Chapter 926 - Chapter 926 Hitching a Ride

Sunday, who had already infiltrated the Ross base, quickly reported everything that had happened to Blonsky to William.

"Still no reply from Harry Hart?"

"Apologies, Sir. Mr. Hart is very concerned about the side effects you mentioned. He's asked you to focus more on hardware research and development."

"Heh, Harry really sees things clearly," William shook his head, remembering how a few days ago he had invited both him and Garris to the castle. Garris agreed immediately, not caring in the slightest whether human experimentation would be involved.

Meanwhile, Harry Hart, the former ace agent now managing the daily affairs of Kingsman in William's place, was much more cautious when it came to serum-related matters.

It was probably because he had already enjoyed the benefits of the Devonshire Type-II Armor, the Kun-class fighter jet, and several other gadgets William had created.

Hart had strongly urged William to shift his focus back to researching and upgrading equipment.

As for Garris, after seeing William recover the micro-storage device that contained the research data on the Decepticon Sarc Giant, he simply agreed to everything William said.

"You two go back and prepare proper laboratories. If anyone asks, just say you're doing research on human potential. Then just wait."

Hart and Garris finally understood William's intention—he was just using them as bait.

So after lunch, even though neither of them was in the mood to hunt, they still accompanied William for a stroll in the forest near the castle before heading back to London.

What surprised William, however, was that after putting the word out, he expected a quick response from the upper echelons of England. But even after several days had passed, and Ross was already preparing to take action against the Decepticons, there was still no movement from England's side.

But William wasn't in a hurry. The message had been sent, and the game was all about who would take the bait.

At 11 PM in the USA, Blonsky and his team were ready, driving more than a dozen Humvees toward Boston. Meanwhile, four Apache helicopters had already arrived at the base nearest to Boston, waiting in standby.

Just as William was watching the action unfold, a thought placed him above the convoy. A sweep of his mental power over the vehicles revealed, to his surprise, that Ross himself was also in the convoy.

This old man held such a high rank and still liked to be on the front lines. It was unclear whether he just loved the spotlight or didn't trust his subordinates to command properly.

"Get me General Ross on the phone."

Inside a command Humvee, Ross was sitting with his eyes closed, contemplating the operation, when a ringing sound came from his pocket.

He picked it up and frowned, wondering why William was calling at this time.

Pressing the answer button, he heard, "Good evening, General Ross. You don't mind if I hitch a ride, do you?"

"Hitch a ride?"

In just a moment, Ross figured William must be tailing them in a spaceship. Though he was annoyed, he was also curious why William had decided to show up at this moment.

Covering the phone, he said to his aide, "Tell the lead vehicle to keep an eye out for anyone trying to hitch a ride."

Hearing Ross's words, William thanked him and hung up the phone. Instantly, he appeared by the roadside three kilometers ahead of the convoy.

After standing there for a few seconds, he felt that just waiting like that by the roadside was beneath him.

With a single thought, a 35-meter-long spaceship appeared high in the sky. Transporting himself aboard, William cloaked the ship and moved it to a position one kilometer ahead of the convoy.

As the spaceship suddenly appeared in the air, glowing with blue light about ten meters off the ground, the navigator in the lead vehicle's passenger seat shouted into the radio for an emergency stop and to be on alert. The lead vehicle slammed on the brakes and came to a skewed halt in the middle of the road.

Before the soldiers could even man the rooftop machine guns, the spaceship blinked and reappeared right next to Ross's Humvee, making everyone tense up, their guns nervously aimed at the ship.

Blonsky, grabbing a grenade launcher, took a few quick steps to Ross's vehicle. Though his weapon was aimed at the ship, he was already mentally prepared to yank the door open and pull Ross to safety at a moment's notice.

Luckily, Ross regained his composure and realized that only William could possess such a spaceship. He quickly shouted through the radio to stand down.

Then, under everyone's watchful eyes, a beam of light emerged from the ship, and William, dressed in casual clothes, stepped out of the hatch.

"Hi, Lieutenant Colonel Blonsky. Nice to meet you," William smiled at Blonsky, who was standing just a few meters away. "Colonel, I'm William Devonshire. You should salute me."

As an English lieutenant colonel seconded to Ross, Blonsky quickly recalled that William indeed held military rank. Having served as a soldier for over ten years, he instinctively stood at attention and saluted.

"Stand down, Blonsky."

Recognizing that it really was William, Ross opened the Humvee door and got out, his face full of envy and desire as he looked at the spaceship.

Once the ship's hatch closed and the stealth mode engaged, Ross looked at William and asked tentatively, "Not going to invite me aboard for a look around?"

"Sorry, this is my private spaceship. Normally, I only let ladies on."

William had just stolen classified intel from England a few days ago—letting someone like Ross onto his ship would be unthinkable.

Regardless of whether Ross was upset or not, William pretended to frown and stared at Blonsky for seven or eight seconds before suddenly coming to a realization and saying,

"Feeling like there's a restless beast inside you? Get excited just thinking about combat? Blood boiling, and you can't wait to go berserk and crush every enemy in sight?"

Ever since he had taken the serum and felt invincible, Blonsky was stunned by how accurately those words described him.

If it had been anyone else saying that, he wouldn't have paid any attention. But this was William Devonshire—the globally renowned figure hailed as a peer to any scientific genius.

And given that the spaceship had just appeared in front of him, and William had perfectly described how he felt, Blonsky couldn't help but take it seriously.

As the head of the Super Soldier Serum project, Ross was equally stunned—how did William know, with just one look, that Blonsky had taken the serum?

Glaring at William, he asked seriously, "How did you figure it out?"

"It's not just you who's doing research. England is, too. And," William dodged the question, "this is actually not difficult for me—much easier than building a spaceship."

"Not difficult? Easy?"

Ross was so furious he nearly had a stroke. This was the culmination of his life's work—God knows how many scientists, how many decades of effort it had taken to achieve this one breakthrough—and William dared to say it was easy?

Meanwhile, as an Englishman, Blonsky's eyes were gleaming as he looked at William, suddenly wondering if William had something even more powerful than the Super Soldier Serum.

Suppressing the urge to punch William, Ross personally opened the car door. "Get in. We need to talk."

"No problem."

Using someone else's creation to turn the tables on them—William was secretly thrilled, and he climbed into the Humvee with Ross without hesitation.

Blonsky didn't stand on ceremony either. He kicked out the driver and the aide and took the wheel himself.

This was about his own body. Even if he now knew William was the boss of the White Ghosts, he wouldn't dare touch him.
