Chapter 6 - It's been a minute

"It's been a while since we last played together hasn't it?" I said, picking up two silver desert eagles from a small case placed on the table by Sunah. A gentle smile crossed my face as I reached out for the cloth in the case and started polishing them as memories of when my mom first gave them to me replayed in my mind. I was known as the Blade Assassin, the Goddess of Death. Rumours of how mercilessly I slaughtered my enemies with nothing but two daggers had spread far and wide.

When I first took on an elimination mission, I went alone. Armed with nothing but a katana, I defeated my enemies and eliminated every last one of them before the break of dawn.

When the sun rose that morning, so did the name Ghost Samurai.

All anyone knew was that the assassin responsible for slaughtering the rebels wielded a katana. No one knew who I was, nor did anyone ever see my face.

Later, I abandoned the katana in favor of daggers. That was when the name Blade Assassin came into existence. As my reputation grew, people began assuming that Ghost Samurai was one of my assassins,Lady D's assassins, never suspecting that both names belonged to the same person.

Honestly, I found the misunderstanding amusing.

But reminiscing about the past wasn't going to get anything done.

After polishing my Desert Eagles, I put them away and headed to the living room to catch up with Zha Zha and Sunah.

We were busy reminiscing about our childhood when Sunah suddenly got a call from his boss, telling him to return to the office and finish the work he left undone. As soon as he hanged up, he looked pissed of like he could kill someone.

"Taesong, where are you? You left your work unfinished. Make your way to the office to wrap it up. Wrap it up ass. You just don't want to see me home relaxing myself. You damn capitalist." Taesong said, grabbing his keys from the table, his face twisted in annoyance.

" Hahaha!" We laughed so hard that our stomach started hurting.

We tried to hold it in but we couldn't. This was the first time we saw Taesong react like this. To have him call his boss a capitalist, he must have done something to him.

"Zhao, don't you think his boss is being weird? From what I heard, Jin is very cold and strict. Overtime the same day as the mission, that's something he would never do unless he doesn't want Sunah to go." Xiao Zha said, scooping over before lowering her voice to whisper.

I did not reply, I only smiled then tapped her shoulder twice before making my way upstairs.

"Wei! Why did you just get up and leave? You know something right? Wei!" She called, getting up from the couch and followed me upstairs.

Taesong arrives at the office. He walked into his office and found a stack of files piled up on his table. His face turned red the moment he saw the stack. He had done all of today's workload plus planning for next week.

"Damn capitalist. Better make sure I don't catch you," he muttered under his breath, throwing the file he'd picked up onto the table.

He picked it up again and started going through it. He was busy going through the files and rearranging what needed rearranging when he suddenly dozed off without noticing it. Jin was watching him in the security room. When he saw that he had dozed off while working, he went to his office and covered him with a blanket before kissing his forehead. He then turned around and left for his house. Jin had just left the building when Taesong got woken by his alarm. He had stretched out his hand to switch off the alarm when he noticed the blanket on him.

"Damn capitalist. You think covering me with a blanket will make me forget? Tch! In your dreams. I'm definitely making a note of this one."

He thought to himself as he quickly pulled off the blanket and threw it onto his desk. He then grabbed his keys and phone before leaving for home.

It was 8 p.m. The sun had finally disappeared beneath the horizon, giving way to the creatures of the night.

The team gathered at the agreed meeting point before splitting up to carry out their respective tasks.

Jin was absolutely livid when he saw Taesong there. However, he had no choice but to keep his anger in check until the mission was over.

We proceeded with the mission according to how it was planned but Jin's group was trapped. Sunah got caught in a gunfight where he couldn't dodge all the bullets, but before a bullet could hit him, Jin stood in front of him.

"Jin! Are you crazy? Why did you stand in front of me?" He asked with tears flowing down his face.

"If I didn't stand in front of you, do you think you would still be able to talk nonsense? Are you a man? Why are you crying?" He said, trying to make Sunah stop crying, but that only made him cry more.

"I don't care if crying makes me less manly 'cause I'll cry until I decide to stop." He said, taking off his jacket to put pressure on Jin's wound.

"Reporting back. Our group leader took a bullet for his PA and he's now close to death. We are asking to retreat so we can save the group leader."

The moment I heard the report, my heart was swallowed by anger and hatred. The fact that they tried to shoot my Sunah got my blood boiling, leaving me thirsty for blood.

"Status report on the progress of group C." I said, waiting to get a response.

"We managed to take out our target but the leader of Hexagonal gang is nowhere to be found."

"They didn't find the leader neither did we, so this means he's at their target range. All groups retreat, I'll be handling this one on my own." I said, gearing up.

"ROGER!!" They all answered at the same time.

I left for the location where group C's leader was shot, knowing very well it was where the Leader of Hexagonal gang was hiding. The air crackled with tension as my eyes blazed with a fiery rage. My movements were fluid and precise, each step calculated to perfection. The enemy's bullets whizzed past me in a deadly dance, but I was already in motion, my body a blur as I twisted and ducked, the sound of the bullets cutting through the air only fueling my focus.

My movements were instinctive, almost as if the world had slowed for me, every shot a failed attempt to catch me. With a swift spin, I closed the distance, launching myself at the nearest enemy soldier with the force of a storm.

In a single fluid motion, I kicked the gun from his hand with brutal force, sending it clattering to the ground. I didn't hesitate; my fist crashed into his jaw, snapping his head back with a sickening crack. Before he could fall, my elbow drove into his ribs, the sharp impact knocking the wind out of him.

I whirled, my leg swinging in a high arc to knock another enemy off his feet, sending him sprawling to the ground. My enemies fired wildly, but I was already moving—sliding into a roll, my body low to the ground as I evaded the barrage.

As I came back to my feet, my hand snaked out, grabbing a discarded knife. With one swift motion, I threw it at a soldier's throat, the blade embedding with deadly precision. The man's body jerked, eyes wide in disbelief, before he crumpled to the ground.

Now, it was just me and the leader of the Hexagonal gang. The leader lunged, but I was quicker. I sidestepped, using his own momentum to send him spinning into the dirt. He barely had time to recover before I was upon him, my leg sweeping his feet from under him, sending him crashing to the ground.

With a snarl, he attempted to rise, but my foot came down hard on his chest, pinning him there. My eyes glinted with cold fury as I drew my daggas, their blades gleaming in the harsh light. I moved with lightning speed, my daggas flashing as they cut through the air in a series of brutal strikes.

The gang leader raised his arms to defend, but my blows were too fast, too precise—each one cracking against his defences like thunder. My dagga sliced through his guard like a hot knife through butter, leaving him open.

With a roar, the leader tried to retaliate, but I was already behind him. My elbow slammed into his spine, followed by a swift kick to his ribs, causing him to stumble forward. I grabbed his hair, yanking his head back, and with a single, swift motion, I severed his head clean off, the blade sinking through his flesh with a sickening sound.

Blood sprayed in all directions as his body crumpled to the ground. I stood over him, my breathing controlled, my eyes unwavering. I casually picked up his severed head, the blood dripping down my arm, and without a second glance, I turned to walk back to my comrades.
