Chapter 7 - 7 . Tasty soup ,the tree fort and forgetting something ?

**POV: Finn the Human**

"Too hot!" Finn could not believe what was happening to him right now. He was quickly trying to blow on his tongue while fanning his now flaming mouth. For the first person in this new life of his to betray him to be his brother—how unexpected!

He looked at Jake with a betrayed expression, glaring at the bowl of soup as if it were his biggest enemy. Why was it so hot? How could the first meal he was having after his awakening be this scorching? Weren't patients supposed to be given warm foods?

"Stop crying, you big baby. You forgot to blow on it first before eating," Jake said, looking at him with concern. But Finn could see Jake trying to hold back his laughter, and his displeasure only increased.

Finn lifted the spoon from the steamy bowl again. After blowing on it, he finally brought it to his mouth.

"Wow," he exclaimed the moment an explosion of flavor erupted in his mouth. The mixture of spices was perfectly balanced, the vegetables were cooked to perfection in the broth, and most importantly, the chicken had just the right crunch and flavor. His taste buds were having a wonderful dance party, and he loved it.

*Should I learn to cook? * Finn contemplated the idea. It could serve as a good hobby away from all the adventuring and scientific endeavors he would be undertaking. Food for thought!

This was some of the best chicken soup he had ever tasted. The fact that it was prepared in a completely different world by his dog brother didn't lessen the incredulity of the experience. Or were the ingredients magical? He recalled several occasions when food sources in the show could talk or make sounds.

"How is it?" Finn easily caught the inner smugness in Jake's tone—one that was practically begging for praise for his creation. The smug smile on Jake's face didn't help either. Jake raised an eyebrow, looking at him expectantly, and laughed when he saw Finn take another bite of the soup. That was all the confirmation Jake needed. He was a great chef, as usual.

"By the way, where did you get the chicken for this soup?" Finn asked. If he remembered correctly, they had just recently moved to the tree fort about four months ago. Where had Jake sourced the chicken meat?

They didn't have a chicken coop in the tree house, nor had Finn seen any chickens wandering around the area. Had Jake bought the chicken? That would make sense.

Finn noticed Jake looking down guiltily, like a caught child, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.

"Okay, okay. You got me, it's not chicken meat. But it's bird meat! I got it from the window," Jake added quickly when he saw Finn's expression turn pale, only to return to normal moments later. *Phew, * he sighed in relief, thinking, *Crisis averted. *

Finn didn't mind much, just nodding to show he was satisfied with the answer to his curiosity. He didn't care whether it was chicken or bird meat; he simply wanted to know where it had come from. He was even happier knowing he hadn't eaten meat from a questionable source—after all, that could have traumatized him.

He quickly finished his soup and felt well enough to say he was all right. While he wasn't in good enough shape to start jumping around like a lunatic, he was good enough to walk to the treehouse, and that was exactly what he wanted to do. Why stay confined in a room when he had a world to explore? In this context, the treehouse represented that world.

If he remembered correctly, the tree house was a large weeping willow featuring a main canopy and three smaller canopies connected by narrow wooden bridges. The tree fort was extremely spacious and held many mysteries—mysteries he was eager to uncover meticulously.

First, there was the Entrance or Treasure Room of the tree house, where they would eventually store all their gold, treasures, and artifacts from their dungeon diving and future adventures. This room also served as the main entrance to the fort. He planned to expand the room; he didn't want it to fall apart. He found himself imagining the mountain of gold that would one day fill the space, envisioning all the ways he could use it!

He chuckled to himself, "Heheheh!" Who in their right mind would deny treasure and riches? No one! Well, perhaps someone was not fully aware of what they were missing.

Though he wasn't a particularly materialistic person, the thought of such an impressive sight filled him with a sense of childish wonder. He was determined to make it come true.

The den, which also served as a weapon and study room, was largely underused in both the show and in his memories. It was only occasionally occupied by their unfortunately absent robotic friend, BMO, and a rather mysterious peppermint butler. He wondered when BMO would arrive or if they were supposed to go looking for him.

From his knowledge of the show, he wondered why Peppermint Butler would use the den to conduct his occult studies. Maybe he just wanted a quiet place to work.

Or were the books in the study special? Their dad, Joshua, helped organize most of the things in the treehouse before they moved in—from the furniture to the books and other items. And their dad was not a normal person.

"Could I get Peppermint Butler to teach me about magic?" Finn thought, considering the possibility. The man—Candy? —was living in their house for free.

As Finn reflected on the room, he remembered from the show that a huge blue gauntlet was supposed to be there, and from his memories, he knew it wasn't there yet. An adventure was just waiting to be taken. What was there, though, was a small bomb and a small golden gauntlet.

"Boom." He could already hear the music in his ears.

There was also the kitchen, which had a variety of appliances such as a stove and a cooler, along with a long brown couch and a small table. The kitchen connected to two other rooms: the first living room and the bathroom.

The first living room contained a long red round couch, a table, and a ripped painting of a woman. This living room was linked to the treasure room by one of the many ladders and was in the canopy of the tree fort. The bathroom featured a bathtub, a shower, a mirror, and a toilet, with an animal skin serving as a doorway.

There was also the attic, which stored some of their junk. At some point, Leo thought he could turn it into a sort of lab due to its isolation from the rest of the tree fort. The boat served as a lookout, where they would occasionally relax in the sun, go stargazing, or simply be lazy, but its main purpose was to spot enemies.

The tree fort had a built-in cave on its backside where they kept their tools, machine parts, and equipment that required maintenance. Finn thought it could also serve as a sort of garage, wondering if it was big enough to store a vehicle.

There was a bedroom located in the topmost room of the tree fort, directly above the first living room, easily accessible by a ladder made of planks nailed to the fort. In the bedroom, there was mainly Finn's bed, which consisted of a sleeping bag laid over several pelts from various monsters and animals. Jake's bed was an open drawer of a cabinet. Other items in the bedroom included Jake's viola, a bookshelf, and a picture of a ninja.

The final area in the tree house was the second living room, where Finn was now sitting on a very comfortable purple couch, his head gently resting on its pillows in a warm embrace.

Looking around, he noticed a large monster skin rug, a phonograph in the corner, a wood-burning stove with a pile of kindling next to it, and a clock on the wall that read, "Finn and Jake Timeless." It was a very cozy place to be.

Finn was certain that there were aspects of the house that his old self had either completely ignored or simply didn't care about, and he intended to go over everything again. Despite having memories of the entire tree fort, he still felt confused about the house itself.

"Was there something he was forgetting?" Finn wondered. It felt like there was something important just at the tip of his tongue, but it kept slipping away. If he couldn't remember it, how important could it be? He decided to let the thought go for now. Perhaps it would come to him unexpectedly one day.

For the moment, he just wanted to relax as he planned for future scenarios and considered what he might need to acquire. For instance, he thought about that crystal apple. The ability to open portals, create crystal beings, and connect to the crystal dimension would be fascinating to have. Or maybe those glasses that made someone super smart. If the original Finn could create a black hole machine, weren't those glasses too overpowered?

Leo had been intelligent in his previous life, but even he didn't believe he could create a stable black hole. He was certain it would end poorly, and the technology at the time wouldn't have allowed it. It was more likely he would have blown up the Earth than successfully created one. This realization only made him desire those glasses even more!

After confirming that Finn was okay where he was seated, Jake decided to take out his viola and play a song for him. There was something about music that always made things better, and Finn could only listen as Jake played. It wasn't the best music he had ever heard, but it was sufficient for someone who had taught himself. Finn admired Jake's self-taught talent; not everyone could learn to play an instrument just because they wanted to. It required both talent and dedication at the very least.

Finn himself was somewhat skilled at playing an instrument, but it wasn't his focus for now. Perhaps they could form a band later! That could be an interesting hobby to pursue.

Finn shook his head slightly to refocus. He had noticed that his attention span had decreased recently, as he found himself distracted by almost everything that was mildly interesting. Maybe this younger body was starting to affect him, but that was a problem only time could fix.

He also needed to ensure he recreated a proper lab for himself. With all the machine parts lying around, that was certainly possible. Alternatively, he could borrow Bonnibell's lab, but would she trust him with it? More specifically, could he even make effective use of a candy lab? He doubted it.

Additionally, he needed to learn magic. It could prove useful or even lifesaving. Also, he needed to acquire the demon blood sword and the grass sword; they were two of his most enduring weapons.

Finn also needed to train in Haki and learn about being a ninja!

"Ugh." There was so much to do—too much even. But Finn was not one to worry; he had plenty of time as he had noticed he arrived earlier than when the canon event started. This could only mean he had the time to accomplish everything and train himself to become the best.

Canon Finn had a lot of potential but lacked the training to fully realize it. However, the current Finn was different. He knew the future and understood the possible chaos that would ensue if he failed to grow stronger, and that was not something he could allow to happen.

This was his adventure, after all!

. . . . . .

A/N: This is an introduction to the treehouse based on Finn's previous memories, but there are still secrets to uncover.

Organizing the treehouse is genuinely a challenging task, especially when considering where each room is supposed to be. This was literally the hardest thing I've ever done.

This chapter serves as a filler with a lot of explanations. Future chapters won't include as much discussion about every room at once.
