Chapter 121 - Chapter 121: Messy Hair

Alix yawned as she rose in the morning. She once again awoke in the bed of the inn that she had to temporarily stay at until repairs on Hedgie's tavern were done.

It's been about four days since things ended. Alix committed herself to helping her boss try to get the shop back up. She even put off going back to school to help. At least that was the case until yesterday. While she was getting ready to go to sleep Hedgie dropped by and told her that she should go back to school. Hedgie expressed thanks to Alix for helping her as much as she did.

"That being said, ya shouldn't put off yer education for my lil' shop. You've got big things in yer future girl! Don't let ole' Hedge hold ya back!" Alix agreed that she had been away from Marconix for far too long. It was about time that she went back. She still had some business to take care of there anyway.

Alix started getting ready to leave for school for the first time in two weeks. She grabbed her satchel, changed into her daily outfit of a black t-shirt, baggy, blue camo pants, and combat boots. Then, she scooped Mo's fishbowl and went to leave the room.

"Woah woah woah! Lexi!" Mo called out in a panic. Alix looked down to the fish with a deadpan expression.

"What is it?"

"What is it? Yer hair's a mess, Lexi! That's what it is! How could ya be so careless with it?" Alix frowned and looked at her hair in a nearby mirror. It was all tangled and unkempt making her look sort of messy and not in a good way. Alix just shrugged.

"It looks fine to me." Mo gasped in horror.

"I thought I taught you better than this, Lexi? Ya've got to keep up with yer hair like I keep up with my scales!" Alix rolled her eyes.

"Why are you making such a big deal out of this Mo?"

"Oh, he isn't the only one, Allie!" Nuka landed on Alix's shoulder shaking her head. "I mean, you know I love you, sis. But that mess of a nest on your head is so hideous that no bird in their right mind would roost in it!" Trouler was also awake but he wasn't as interested in Alix's hair as the other two.

"I really would rather birds not roost in my hair seeing as it's on my head."

"It's a figure of speech, Allie. I'm just saying that your hair is as beautiful as my feathers but if you go out looking like that everyone will treat you like a wild animal!"

"Why woul-"

"JUST PLEASE FIX IT LEXI I'M BEGGIN' YA!" Mo cried in desperation. "I don't want my captain looking worse than the pirates that stay here! So many of them are missing eyes and teeth so it shouldn't be that difficult but if you go out lookin' like that people will think that ya grew up on the streets!" Alix let out an annoyed breath.

"Fine! Alright, I'll fix it!" She stormed out of her room down the hall to Kent's room and kicked the door in. Kent jumped out of bed in shock and confusion as Alix marched over to his stuff.

"Why do you always kick my door down?"

"Because it's always in the way now shut up and tell me where your comb and brush are?" Alix asked though she was already rummaging through the boy's belongings. Kent rubbed his eyes as he had just been woken up.

"Why do you..." Kent paused as he finally got a good look at Alix and realized the urgency of the situation. He let out a conceding sigh and reached into the bed side table next to him. He pulled out a brush and comb pair and tossed them to Alix.

Alix picked up the pair and returned to her own room where she then spent a few extra minutes in front of the mirror fixing her hair since it bothered her monsters so much.

"I just don't understand why you two are making such a big deal out of this. It's my hair and I can do whatever I want with it."

"That's the issue, Lexi. Ya didn't do anything to it. Now straighten that hair so that we can go to school." Mo cheered Alix on while she continued brushing and combing her hair. Only after that was she finally able to leave and head toward Marconix.

As Alix stepped outside she was greeted by the sight of pirates working. They had taken it upon themselves to fix their docks seeing as the city wouldn't put forth the funding to repair the part of the city where all of the pirates stay.

All of the holes that she'd made were the most obvious issues but other than that there were buildings that fell as they failed to withstand the constant intense shaking of the docks. For the same reason some other parts of the port had collapsed into the sea.

It was all quite the big mess. The good news is that over the course of the last few days many of those things were already in far better shape than the day that everything happened. This was thanks to the pirates that stayed on this very port being quick in making sure it was repaired.

Alix walked through the port and into the city. While walking through the city she did notice that things weren't in the best condition here either. She noticed that there were people that seemed to have been deeply affected by the sudden monster attack.

Though Alix and Nuka's flames didn't really burn things the other affect made them just as, and in some ways more, dangerous than normal fire. People were forced to relive moments that they definitely would rather forget and once trapped by the flames they would get burned alive.

It was...gruesome.

Alix once again found herself feeling regretful that she let her emotions take over like that but didn't let it hold her down for long. She had far more important things to worry about. There was no time for her to be feeling guilty.

Besides, it was unknown to her whether something like that could even happen again. Ever since that day she hasn't been able to replicate the transformation that her and Nuka did. She wasn't even fully sure how it happened.

She reasoned that it was likely due to her Heartstrings and maybe some assistance from Omnia Nexus but, like most things with sorcerers, that was just a theory.

Eventually, Alix arrived at the gates of Marconix Tri-versity. She found herself feeling a bit of comfort walking through the gates again. Seems like this place was finally growing on her.

"Oh right, now we have to sit through all of those boring classes again." Mo lamented.

"Hey, you don't have to do anything! Allie's the one taking the classes!" Nuka shouts at Mo.

"Yeah, but she brings me to every class so I may as well be takin' all of em!" Mo complains. Alix scoffs at his words.

"Says the one that used to tell me how much he missed me when I left him in Winston's office back in Nogreni. But if you really don't want to sit through the classes~"

"No! I-I was just jokin'! Don't leave me behind!" Mo frantically apologizes for his complaints which brings a smile to Alix's face and Nuka's beak.

"Calm down, I was never planning on leaving you. And the classes aren't very interesting to me yet either. That is why our first stop of the day is the Headmaster's Building." Alix had been planning for this for the last few days. She needed to see if the Headmaster would be willing to let her leave the Martial path to switch to the Spellcasting one.

After all, she was a sorceress. It was strange for her to even be in the Martial University in first place. And it was all Vance's fault. Alix nodded to herself mentally expressing her disdain for the Principle of the Martial uni. She then went to head toward the headmaster's office.

The headmaster's main office building...

The building that the headmaster had his office in...

...

"Where is the headmaster's office?" Mo groaned and slapped his fin against his cheek as it didn't reach his forehead.

"Why do you always do this, Lexi! Ya make plans before ya know where everything is! This is exactly how we got lost in the forest for a month!"

Alix winced as Mo's words were more true than she liked to admit.

"This is nothing like the forest. I do have a plan this time!" Mo crossed his fins.

"Oh really. And what might be this plan of yers?"

"I am going to go ask Vance to point me in the direction of the headmaster's office."

"Oh, so yer gonna ask for help?"

"It isn't help! I just...am willing to let him set me on the correct path to save my own time." Mo nodded while pursing his lips.

"Hmm hmm. Well it sounds like yer askin' Vance for help but yer too prideful to admit that yer since of direction sucks!" Alix froze for a few seconds glaring at Mo.

"I've only been here for two weeks! Cut me some slack will ya fish?" A cheeky grin appeared on Mo's face.

"Of course! I just needed to here ya say it with yer own lips." Alix clicked her teeth in annoyance. Nuka, during that entire altercation, just ignorantly sat on Alix's shoulder.

"You went through the rainforest?" Alix realized that she hadn't been there during that time. Alix looked down to Trouler who was staring up at her with cute and innocent eyes. A warm smile rose on her face.

"I can tell you about it later. For now, we must get moving." Alix marched off to find the headmaster's office. Or, more specifically, she went to get Vance to take her there!
