Chapter 4 - Unexpected Takeover

Kodak's ears then began to pick up a few words from Azar, well besides the ringing in his ears.

His eyes widen as the blood vessels in his eyes began to turn blood red. His arms and legs than began to twitch as Azar then jumped back.

He scoffed as he saw Kodak stand. "DON'T TELL ME YOU STILL THINK YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU KAWANARI TRASH!"

The blue lightning bolts then shot out from Azar's hand.

[Innate Skill: Thunderblast Activated!]

Kodak then grabbed the blast of lightning and thunder, holding it back as his hand began to bleed from just simple contact.

But Azar didn't dare mock his opponent this time. Instead he could sense Kodak's bloodlust had finally revealed itself for the first time.

It was dense, suffocating, and seemed almost malevolent. Hell, he could sense that Kodak wasn't himself anymore.

Blood then dripped from his eyes as kinetic energy surrounded him. Kodak's bloody eyes the pierced right through Azar.

But as Kodak was prepared to launch himself forward, a whistle from the referee could be heard. "INJURIES ARE BECOMING TOO CRITICAL, STOP THE MATCH AT ONCE!"

Kodak then looked at the referee with his bloodlusted eyes. "Like hell I will!"

The referee wanted to retaliate, but something in his body told him to not even consider moving a single muscle in his body. The boy that stood before him had only just unlocked his powers, and yet he felt like an untamed beast. Ready to strike anyone and anything.

But as the referee's hesitation prevented him from even moving, Kodak disappeared instantly. Only to reappear infront of Azar.

Azar tried to use his I.R.T but he was knocked to the ground by a small energy blast of kinetic energy.

Kodak then brought his fist up, and struck Azar across the jaw. It was powerful, potent, and even dangerous.

But he couldn't cease up. Kodak refused to stop, until he was the last standing.

"DON'T YOU DARE TARNISH MY MOTHER'S NAME!" His voice echoed through the arena as the crowd watched him

rushdown his opponent aggressively.

Azar's head jerks back as the first punch connects directly to his jaw. His eyes then glare as he feels the anger rushing through his body as the pain felt numb.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

[Innate Skill: Thunderblast!]

Azar then headbutts Kodak, causing him to slide back a couple of feet away from him.

His palm then raises up, pointed at Kodak. "FUCK YOUR MEDIOCRE FAMILY!"

A blue lightning then glows from his palm as the arena glows the same shade of his lightning.

But Kodak's face tensed with rage upon hearing the vulgar insults about his family.

"SAYS THE FAILURE THAT COULDN'T EVEN IMPRESS HIS MOTHER!"

The dark blue kinetic energy then glows from Kodak's palms, and he points his right hand at Azar in the same way.

A blast of lightning then exits Azar's hand, flying towards Kodak. A cocky look plasters on Azar's face as he sees Kodak fully engulfed in the blast of lightning.

The crowd them waits in anticipation as the blast of lightning creates dust cloud. People whisper and chatter as they hoped the worst hadn't happened.

Azar just smiles he watches the dust cloud slowly disappearing. He then turns towards the crowd as it appears Kodak is nowhere to be found.

"YOU ALL THOUGHT KODAK WOULD WIN?!"

The crowd jeered as Azar smiled at the crowd triumphantly. They hated his style, they hated his attitude.

Azar then felt the ground beneath him shake and rumble violently. A dark glow of blue then radiates under his feet.

Azar then readies himself as the quaking beneath him get louder, and more violent.

And yet, the only words he could say were, "Impossible."

Kodak then bursts through the ground, and delivers an enhanced punch of kinetic energy. "I AM NOT FINISHED!"

Azar's chin is then struck, sending him flying tens of feet into the air. Thoughts run rampant as Azar's consciousness fading.

"I was suppose to... Win."

Azar's body hits the ground. He looked up with his vision beginning to fade. The golden beams sun shined onto his face as his body tensed and churned in pain.

Kodak was triumphant over Azar, in not just physicality, but mentally as well. He then tried to walk away from his downed opponent, but the same voice from before echoed in mind. "Why not let loose?" It said curiously.

Kodak's eyes widened as he heard the voice. "What?" He muttered to himself quietly.

The mysterious, yet ominous voice then replied to him swiftly. "Go on," It said in a cold and inhumane tone. "Break him. Show them what happens when you're being messed with. Plus who doesn't like a litte bit of revenge?"

Kodak's fingertips trembled. He may have fought and beaten people to a pulp for the protection of others. But this act of selfishness was beyond.

His lips then trembled as he replied to the voice in a tone of denial. "I-I-I refuse... besides it's over. He can barely move, much less fight."

The voice scoffed at Kodak in tone of boredom and the need for chaos. "Tch, this generation is so soft. Fine then, I guess I'll take control then."

Kodak's eyes widened and his face went pale. "What do you mean control?" He asked im a worrisome tone.

But before could say anything his vision fades. And a red shade takes over Kodak's eyes.

Eyes of bloodlust. Eyes of violence. Eyes of a chaotic nature.

The annoucer's voice then fills the stadium as the battle arena shifts back into a dark tile floor. "WE HAVE A WINNER, KODAK KAWNARI-"

The microphone then explodes as a blast of dark blue kinetic energy is shot at the announcer's booth.

The microphone whines, as if it were crying out in pain. The crowd looks at the announcer's booth in shock.

Until one bystander cries out, while pointing at Kodak. "WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING!?" It was a fan that Shiro had interacted with earlier. The one begging for an autograph.

Revenant rankers then jumped from their seats, attempting to attack Kodak.

Multiple energies light up the arena, but a shout from Shiro echoes through the arena. A warning that cried out to the unsuspecting hotheads.

"WHAT ARE YOU IDIOTS DOING!? BACK AWAY FROM MY SON!"

His voice boomed with authority, but the rankers disobeyed. They stormed the arena. Tens of revenant rankers filled the fighting area.

One of the rankers then attempted to strike Kodak, but the attack misses completely. Leaving him wide open.

A message then appeared from "Kodak's" point of view. [Avatar: !?!?*%% Has taken over your body!]

[Forcible Expulsion will activate in a few minutes!]

The lone revenant ranker is struck by a backhanded attack from Kodak. His knuckles slammed into the man, knocking him completely unconscious.

The roars of violence then fill the air. "Kodak" then lifts his arms up from side to side. Striking a pose as the rankers charge him.

The ominous then spoke from Kodak's mouth. "It's been far too long since I've spilled the blood of revenant rankers!"

Shiro's ears pick up the ominous voice from down below. This was not Kodak's. "His body was taken over by his avatar!"

Kodak's body then dodged, and counter the multiple amounts of revenant rankers coming his way.

But no matter their insane numbers, he stood on too of a pile of around 89 revenant rankers. 50 D-Ranks, 20 C-Ranks, 10 B-Ranks, and 9 A-ranks.

The crowd then watched as "Kodak" walked towards Azar. He seemed to just be waking up the singular kinetic punch that the real Kodak had knocked him out with.

He groaned as "Kodak" grabbed his collar aggressively. "Uuughm.. What the fuck!?"

A strong punch clocked his jaw. Popping it out of place. Azar tried to use his lightning, bit the kinetic energy from "Kodak" snuffed out his electrifying power.

The ominous voice then left "Kodak's" mouth once more. "Just so you know. You completely deserve this."

Azar's face stared at "Kodak" with a confused and puzzled look. "The fuck you talking about, you -"

CRACK!

Blood drips onto the ground. Pain and anguish shoots all across Azar's body. His leg twitches in pain he looks down, seeing the shattered ends of his bones sticking out.

A scream of nothing but agony, pain, and torment echoes through the arena. "GYAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

The crowd then cringed in pain as they see the bone sticking out from Azar's leg. Chaos ensues as the people rush out of the arena.

Overlapping voices of fear, and the thought of the same harm being brought upon them emptied the arena of the civilians.

Azar's head then raced as looked at the crimson color spilling out of his leg. His head was dizzy, and he could feel his life flashing before his eyes from the intense blood loss.

"Kodak" then smirked a sadistic smile. His face was vastly different. A twisted shell of what his father knew him as.

Shiro then jumps from the stands, landing straight in the middle of the arena.

His glare pierced into Kodak's eyes. Shiro then threw a punch. It was fast, strong, and punched through whatever defenses that "Kodak" could block.

His voice then yelled at his son, or rather what was controlling him. "END THE CONTROL ON MY SON RIGHT NOW!"

Shiro's voice radiated volumes throughout the arena. The ground then began to shake from his voice.

The remaining revenant rankers just watched as a dark shade of purple aura poured from Shiro's body.

But whoever was controlling Kodak just laughed through the young teen's body. "HAHAHAHA!"

The laughter was twisted, even sickening to even hear. All while Shiro just stood in front of his son, trying to keep tabs on his heart.

"You are such a sloppy fighter. You're nothing like my son," Shiro said in a dark, cold, and unsettling tone.

Emotions then poured out of Shiro. Those sealed up emotions began to burst forth, almost like a volcanic eruption.

The sorrow he felt for Kodak not being able to control his own body. The pity he felt for Azar being utterly humiliated. The disappointment he felt that he had brought to the tournament. But one emotion was stronger than the rest.

It was rage. The uncontrollable kind that one would feel. Who could blame him? His family's reputation was tarnished by this thing controlling Kodak. Along with the fact his son would soon have to cope with the lives he unknowingly trampled on.

Shiro's mouth then shuttered with anger as the next few words left his lips. "You tarnish not only my son's reputation, but the one that the Kawanari family has built up. I don't know if you're an enemy of mine or a bitter avatar dwelling in my son's body. But please release him now."

Tension filled the arena as "Kodak" stared at Shiro with disappointment. The wind then blew through the air, showcasing the smell of Autumn through the area.

The ominous voice then spoke out to Shiro in tone emanating neither anger nor sadness. It was like he was being let down.

"You are so pathetic," The voice spoke coldly. "I've lived for thousands and thousands of years. I was excited to meet the strongest descendants of the Fujiwaras. But you are a mere imitation of how pathetic you made this lineage."

Shiro's senses then erupt forth, screaming at him to focus one single thing. "Dodge this, please."

Shiro then leans back, almost colliding with the ground beneath him. He then looks forward, seeing the controlled body of his son lashing out at him.

Shiro then grabs the arms of his son, and restrains him. His leg swiftly kicks Kodak's left leg, causing to fall.

But as Kodak fell he was then grapples to the ground and put into a chokehold.

Shiro's grip was strong, relentless, and unyielding. It was like his opponent had been trapped by some kind of invisible force.

The ominous voice then thought to itself, "I thought his strength was evaluated. But that doesn't seem to be the case. His strength is immense. He might be on the same level of a high-end transcendent."

The ominous voice then calmed itself and focused. "Shiro Kawanari also seemed to have inherited the same technique of Fūshuku Fujiwara. The same kind of wind manipulation that traps, and slashes away at those who dare cross paths with it. A technique of prison and top notch physical enchantment."

The ominous then smiles with Kodak's body. "However, it has one flaw."

The dark kinetic energy from Kodak's body then begins to turn from dark blue, to nothing but pure darkness.

"YOU CAN'T BEAT THIS BRAT'S INNATE TECHNIQUE!" The voice screamed at Shiro as a wave of dark kinetic energy lashed against him.

Shiro doesn't even flinch as the wave was intensely violent and riddled with bloodlust. Whatever was controlling Kodak was immensely skilled, and deadly.

His thumbs then touch Kodak as the kinetic energy starts to grow stronger. Shiro's thumbs struck five spots across Kodak's body. Forehead, sternum, stomach, and both his shoulders.

Kodak's eyes and hair then shift, changing from purple and red. To black and brown.

His eyes then look up, seeing a bruised and bloody face on his dear father. Fear washes over him. Not the fear of losing a fight, or even his own battered body. But the fear that whatever took over him his body, had harmed his loved ones.

Kodak's head then turns away from his father as he sees the multiple types of rankers on the ground.

Their bodies were piled and scattered. With some even missing limbs. Kodak's eyes traced the arena as he saw the destruction around him. Debris, rubble, and even traces of blood surrounded him.

He then fell to his knees, feeling mentally defeated. Tears then flowed down his face as he felt the autumn winds shift coldly.

Shiro looked down as he saw Kodak's fingers digging into the tile floor of the arena. Blood painted the tiles as his fingertips began to split apart.

Kodak's shoulders were then grabbed, making him face his father. Shiro firstly noticed the tears and self blame in his son's eyes.

He then softly called to Kodak as he gently held him. "Ko?"

Kodak's eyes then shifted over to his father. His thoughts then raced uncontrollably as the nickname echoed through his mind.

"That's right," Kodak thought to himself. "It's the nickname I used to love being called by from my dad. I remembered the reasoning was a combination of different meanings. The meaning in Japanese was child. And the Korean meaning nose. Essentially I was being called a nosey child in a joking manner."

Kodak's eyes then filled with more tears as he looked at his dad, reminiscing of old memories that deeply flooded his mind. "I-I-I am... so sorry, dad."

Shiro then pulled his son close, silently crying for not only himself, but the family.

"I know Ko," Shiro spoke in a softv and understanding tone. "I know you didn't mean to. That just means we have to be better. And that betterment is through your abilities being sealed for now."

But that heartfelt moment was then broken as Kodak saw a portal open above them. An elemental portal that crackles with lightning, and burned with intensity of fierce flames.

Shiro's senses then screamed at him. Screaming at him to get ready for the battle awaiting him, and him only.

Shiro then turned around, seeing Fumiko and her mother running onto the field.

"TAKE KODAK AND RUN GODDAMMIT!," Shiro screamed as he shoved Kodak away from him.
