hand, then down at Eevee.
For a brief moment, his eyes opened slightly. His smile widened as he studied the small Pokémon at my feet.
"You didn't expect Aerodactyl, did you?"
I looked over at him and nodded.
But, a slow grin tugged at my lips as I said, "Maybe not. But I'm still leaving with the Boulder Badge."
Brock's smile widened a little further.
"Confidence is important," he said calmly. "Let's see if you can back it up..."
I looked down at my partner.
Eevee met my gaze instantly, her bright brown eyes full of trust and excitement.
The moment our eyes met, she understood.
Her tail started wagging even faster, and something warm tightened in my chest. Looking at her eager expression and all that fluffy fur, I almost wanted to scoop her up and...
But that's for Later...
Right now, we had a battle to win.
A smile spread across my face as i said, "Eevee, I choose you!"
Her ears shot straight up.
"VEE!"
Without a moment's hesitation, she sprinted onto the battlefield, tail held high and excitement shining in every bounce of her steps.
The referee raised his flag high.
"The challenger has chosen Eevee! The Gym Leader has chosen Aerodactyl!"
His flag swung downward in one clean motion.
"Second battle... begin!"
-x-X-x-
As the referee's flag dropped, Brock's voice rang out, while the familiar rush of adrenaline tightened in my chest.
"Aerodactyl, Ancient Power."
Aerodactyl threw its head back with a high, piercing cry that echoed off the stone walls.
"Aerooo...!"
A deep purple glow spread across its rocky body like ancient power waking up.
The air around it warped and shimmered with heatless waves.
Jagged stones tore free from the battlefield floor with low, grinding rumbles, rising slowly while wrapped in that glowing purple light.
They spun in the air like forgotten relics pulled back into life.
Aerodactyl beat its wings hard. The rush of air hit my face as it roared again.
"Aeroo!"
The rocks launched forward in a deadly rain.
I didn't hesitate either. "Quick Attack, Eevee and use the rocks to climb toward
Aerodacty...!"
"Vee!"
Hearing my command, she burst forward in a brown blur of speed and grace.
Her little body twisted as she leaped onto the first rock, soft fur brushing the ancient stone for the briefest moment before she bounced to the next.
"Vee! Vee! Vee!"
Each sharp little cry came with every light, powerful hop. Her ears streamed back, tail lashing for balance.
The explosions chased her, but she was already gone, already leaping again with that fluid, captivating rhythm.
As the last stone began to fall, Eevee pushed off it and shot forward straight at Aerodactyl like a determined little missile.
"Aerodactyl, Crunch! Crush it and bring it down now!" Brock called out sharply.
Aerodactyl, the Rock Flying Pokémon, gathered dark energy into its massive jaws. Black and purple power swirled together as it opened wide, fangs glowing with a crushing, dangerous aura.
"Iron Tail, Eevee! Don't let it grab you, strike through it!" I shouted.
"Vee!"
Eevee twisted mid-air, her small body coiling with smooth control. Her tail, glowing with Steel-type energy, lit up in a bright silver shine, sharp like forged metal.
The collision came hard.
CLANGGG...
The sound exploded through the gym like a hammer striking steel. Sparks flew in every direction where her glowing tail met those dark fangs.
Eevee's small frame trembled as she pressed her form against the force.
She pushed back with everything she had, but Aerodactyl was bigger, heavier, and stronger.
And bit by bit she was getting pushed backward.
For a second, it looked like she might lose.
"Use its force and push off it!" I called.
At my voice, Eevee stopped pushing it.
Instead, she twisted with fluid grace and used Aerodactyl's own power as a springboard. She pushed herself upward in one smooth, beautiful motion...
Aerodactyl's mouth snapped shut on empty air.
Now she hovered right above it. Her ears were pinned flat against her head. Her eyes locked onto the target below with fierce focus.
A smile curled onto my lips.
One mistake, and those jaws could've crushed her soft little form, but this was my Eevee, my partner, and years of training had forged something unspoken between us, a rhythm deeper than thought, where instinct and trust moved as one.
My eyes met hers and gave a small, steady nod.
She responded instantly, focus sharpening, that familiar lightning flashing in her gaze.
"Now... THUNDER FANG!"
"Vee!"
Bright yellow lightning crackled to life around Eevee's mouth, forming two glowing electric fangs.
Then her small body cut through the wind in a clean arc, then descended with perfect timing, clamping down onto Aerodactyl's rocky back as she passed over it.
"Aerooo!" Aerodactyl roared in pain as electricity surged across its body. Its wings beat wildly, muscles locking up as paralysis set in. A weak "Dactyl..." escaped it as it struggled to stay airborne.
Eevee landed lightly on the ground with a proud "Vee!" and turned to face her opponent, breathing hard but standing tall.
Brock watched with calm, focused eyes. "Impressive," he said quietly.
The praise only lingered for a second... then the battle snapped right back into motion.
Aerodactyl surged forward again: Steel Wing crashing down in heavy arcs, Crunch flashing with dark energy, Ancient Power hurling rocks across the field, and Dragon Claw slicing through the air in fast, brutal swings...
Eevee also answered with everything she had: Quick Attack, she blurred forward, Double Team, fading copies split her path, Protect, just in time to block the hits, Thunder Fang, sparks with every bite, Water Pulse, spinning bursts to disrupt its rhythm, and Iron Tail, silver flashes striking again and again...
But even with her attacks and dodges, the nonstop pressure was catching up.
Her steps lost a little lightness. Her breathing grew heavier. Dust clung to her fur as her movements slowed just slightly...
Each exchange was taking more out of her.
But still, she pushed on, eyes burning with stubborn determination that only made her even more captivating in my eyes.
Aerodactyl dove once more, wings gleaming with Steel Wing. "Aerooo!"
"Now Eevee..." I shouted. "End it with Iron Tail!"
"Vee!"
She gathered herself on shaking legs, body coiling like a spring, then released in one powerful, beautiful motion. Her tail glowed with light as she met the larger Pokémon head-on in the air.
CLANG...
The impact rang out louder than before, sending a strong shock through the gym.
Eevee's full strength slammed into Aerodactyl's side and drove it down toward the ground.
"Aerooo!" The cry carried shock and pain at the same time.
THUD...
It hit the ground hard. The impact shook the battlefield. A thick cloud of dust burst up and spread across the area, filling the air with the smell of crushed stone.
For a long moment everything went quiet.
Aerodactyl stirred weakly. Its wings scraped against the floor with a gritty sound.
A low, strained "Aerro..." escaped it as it tried to rise...
But its strength failed completely. It slumped back down, motionless...
The referee's flag shot up at once.
"Aerodactyl is unable to battle! The winner is Eevee! Victory goes to the challenger, Gil Crest!"
"Vee."
Eevee stood in the slowly settling dust. Her small legs shook a little, but she kept her head up. Her tail stayed raised, showing quiet pride.
While she breathed in quick, soft pants, her eyes still shined with a happy, satisfied light as she looked back at me...
But then...
A young voice rang out from the viewing area. "No way... daddy lost?!"
Every head in the gym turned toward that young sound...

The Pokémon Center doors slid shut behind me with a soft hiss...
I had just handed Eevee and Scyther over to Nurse Joy, and stepped out into the cool evening air...
Charmeleon stood beside me, stretching her arms high with a low, satisfied groan.
Her orange scales shimmered under the evening light as she arched her body with that familiar grace she showed after evolving...
The motion pulled my eyes down to the soft curve of her hips and the way her smooth scales caught the glow. Heat stirred low in my stomach.
Then she asked softly... "Charmeleon... char... char?" As she spoke, she pointed one claw at herself before gesturing back toward the Gym.
I immediately understood what she was asking. As earlier, I had told her she would get to battle. Yet in the end, I never called her onto the field.
The disappointment in her bright blue eyes made it even more obvious.
I Reached down and gently rubbed the top of her head. Her scales felt warm, almost hot, beneath my palm.
"I know," I said quietly. "I promised you'd get to battle. But things didn't work out the way I planned."
My fingers continued to stroke along her head as I smiled at her.
"Next Gym is yours. Promise."
Her cheeks were still puffed out in protest, but she leaned into my touch anyway, with a soft, needy little "Char-❤♡"
A couple of passersby walked past us and smiled at the sight. They probably thought it was just a loyal Pokémon who loved her trainer.
But they had no idea how deep her love really went... or how hard my cock was already throbbing from her needy little sounds.
Since we still needed to restock some supplies, we started walking through Pewter City's busy streets. Charmeleon stayed glued to my side the whole way.
Every step she took, she would brushed her warm scales against my thigh. Slow and deliberate. Her heat soaked right through my clothes and teased my skin with that constant, delicious warmth.
And when I stopped at the shop for potions and berries, she pressed even closer.
And when the shopkeeper turned away to grab items or busied himself with the register, her long, hot tongue would slipped out.
All while the shopkeeper's Pokémon stared from the counter. The poor Pokémon face flushing a deep red as it watched Charmeleon's lewd little show.
My cock twitched hard in my pants. I kept my face neutral, but my heart pounded as her tongue worked my finger with eager hunger...
And the cause of all this didn't care at all. She kept going, eyes half-lidded in bliss. Licking and sucking noisily while staring up at me with pure needy hunger...
And by the time night arrived, we found ourselves in a small park tucked away from the busier parts of the city.
The place was quiet beneath the soft glow of scattered lampposts. Benches sat between rocky outcrops and old trees, while the cool night breeze carried the gentle rustling of leaves overhead. Beyond that, there was only the distant hum of Pewter City.
No crowds.
No trainers.
Just peace.
I dropped my bag onto a nearby bench before taking a seat. Charmeleon climbed up beside me a moment later, immediately pressing herself against my side.
The cool night air brushed my arms, but her warmth wrapped around me like a thick, living blanket.
Her firey tail curled across the bench, the flame flickering gently and casting soft orange glows across her scales...
Then her hand moved...
Bold clawed fingers slid over my thigh, then higher... until she cupped the growing bulge in my pants and gave it a slow, deliberate squeeze.
The pressure sent a hot jolt straight through me.
I sucked in a sharp breath. My eyes flicked around the park.
It was still empty, but the thrill hit me hard anyway. Someone could walk by any second. Someone could hear her needy sounds.
"Fuck, Charmeleon... you've really gotten so bold," I murmured, my voice low and rough with lust. "My little fire slut can't even wait till we're alone anymore, huh?"
Hearing those words, she immediately looked up at me with hungry blue eyes. A tiny bit of drool glistened at the corner of her mouth.
"Char-" The needy sound spilled out, dripping with pure desire.
I just wanted Trainer's cock... Char-
Obviously, I didn't actually understand her words, but I still didn't stop her...
And seeing that I didn't stop her, she grew bolder...
Her claws fumbled briefly at the button of my pants before catching the zipper.
She pulled it down with a slow, teasing rasp that sounded far too loud in the quiet park.
The cool night air kissed my skin as she freed my cock. It sprang out, thick and heavy, already rock-hard and leaking.
Seeing it her bright blue eyes immediately widened with pure excitement, like she was staring at her favorite milk bottle in the world. Her tongue flicked out to wet her lips.
And a soft, eager "Charmeleon~♡" escaped her as she leaned in closer. Hot breath washed over my exposed shaft, making it twitch in anticipation.
Yes... finally... char-, her thoughts whispered inside her head...
