Chapter 20 - She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not.

"So, from the top, don't leave anything behind, I swear you don't want to,"

[Mild Inflammation detected, a puzzle piece rids you of the pain equally increasing resistance in the wrist area and your whole being.]

"..."

"In the dark, as always."

"Hohoho, I don't think you were young man!"

"What, Oh...,"

"He's not even with us...,"

"I... I'm sure h... he had...,"

"You'll have to finish your sentence another day,"

She had it done really tight.

Park tried to subtly nudge free from his restraints trying to feel around the intensity with which his hands were bound with, at least the only worry he had currently. The soreness that he had prior was somewhat brushed away after the onset of that message that he had received earlier. His eyes looked around, fixing on the different ob... subjects in the room. From the feline behemoth to the towering stature of slightly trembling needles, from the spilled treats on the floor to the hole on the wall, gently oozing a dark sludge-like substance akin to an abscess let free and finally from the corner of his eye, the door to their room, weirdly hanging in place but bearing some new markings apart from its barely existent hinges. Giant footsteps etched deep into the wood in fine detail, as if it was slowly being crushed. Maybe, that was supposed to be them?

... or him?

"TALK!" It almost came out as a roar. They were both displeased but one greater than the other, he could tell whom.

"Okay, look, I'm really sorry for what happened to you...,"

"..."

"... and I didn't even know that it could turn out like this, even though I've accepted all these thingshappening from the first day, but it still wasn't okay for that to happen. But I promise you once we get out there, from building the best "home" you ever had...,"

"I'm sorry, getting out?"

"Yes, I can finally say it, that there was a higher up who wanted me to work outside, don't know where, said that 'they all look so happy',"

"?"

"Trust me, I'm as confused as you are, but she said that we would become stronger than we ever thought possible and the best part of it all, we would be getting paid...,"

"... enough to enter a dome."

"...,"

She could sense Gionne's disbelief, this was a big deal and even more than that, at the mention of the "dome" word, something struck in her, a foggy memory that she desperately tried to remember, the details were hazy. It was right there, just in front of her, if only she could...

"Madness...,"

They both spun around, the ruby shaded room bathing in pitch darkness.

"THEY'RE FALLING, THEY'RE FALLING, HELP ME...!"

Park's cries echoed to silence as their focus landed on something... no, someone else. Some considerable distance away from them, two pinholes stared at them. The voice sounded so familiar, but as devilish as this turn of events coincidentally decided to be, the voice teased her just as the "dome" keyword did, leaving her maddeningly racking her brain. As they focused on the two dots, the stark green staring into their soul split, birthing a new purple pair. This one came with a new tone that as likewise to the first, strained her poor brain even more.

"...That will be the only thing we shall provide to you, protector."

She should have spoken at this point, curiosity of a cat and all, but how could she? She felt around for her lips...

... but where were they? and so, she did the next best thing she could, with her now longer legs, she could sense a strenuous question coming, and down her heel fell on Gionne's neck.

What in the...!

He couldn't believe the two instances, one obviously outweighing the other and that would be, why would this newly morphed caramelized beauty knock his lights out. He fell into forced slumber faster than the pain racing through his entire being.

!

A hand wrapped in sickishly yellow bandages taunted her; instincts told her otherwise, but the feline nature superseded. With her smooth beautiful legs, she launched forth. Surely, the air must have rippled as she coursed past but no, her surroundings were quieter than a church mouse and her targets? right within her grasp...

"With her right foot, her right heel...," Lily could feel their hot breath on her neck as the pairs of emerald and violet moved by her and settled in a new place...

... right above her unconscious friend, sound asleep thanks to her wonderful efforts,

"... shall prevent those unworthy from pain worse than death, for that is the duty of the fallen protector...,"

She couldn't even sense it as something clashed against her, and as she flew past him, a strand of her cloth cleanly wound itself around him, dragging him along to that light... in... the... distance...

Gionne took in a huge gulp of air, waking up in a cold sweat, they both sat there rattled in their own ways, back in the room, the huge ruby window before them showing a concerned Ripha looking after them,

"I think they are waking up!"

"Coming in!"

Park was in with a fresh full pail of water, "remember we agreed you'll be on laundry duty! But don't worry...!"

The pail was placed down,

"... given your size, you'll be able to do it in no time, just one hit and it's done. Respectfully of course."

He drenched the grey fabric in water and gently wiped the remaining dark residue away; it wasn't perfect but at least that original shade of green was coming through.

"...Is it just me or have they become more toned?"

"They do have more lines than usual,"

"Hehe, so you do have a funny side to you as well,"

"Now onto the main reason as to why I brought you here."

"There is going to be a burial."

"Tomorrow."

"...and do you know what I don't have?"

"The bodies."

"Correct."

"..."

"So, you want something like this."

One of the dead bodies walked into the light.

{Shadow has been activated]

"Or this?"

Another walked into the light.

And many more.

The missing bodies were now in the room.

"Are they enough?"

Anu was surveying each and every single one of them.

"Down to their finest details."

"They'll do."

{Shadow has been deactivated]

They all vanished into dark mist.

"Always full of surprises."

"So, when shall I have them?"

"Immediately after class..."

"At three?"

"...which now I'm actually late for."

Park donned his uniform and exit the morgue.

"..."

"..."

Anu heard it down by the reception.

"You healed up pretty nice buddy."

"So where are you off to in a rush?"

"Class."

"Which one?"

"Wards and Curses..."

"Ah! The pink nail one."

Gretsa said in a low menacing tone.

"Gretsa wait..."

"Happy studying..."

"GRETSA WAIT!!"

"What?"

"I'm just getting the door for you."

"Oh!"

"Thank you."

The door creaked open.

There were footsteps.

"...and have a safe flight."

"I knew it..."

-whoosh

"..."

"Every time I hit that punk my stress fleets away."

"..."

Anu pitied him.

"That kid's going to be Gretsa's sandbag till she dies."

...

"And that makes it 51."

"Where's Park..."

Park placed both of his arms to guard his face.

-boom

Gretsa heard a crash in the distance.

Birds flapped across the sky.

"Rate me five stars kid."

"...now that Park's here..."

Park was plastered on the wall. He was in a daze.

Greydale ticked something off.

"...52."

He loosened and fell on the ground below in a heavy thud.

"Great! Let's begin."

"..."

"So how do we brush off the pink nail curse?"

Park groaned.

"Could you do it more quietly young man."

"..."

"Where was I?"

A hand shot up.

"How to brush off the curse?"

"Ah yes!"

Greydale continued.

"Basically, in a sense it's a "Fight fire with fire" scenario..."
