Don rose back into a stance, the rifle slinging free against his side as he said nothing to the man standing opposite him.
Rain still sheeted down through the broken canopy, turning the ground into a wet mix of mud and shredded foliage, but the discomfort barely registered.
Though the man was superhuman, through countless trials and errors training with Redstar, Don could not see himself losing.
From Redstar alone he had received harder hits, denser impacts that had rattled bone and left bruises deep enough to linger for days.
The adaptability he had forced out of himself just trying to keep up with those spars now sat ready in his limbs.
The man's strength was real and the impacts could not penetrate through the armor, yet Don was certain the force carried through into muscle and joint all the same.
What he needed to do now was see just how much the man could endure, hopefully before more such forces arrived.
