Chapter 4539: Encountering the System Again
The transformation of the world into dust means that not even the remains or fragments of that world are left it completely disintegrates into dust, dispersed and annihilated.
If any living beings remain in the world at the time it turns to dust, they will also be reduced to nothing along with the world, without any chance of survival.
Even if one could somehow survive the destruction, where they would end up is unknown to everyone.
According to the Primal Gem, no one has ever survived the dusting of a world.
Yet before a world turns to dust, a space time passage appears this is the world's final lifeline.
Such a passage allows those within to escape; because Lin Moyu carries the imprint of the Chaos Wilderness, he will return there.
The space time passage rebuilt by Little Tree was erased at the very beginning by death itself.
At the urging of the Primal Gem, Lin Moyu entered the space channel, with the World Scorching Fire returning at the same time.
The instant Lin Moyu entered, he glanced back at the little that remained of the world its final ruins dispersing into dust.
Beyond the dust, there was endless void, a bottomless abyss; just looking at it, Lin Moyu felt his soul drawn in.
In that brief moment of looking, his soul spontaneously developed a massive rift.
"Don't look, you'll die!" the Primal Gem shouted.
Lin Moyu tried to close his eyes, but suddenly saw something rather than shutting them, he forced them open, straining to see.
This happened in less than a tenth of a second, and his soul almost shattered instantly.
The space time passage shut, with Lin Moyu carrying his broken soul through the tunnel. Purple light flickered, and his soul tried to piece itself back together.
But the healing was slow, as if some invisible force resisted his rebirth.
The Calamity Scepter's Soul Gem glowed, sending an earthy color into his soul, aiding its reconstruction.
With the Soul Gem's help, Lin Moyu finally achieved rebirth.
The Primal Gem scolded, "Master, you're too disobedient I told you not to look!"
Lin Moyu didn't reply, lost in thought about what he'd seen moments before.
He'd glimpsed a familiar figure: the long lost System.
Years had passed, but he still remembered the moment the System vanished from his soul's void that scene had burned itself into his soul and could not be forgotten.
Later, in the great world, the System reappeared once, saving him that had felt like a backup plan, as if the System had anticipated something dangerous would occur.
After that, the System disappeared again, leaving no trace or news.
But Lin Moyu was certain that his journey from that world to this smaller one, his awakening of a godlike talent, was all connected to the System.
Never did he expect to see it again here.
"No mistake, it's really him."
"He actually appeared here… He really came here."
This place was absolutely uninhabitable, a forbidden zone for life yet the System showed up here.
The System's level far exceeded what Lin Moyu had imagined.
The Primal Gem's voice, tinged with anger, rang in his ears: "Were you even listening? I've never known a master so disobedient."
"That's a forbidden zone of life, even supremes can't survive there. Anyone else who looks at it dies instantly.
Master, do you think your unique gift means you can do anything you want? What if your talent doesn't work then you really will die!"
Lin Moyu caught the crucial point: even supremes couldn't survive there, but the System could.
That meant the System's existence surpassed even supremes.
What exactly was the System, and why did it follow Lin Moyu? And what was he, truly?
He interrupted the Primal Gem's complaints. "What exactly is the forbidden zone of life?"
The Primal Gem stared at him as though he were mad. "A forbidden zone of life is exactly what it sounds like a place where life is forbidden!"
Lin Moyu pressed: "Every place has an origin. Forbidden zone is just a label where did it come from?"
The Primal Gem replied, "How should I know?"
Lin Moyu pursued, "Then how do you know it so well?"
From the Primal Gem's earlier reactions, Lin Moyu sensed more than was said; the Primal Gem acted as if he were very familiar with the forbidden zone.
Lin Moyu was almost certain the Primal Gem had been there himself and stayed a long time.
Pressed by Lin Moyu's questioning, the Primal Gem fell silent, not answering.
His silence only confirmed Lin Moyu's suspicions. Lin Moyu spoke calmly, "Tell me, did you see anything while you were in there?"
After a struggle, the Primal Gem finally admitted, "Well, since you ask so sincerely, I'll say a little but really I shouldn't. The karmic consequences are too big, it could bring trouble."
Lin Moyu replied, "Speak. I'll endure any karma."
Long ago, Lin Moyu might have let it go, but after seeing the System here again, he had to know.
Whatever karma there was, it wasn't linked to the Chaos Wilderness so long as he didn't return there, karma couldn't touch him.
Once he was strong enough to enter the so called forbidden zone, he'd have no need to fear karma anyway.
The System definitely didn't show up here for no reason its appearance must have a purpose.
Lin Moyu suspected that everything the System did was for a reason.
The Primal Gem recounted some of his experiences. He really had ended up drifting into the forbidden zone of life why, he didn't know.
Drifting there, he couldn't control his direction, just aimlessly floated.
He wandered for ages, losing all sense of time.
There was no space in the forbidden zone of life, no sense of direction.
During this drifting, he saw many things witnessed the world turn to dust, the extinction of living beings, the fall of great powers.
Once, a supreme detected him and tried to capture him yet before even approaching, the supreme was annihilated by the forbidden zone.
He named it the forbidden zone of life because not even supremes could survive there.
"At that time, there were still some worlds in the forbidden zone, but over time, they were all destroyed. Some turned to dust; others became remnants, but none escaped destruction.
Supremes tried to escape the world; some lesser beings tried too.
But the instant they entered the forbidden zone, they died no body left behind, reduced to ash."
"The forbidden zone is not somewhere one can enter or even look at. If you were a supreme, you might barely be able to gaze on it."
Most of what the Primal Gem knew came from drifting in the forbidden zone, hearing and seeing but never able to interfere much like the mythical Diting beast, who could only listen and witness.
So he knew a great deal, but it was also tragic he had no freedom, able only to sense, not to act.
Lin Moyu asked, "Was there anything else in the forbidden zone besides you?"
The Primal Gem said, "There were worlds; nothing else. Though maybe the Wall of Heaven and Earth is in there too but I have no proof.
Master, did you see something just now?"
