Yan Luoxi draped on a coat and tiptoed outside the study. A sliver of dim yellow light seeped through from inside; she wasn't sure if the person in the room was asleep. After much hesitation, she silently opened the door.
Peeking inside, she saw the man lying on the sofa with his clothes on, a warm orange lamp casting a lonely hue on him.
She observed for a while, making sure he was asleep, and then pushed the door open, tiptoeing inside.
The man on the sofa didn't wake up as she approached slowly, standing beside him and watching from above, before crouching down. He lay on his side, facing the back of the sofa, with the back of his head exposed.
She held her breath and reached out her hand, intending to peel off the bandage to see the extent of his injury, afraid to return home and scare her.
