The man let out a soft sigh, almost amused.
"Oh, calm down, Union Branch Master," he said lightly, lifting one hand in a lazy, almost mocking gesture. "I only came here to talk. You don't have to get so feisty. I promise I won't break anything."
Selene's eyes narrowed further.
Her mana didn't recede. If anything, the faint violet glow around her intensified, curling subtly along her arms like restrained fire.
With her strength, she could have easily subdued the man without much effort and taken him in for questioning, but she could sense there was more to him than what was on the surface.
He was strong, so much so that an attempt at an attack would only serve to put her at a disadvantage in this situation.
And for her to be approached in such a manner at a time like this presented an opportunity, as much as it did risk.
Still, she needed to take control of the situation.
"People who come here uninvited don't get the luxury of talking," she replied coldly. "They get removed."
