Chapter 62 - The luckiest

The wolfs body was split in two right before it got to Damon by somekind of long object that appeared in the blink of an eye.

Following the trajectory the object flew from, he could see a figure around 3 meters tall standing at least a hundred meters away. Looking closely ,the hairs on Damons neck stood up and a crawling discomfort flushed over his body. A dark brown hairy ape beast stood in place with heavy gazing eyes.

Hearing a howl behind him snapped him out of his thoughts. The other wolf was approaching him fast, his cloud beast was down and unmoving. Before he could react the red wolf launched at him, but was suddenly stopped as the ape looking beast was now in front of him grabbing the wolf by its heads and slamming it to the ground.

Damon blinked with crazed eyes while stumbling backwards nearly falling. His mouth slightly dropped as his eyes moved from the ape beast wide feet to its broad muscular shoulders and arms and to the back of its large head

The wolf kicked and whined in pain, but the ape dug its sharp nails into its side while picking it up ripping a hole through it roaring. It threw it off to the side and slung the flesh and blood off its hands which splashed on the ground and Damons face.

He flinched in disgust before wiping it off and spitting up as some of it had flown in his mouth making him gag.

Turning around the beast looked at him and roared revealing its sharp long four fangs and strong teeth. Damon backed up in fear tripping over the other wolfs torn body and hit the ground.

The ape grabbed Damon lifting him up in the air like he was a small action figure. Damon didn't even see it move, but one second he was on the ground and the next being held high in the air. It's hot breath caused sweat to crawl down his cheeks, his breath became shakey and Damon turned his head closing his eyes not knowing what else to do.

The ape sniffed him while touching his dread locs looking at them oddly, with a loud release of air from its nose, the ape let Damon go who legs buckled a little after his feet hit the ground. Damon still didn't move an inch, his mind wouldn't let him, he couldn't think, it was like a fog of darkness clouded his mind keeping him from any clarity.

"You were by river, Yes" It's voice was deep and monstrous, its words also dragged a little like it was having a difficult time speaking, but Damon could make out its words clearly.

He balled up his lips in hesitation while gulping down saliva nervously. He didn't know what to do and his mind wasn't working properly. He wanted to respond, but nothing came out.

Low growls were heard off to the side of them and to Damons surprise both wolves were still alive. The one with its body cut in half was crawling towards them snapping its jaws wildly.

The other one was crawling as well dragging its hind legs behind it like a crippled person with a large hole in its side .

The ape grabbed Damon by his arm forcing him over to a long spear made out of bones that was stuck in the ground. Damon didn't dare pull against the beast, he knew it wouldn't have mattered if he tried.

Pulling out the bone spear, the ape then pushed him lightly towards the infected beasts. stopping in front of one of the wolves the ape stomped on its body holding it in place. Lifting its spear, it pushed down stopping inches away from its head. It repeated the same movements a couple times before gesturing Damon to do it.

Understanding what it was trying to tell him, Damon gulped nervously as clouds gathered forming a trident. He pushed down on its head as hard as he could, but the Trident began cracking, It was no use. His power wasn't strong enough to hurt the infected high matured alpha wolf.

The ape then pulled out a large white jagged shard to that somewhat resembled a dagger and handed it to him. In Damon hands it was like a long sword, but in the apes huge hands it was like a large dagger.

It was sharp and jagged, but incredibly light compared to the way it looked.

[White obsidian shard - one of the rarest and strongest natural materials in the galaxy born through a lithification process that takes over 500 years. Obsidian is known to ward off evil essence making it incredibly useful against many races of a fiend nature. Craftable, superior rarity.]

He looked at it with wide eyes trapped by its crystalized glass features. The ape roared at him with flashing green eyes getting his attention and making him jump in panic damn near shitting on himself.

"Kill " it said with a long snarl, its eyes smoldering a green glow.

He lifted the large shard over its head and pushed down cutting through its heads like a needle poking through a piece of paper.

The second the incredibly sharp, white obsidian shard touched The wolf, the purple haze dispersed leaving it completely defenseless. He could feel it separate parts of its skull and brain matter effortlessly as dark purple bubbling blood and yellow liquid poured from its heads. He then swung the shard down separating the two heads from its body and digging out its core per further instructions from the ape.

The ape pointed to the other wolf and he did the same thing, separating its head from its shoulders in one strike and separating the infected core from its mangled body.

[Ding!]

[Cloud beast of chamber one has perished]

Seeing the notification Damon began running out of reflex, but didn't get far as the ape cut him off with a single jump. It growled walking forward thinking Damon was attempting to escape or something. Damon didn't mean to run, it was just his first instinct to do so after seeing the message.

"Wait, I, I wasn't stealing from you, It's my friend. He needs help." He said trembling as he pointed in the direction of his soul beast. Damons hands were so unsteady and his mind felt so heavy with fear and worry to the point his heart would beat irregularly ever few seconds.

The ape stopped and looked back seeing a gold colored beast laying in the grass at the base of a tree.

"Friend, help" it said.

"Yes, Help. I have to help my friend." Damon said with shimmering eyes.

Damon said friend Instead of beast because he thought it sounded better, his choice of words seemed to help because the next moment the ape grabbed Damon holding him under its arm and in one jump they were in front of his cloud beast.

Damon yelped in discomfort slightly as his body jerked upon the beast hard landing. His ribs ached a bit, but he ignored it while kneeling near his cloud beast and short lived friend.

He touched the beast, running his hands through its fur thanking it for its help. Even though their time together was extremely short. The beast had saved his life more than once and protected him till the end.

He probably could have healed its wounds which were bite marks and holes all over its body, but mainly a large mangly hole on its neck, that clearly showed the wolf ripped it open and took a few extra bites as well.

Damon took in a shakey breath, soon exhaling while thinking if he had gotten to it in time, maybe things would have played out different. He thought he could have used an elixer or something. It was obvious the wounds his beast obtained happened too fast and were too great for his recovery mist to keep up with the healing, as it still was raining and recovery mist was still active.

Recovery mist didn't heal the wounds of the dead so it stopped healing the beast as soon as it died. With that in mind, he made the rain clouds disappear.

[Unnamed cloud beast core has been obtained. Can only be used on another cloud beast for growth.]

"Unnamed." Damon whispered while shaking his head with dark regretting eyes. He saw the other half of the message which he thought was good, initially he thought the core would just disappear or something because the cloud beast wasn't exactly normal.

The ape stood over him and watched closely. It walked a few steps away and punched the ground creating a large hole, It looked at Damon for a second before grabbing the beast and placing it inside.

"Must care for life, burry, soul safe from sickness, underground."

Damon nodded not knowing what else to do and began throwing dirt on top. The ape helped him which didn't take long, as the last bit of dirt covered the cloud beast, golden flakes flew up from its fur, floating away as a slight breeze swept by them.

"Unnamed, no. Auric is your name, it means gold, Auric the protector. Thank you for protecting me. If I live, I promise to only give your core to a worthy beast in your memory." He said watching the gold dust disappear in the wind.

Out the corner of his eyes he saw movement within part of the destroyed forest. The ape was already looking that way, it then glanced at Damon gesturing for him to go.

"Finish it all " it said.

Revealing themselves, Damon saw it was the six low matured fully infected wolves from before, he thought they were dead. They were gravely hurt, but not for long as he could tell their wounds were healing somehow. Even the one with half its head missing was beginning to heal and reshape.

"Sick, must always kill the head and remove poisonous beast core, Only way." A deep voice spoke behind him.

His grip tightend around the white obsidian shard, he clinched his teeth and pulled the shard sword back and shot forward with multiple twisting cloud swords that appeared at his side flying at great speed.

"Haaaaa,raaaaaa.....ra, ra, ha, die, die." He shouted while wildly swinging the obsidian sword shard. He used the flying cloud swords as distractions while he quickly performed a difinte strike or blow to there heads.

They all was still very injured and so 4 out of the six couldn't move as fast and quickly got dealt with. Damon sliced they're heads off and snatched out their cores one by one. He had killed them all, but he couldn't stop hacking away at they're dead bodies. After five minutes, his arms grew tired as his muscles began cramping with every swing, his sunset colored eyes faded Into a grey dead hue.

The ape stood behind him and watched his uncontrolled and wild assault go from a young boy that seemed to be mad at his life, the world and everything in it to a scared kid who didn't know what he was really doing. Damons arm trembled with each strike as tears ran down his face eventually coming to a stop.

Ding!

Before Damon could fully read the notifications his mind blinked out and he found himself standing in a all white marble stone room. In the center was a silver and gold altar with a book on top.

"Haha, wakey, wakey." Said a chippy, deep and familiar voice. Standing before him was a giant that stood four meters tall with ram like horns on its head.

"You did it kid, you made me a winner. I could give you a big fat kiss right now." Greenhorn said with a smile showing his sharp yellow teeth.

Damon stepped back holding his hands up as green horn was coming in for a hug.

"No,no. That won't be necessary." He said with a look of concern backing away.

"What, why not, It's my horns isn't it?"

"Ughhh, yea something like that." He said while thinking there was no way he was being cradled by such a scary looking giant.

Damon blinked a few times, even though he had seen greenhorn before. It was still very unsettling looking at such a beast with razor sharp teeth and a creepy smile.

"So, how you feel, you're not going to die in six weeks. Well not that we know of, life can be a bitch so ya never know." He said with a large smile.

Damon didn't know what to say, he guessed it was greenhorns way of congratulating him. It felt like he was congratulating him while still saying even though he was successful this time, it may be different in the near future.

Which was true, but he felt it was kinda messed up to say something like that right now.

"Well, I was pretty lucky. I had a ton of help."

"Yea well, it doesn't matter, all that matters is you didn't make me look like a fool. If you did, I would found a way to resurrect you and kill you to make your bones apart of my accessories. Good thing that didn't happen." He said so casually.

Damon gulped while taking a step back noticing a large necklace made of bones around his neck, he could tell it wasn't beast bones and had more of a human shape.

" Relax, I'm just pulling your leg kid, your full awakening awaits " he said moving to the side gesturing Damon to walk towards the altar."
