With a thunderous roar, the Three-Tailed Isobu burst out of its weakened seal, a maelstrom of malevolence swirling in its crimson eyes. Its massive frame rose under the moonlit mist, casting an enormous shadow over the Kirigakure village. For a fleeting moment, it seemed to recognize its surroundings—this village of betrayal, of centuries-old suppression. Another roar echoed through the streets before Isobu opened its maw wide and unleashed a devastating stream of water.
*BOOOOM!*
A violent torrent shot forward, razing the nearby buildings to splinters and soaking the surrounding streets in destruction.
"AHHHH!!"
"What's happening?!"
"Run for your lives!!"
Panic erupted across the Kirigakure village. Civilians scattered in terror, some frozen by fear, others desperately fleeing as the buildings around them crumbled like paper. Screams pierced the night while smoke and debris filled the air. The fury of the freed tailed beast was like a tsunami—relentless, unfeeling, unstoppable.
Having suffered centuries of imprisonment and manipulation, Isobu's resentment boiled over. The beast didn't hesitate. It turned its massive head again, inhaled sharply, and spewed a second, even more ferocious column of water, flooding entire streets and sweeping away the last semblance of order.
On its back stood a lone figure, bathed in moonlight—Senmei Asahi.
He stood steady, chakra anchored to the soles of his feet, calmly observing the chaos beneath him. The village was descending into pandemonium. The once-quiet stronghold of Kirigakure was now a warzone of crumbling architecture, wailing civilians, and the unrestrained wrath of a Tailed Beast.
"Well done, Three-Tails." Asahi praised, arms crossed as he surveyed the scene.
But the beast didn't take kindly to the compliment. Recognizing a human riding its back, it let out another roar—this one of indignation—and began thrashing violently. It charged down the street, knocking over walls, trampling houses, and turning the paved road into a muddy trail of destruction in its effort to dislodge the unwelcome rider.
Asahi gritted his teeth, reinforcing the chakra at his feet to maintain balance. "Tch... stubborn thing." he muttered. The chaotic bucking only exacerbated the damage, and more villagers—caught in the wrong place at the wrong time—were crushed underfoot or swept away by Isobu's water attacks.
It didn't take long for Kirigakure's shinobi forces to mobilize. Dozens of Kiri ninja appeared, quickly erecting Earth Style ∙ Mud Wall after Earth Style ∙ Mud Wall, trying to contain the rampaging tailed beast. The walls served only to irritate Isobu, who smashed through them with brute force. Occasionally, a well-aimed wall disrupted one of the beast's water jets, but it was hardly enough.
"Keep the beast boxed in!" shouted one jōnin.
But the truth was clear—Isobu's power far surpassed what ordinary jōnin or chūnin could manage. It was only a matter of time before the Kiri ninja started falling. Even more so, Asahi's true goal had already been achieved: to reduce Kirigakure's military strength through internal catastrophe.
He watched from the shadows now, having teleported off Isobu's back using his Flying Thunder God Technique.
"It would be great if I could summon." Asahi muttered, crouching on a rooftop far from the battle. "If I had a few boss toads or snakes, we could flatten half the village."
Still, what Isobu was doing alone was beyond satisfactory. The Kiri ninja surrounded the beast, flinging Water-style, Fire-style, and even Lightning-style techniques in rapid succession, but the monster's armored body shrugged off most of it. The only vulnerable points—its eyes—were protected by high-pressure jets of water. No one could get close.
Isobu's counterattacks became increasingly vicious, flattening entire blocks. Blood stained the streets. The very earth quaked beneath the tailed beast's wrath.
"This will be a long fight." Asahi thought. "The Fourth Mizukage will likely intervene. Let's see what he does to subdue Isobu."
But deeper in his mind, something more pressing loomed. If the Mist's plan to implant Isobu into Nohara Rin had failed, then what would Uchiha Madara do now? That scheme had been critical in pushing Uchiha Obito into despair and darkness.
"Now that the story's off-script... the real war begins." Asahi whispered to himself.
Just then, an angry voice shouted, yanking Asahi from his thoughts.
"You bastard!"
*Shing!*
Shuriken flew at him from the shadows. Asahi flipped backward and landed lightly, eyes narrowing as eight Kiri ninja emerged from the mist.
"You again?" he asked, mildly amused.
Among them stood Terumi Mei, eyes blazing with fury.
"How did you know that I got in back then?" Asahi asked casually, brushing dust off his cloak. "I must've made a mistake. Knowing what went wrong means I can improve the next infiltration."
"Shut up!" Mei roared. "There won't be a next time, you devil!"
One of the Kirigakure jōnin stepped forward. "You're Senmei Asahi, from Konoha, right?"
Asahi gave a curt nod.
"Why would a Konoha ninja commit such a vile act?!"
"I already told you." Asahi said coolly. "Your village tried to do the same to us—implanting the Three-Tails into one of our genin and sending her back to explode in our midst. I'm just giving you what you planned for us."
"That's a lie!!" Mei shouted, forming seals.
Asahi smirked. "Then how do you think I got my hands on your Jinchūriki? You had them under guard, dragging them out of the village. You can shout all you want, but your face says I'm right."
The other Kiri ninja flinched, some glancing at their superior in shame.
"After tonight, Kirigakure will be the weakest of the Five Great Nations." Asahi said coldly. "What right will you have to lecture Konoha on anything?"
"Enough!! I'll kill you!" Mei screamed, forming a long chain of hand seals before unleashing Lava Style ∙ Lava Monster Jutsu, spraying a stream of burning acidic liquid toward him.
*Fwoooosh!*
Asahi didn't move. Instead, he calmly threw a kunai at Mei's feet. Just before the acid could melt through his body, he vanished in a flicker of light—Flying Thunder God Technique—and reappeared beside the kunai.
"Watch out!" a Kiri ninja shouted, dragging Mei aside.
But no attack came.
"He ran off?"
"No. He's playing with us." said another.
Unseen to them, Asahi stood once again on Isobu's back, having placed a Flying Thunder God Seal there earlier.
"Only someone who understands the formula can remove it. Good luck with that." he muttered.
"Where did he go?!" Mei demanded, eyes scanning the mist.
Then—
*BOOM!*
A sudden shockwave blasted out as Asahi teleported once again—this time right in front of one of the jōnin—and landed a devastating punch to the man's chest.
*CRASH!*
The ninja flew through the air, smashed into a nearby building, and was buried under its collapse.
