________
Twenty minutes later, Ray returned, a massive bull slung over his shoulder—easily five times the size of a normal one.
Oliver's eyes widened at the sheer size of the bull and how effortlessly Ray had hoisted it. Once it was set down, Ray glanced at him and said, "Kid, come here. I'll teach you how to roast meat properly."
Oliver nodded, pushing himself up quickly, and joined Ray at his side.
Ray pulled a butcher knife from his small bag and, with expert precision, cut into the bull, removing its organs with practiced ease.
Oliver was stunned as Ray effortlessly sliced through the bull's thick thighs, the meat giving way like butter, even though the butcher knife looked worn and on the verge of snapping.
Oliver watched intently, his eyes following every precise movement as Ray expertly wielded the butcher knife, cutting into the bull with methodical skill.
With the bull fully prepped for roasting, Ray wiped his hands and fixed his gaze on Oliver. "Alright, kid. Go gather some wood—and remember to use the sword swings I taught you. Consider this a good training opportunity."
Oliver nodded, then approached a nearby tree and started slicing its branches with his training sword.
Ray smiled and nodded in approval as he saw Oliver executing the sword strikes he had taught him earlier.
After Oliver gathered the wood, Ray knelt down to teach him how to start a fire. Once the flames were alive, he moved on to demonstrating the proper way to roast the meat.
After half an hour, the food was ready, and Ray and Oliver eagerly began to eat.
"Wow, Ray, this tastes amazing!" Oliver exclaimed, a broad smile spreading across his face.
Ray laughed heartily at Oliver. "Kid, this is just plain roasted meat. I didn't even use any spices on the bull. Wait until the restaurant opens—I'll show you what real cooking looks like."
Oliver smiled and nodded, and together they dug into their food, laughing and chatting as they ate.
Once they were full, Ray fixed Oliver with a serious gaze. "Alright, kid, the last part of today's training is the hardest. From here on, you'll have to fight every animal you encounter in the forest."
Oliver was on the verge of complaining and refusing when he suddenly heard a notification from the system.
Ding, the system detect the host need to make a choice
1. Listen to Ray reward Observation Haki training manual.
2. Refuse to go and fight against animals; reward: get the newest model pistol
After hearing the system notification, Oliver paused, considering his next move. 'I'm eager to relax after this delicious meal, but first… I need to know what this observation Haki.'
Oliver turned to the system. 'System… what is this Observation Haki you mentioned?'
Host, to explain to you what is observation, Haki I will need to first explain to you what Haki is.
Haki is often described as the manifestation of a person's spirit, will, or life force, and it can be honed to levels that surpass normal physical abilities. Even though everyone has it inherently, only those who push themselves—mentally, emotionally, and physically—can unlock its true potential.
Haki comes in two main forms: Armament Haki, also called Color of Arms, and Observation Haki, also known as Color of Observation. There's a rare third type, Conqueror's Haki, which only one in a million people can wield.
Most people can train and learn Armament Haki, which strengthens attacks, and Observation Haki, which sharpens perception. But Conqueror's Haki cannot be trained you must be born with it.
Oliver's eyes widened in surprise, his curiosity about Haki deepened, as the system continued.
Observation Haki grants a sixth sense to a person and thus allows them to sense someone's presence without even actually seeing them. By honing this Haki, the user can anticipate attacks, perceive emotions, discern intents, and estimate strength.
Users who have mastered Observation Haki to a high degree will be able to see a few seconds into the future.
Oliver couldn't believe what he was hearing, and a small smile tugged at his lips. 'Observation Haki… this is truly fascinating,' he mused.
He turned and began walking deeper into the forest, his voice echoing softly as he called back to Ray, 'I'll see you later.'
DING.
The host had chosen to listen to Ray Would host want to claim the reward now?
'Not now, system, I will claim the reward later.' Oliver replied to the system.
As you wish, host
Ray smiled as he watched Oliver disappear into the forest, nodding in quiet satisfaction. Settling beneath a tree, he thought, 'The kid shouldn't get into any trouble out here. He's surprisingly smart for a seven-year-old kid. I'll just take a short nap before checking on him.'
Having made up his mind, Ray closed his eyes and drifted off for a nap.
_______
Deep in the Forest
Oliver wandered through the forest, his eyes lighting up with excitement at the sight of the towering trees.
The trees towered, five times larger than normal; he had never seen anything so massive, not even on Commy Island or in his past life.
As Oliver admired the towering trees, he failed to notice that he was quietly being followed by monkeys.
The monkeys trailing Oliver didn't resemble the usual forest-dwelling kind; they hid deftly among the branches of the enormous trees.
Those monkeys had gray fur, blood-red eyes, and dark black tails, with claws and fangs. They were as big as Oliver.
The monkeys followed Oliver silently, so he remained completely unaware of their presence.
Suddenly, one of the monkeys lunged at Oliver with astonishing speed.
"WHOOSH."
"SQUASH."
"AAAAHHHHH."
Oliver screamed in pain as the monkey's claw slashed deeply across his chest.
The claw shredded Oliver's shirt and gouged his chest. A sneak attack like that would have killed any ordinary seven-year-old, yet Oliver survived, thanks to his innate strength physique keeping him on his feet.
Oliver gritted his teeth against the pain, unsheathed his training sword, and scanned his surroundings. His eyebrow twitched in shock when he realized he was surrounded by fifty gray-furred monkeys.
Oliver glanced down at his chest and saw blood pouring from the wound, his brow furrowing in concern. He immediately assumed the defensive stance Ray had taught him, his grip tightening as a single thought echoed in his mind: 'I need to deal with them as quickly as possible—then I can focus on stopping the bleeding.'
A smile spread across his face as his heart raced with anticipation for the coming battle. Seeing Oliver smile at them, the monkeys narrowed their eyes and let out deafening roars.
"RRROOOOAAAARRR."
All fifty monkeys surged toward Oliver simultaneously, their claws gleaming with murderous intent as they prepared to rip him apart.
"CLANK, CLANK, CLANK, CLANK, CLANK."
"SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH."
Each time Oliver managed to block a monkey's claw with his training sword, another monkey struck from a blind spot, its claws tearing into him.
After five minutes, Oliver's entire body was riddled with cuts, blood streaming profusely from every wound.
Oliver gritted his teeth, suppressing a scream as the monkeys' claws tore into his flesh.
'This is bad. If this keeps up, I'm going to die— they're far too fast for me to keep up with.'
A sudden wave of dizziness hit Oliver, and before he could react, four monkeys slashed him simultaneously, their claws carving into four separate parts of his body.
"SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH."
Oliver gritted his teeth and sank to his knees, his strength faltering under the relentless assault.
The moment Oliver fell on his knees, the monkeys erupted into a deafening roar, celebrating their apparent victory.
Oliver's anger toward the monkeys flared. 'I won't die again. I want to master swordsmanship and cooking. I finally have a father. I refuse to be beaten by these monkeys. This is way too humiliating.'
Oliver glared at the monkeys with blazing fury and let out a roar that echoed through the forest.
"I REFUSE TO DIE."
When Oliver yelled, an invisible force erupted from him, sweeping over all the monkeys that surrounded him.
"THUD, THUD, THUD, THUD, THUD."
The eyes of all the monkeys turned ghostly white, and one by one they collapsed, unconscious, under the sweep of the invisible force.
Oliver raised his brows in shock. 'Did they… all just fall asleep in the middle of a fight?'
Realizing this, anger flooded Oliver's body. He staggered to his feet and shouted, his voice shaking with fury,
"How dare they fall asleep in the middle of fighting me?! Do they really see me as this weak? This is unforgivable… utterly disgraceful!"
Oliver began to advance toward the monkeys, each step measured and deliberate, his fingers digging into the hilt of his training sword as if it were the only anchor keeping him steady.
"PU, PU, PU, PU, PU."
Oliver moved without hesitation, plunging his sword into the monkeys' hearts, slicing through their throats, and crushing their skulls with precise, merciless strikes.
After killing all the monkeys, he stumbled toward a nearby tree. Dizziness clouded his senses, and he thought wearily, 'I'm exhausted and hungry… I should rest a while before I feast on them.'
Oliver's vision blurred, and he accidentally struck the tree trunk. A fruit tumbled from above and hit him squarely on the head.
Oliver raised his eyebrows as he examined the fruit. 'What an odd-looking fruit… I've never come across anything like it before.'
Oliver bent down and picked up the fruit from the ground. Its shape was astonishing—resembling a tiger's head, with two wing-like extensions sprouting from its sides.
The fruit was covered in swirling marks, its white surface streaked with bold black stripes.
Oliver felt an almost magnetic pull from the fruit, as if it were calling to him. He murmured to himself, 'I'm hungry… I should eat it. After all, it's just a fruit.'
After deciding, he opened his mouth wide and sank his teeth into the fruit.
"CRUNCH."
"AAAACCCKKKK."
"Ugh! This fruit is disgusting—like a spoiled egg!" Oliver yelled,, "What on earth is this?"
______
At the same time
Ray woke up from his nap, and he stood, "Well, this was a short nap. I should go and look for the kid now."
He closed his eyes for a few seconds, and when he opened his eyes, he looked straight to the right with serious expression.
"I should hurry, as I sense the kid's presence is significantly weaker than before; he must be in trouble." Ray thought to himself, and he quickly disappeared from his spot.
______
With Oliver
Oliver's dizziness vanished the moment he bit into the fruit, though he grimaced and complained about its foul taste. He was about to walk toward the monkeys to begin roasting them when his body suddenly began to transform.
Oliver's teeth elongated into sharp fangs. Two majestic white wings burst from his back as his eyes turned a glowing gold, pupils narrowing into slits. A white tail emerged from his lower body, and his arms and legs twisted into animalistic forms, ending in deadly claws. In a final surge of pain and power, Oliver completed his transformation—becoming a massive white tiger with wings.
At that very moment, Ray arrived—just in time to witness the transformation. He slapped his palm against his forehead and muttered, 'Damn it… I forgot to tell him about the Devil Fruits.'
He then looked at Oliver in his transformed state and chuckled. "That kid is unbelievably lucky. According to the intelligence I received, the World Government is searching everywhere for this fruit—and he just stumbled right into it."
Ray then started walking toward Oliver.
After Oliver transformed into a white, winged tiger, panic surged through him. He yelled at the top of his lungs, "What the hell happened to me?!"
"Calm down kid,"
When Oliver heard Ray's voice, his eyes lit up with relief and he shouted, "Ray! Help me—look at what happened to me!"
Ray chuckled softly at Oliver's words. "Easy there, kid. I'll explain everything, but you've got to calm down first."
Oliver nodded and took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. Then he heard Ray say, "Now close your eyes and try to transform back into your original form."
Oliver nodded and shut his eyes tightly. After thirty tense seconds, the changes receded, and he transformed back into his human form.
When Oliver finally shifted back into his human form, a wild, almost demonic laughter tore from his throat. "HAHAHAHAHA! I AM HUMAN AGAIN!" he bellowed, his voice echoing with sheer exhilaration.
Ray chuckled at Oliver's antics and said, "Let's go back, Oliver. I need to explain why you transformed.'"
Oliver nodded, and he followed Ray.
Ray's eyebrows shot up, and his eyes widened in shock as he looked at the monkeys. "Did you really kill all of these by yourself?' he asked.
Oliver nodded. "Yeah, I hate to admit it, but if they hadn't fallen asleep in the middle of the fight, they could've killed me."
Ray's eyebrows shot up in confusion. "What do you mean, Oliver?" he asked.
Oliver recounted his battle against the monkeys in detail, and Ray was stunned to hear that all of them had fallen unconscious simply from Oliver's furious yell.
Ray's mind raced after Oliver's words: 'Could he possess it? The boy had the bearing of a king—pride, charisma, an aura that demanded attention. Yet that same fire, unchecked, could be dangerous. I must test him—and soon, help him master it—before it caused harm to others.'
Ray made up his mind, turned to Oliver, and said, "Oliver, there's a lot we need to do. Let's head back quickly."
Oliver raised his eyebrows in surprise at Ray's words, but he nodded, and together they left the forest.
