Angelo didn't bring up the topic of the wedding for the rest of the night, as curious as he was about the surprise, he also didn't want to ruin it. He hoped the surprise involved Nikolai in a wedding dress.
"You're smiling again," Nikolai pointed out, leaning back in his chair. Dinner was over and the clear skies were gradually covered up by thunderclouds. "Still thinking about me in a dress?"
The assassin beamed across the table at him, "Are my thoughts written on my face?" He asked as he rose to his feet, his tone light.
Nikolai was supposed to get up too so they could leave, but he sat for a few seconds longer, he needed to learn to better handle Angelo's smiles, or his heart wouldn't be able to take it.
He rose to his feet in time to take Angelo's bag before he could, it weighed nothing, the glittering bag hiding the dangerous weapons within. He offered the assassin his arm then, the gentleness in Angelo's eyes still lingered, it soothed the voices in his head.
